@dopamine83 Agreed about "relate"... when I was in Africa (note I'm 1/2 Greek) I was able to relate more to the locals than the African-Americans. It turned out that the native music reminded me of the Mediterranean melodies I grew up on. I don't know what Afridan-American boys in LA are listening to, but if just one opens his mind/soul, he will feel (not necessarily relive a Greek cultural experience) but feel the music - the heart is universal.

Μελίνα ήταν μία...και ο Τσιτσάνης επίσης...Το τραγούδι π γράφτηκε ένα κρύο Κυργιακάτικο βραδυ του Δεκέμβρη επι κατοχής..όταν Τσιτσανης επέστρεφε το βραδυ στο σπίτι του κ είδε σταγόνες από αίμα πάνω στο χιόνι..Αυτοί ήταν οι γνήσιοι καλλιτέχνες που θα ζουν για πάντα στο μυαλό κ στις καρδιές μας...

Do you know that Nefertiti was daughter of a scytian mother and greece father. She became wife to Farao and got two daughters one became queen in Ireland and queen Scota is stemming from her. Melina is like Nefertiti.

@dopamine83 Feelings are international. Greeks do not have a patent or a monopoly on feelings nor understanding!
I totally agree! The difference is only on the volume of expression for these feelings! Inside we feel all the same but some nation know better how to share them and give them away. This is the difference! The northern nations cannot express them as the southerns!
Let's say that they are quicker to reach their feelings. The western people first have to discuse it, if it is proper and save to react without any break on our inner civilised feelings. Than they design dances, so we can move on that music. And if they find it stranges there are no Greecks around on the floor, they don't realise that the Greeck is alraedy sleeping from the wine, the good food, the dancing and the singing. Maeby the Greek have no monopoly on feelings, but they are the first to play with it.
Very moving rendition - the historical suffering of the Greek people at the hands of the Nazis during WWII comes through very strongly in this famous song.
