My late Grandfather served with the American Army Signal Corps in the UK and talked at length about the SE5 and was amused watching the rotary powered Sopwiths buzzing away where he was posted.

Those rotary motors must have been difficult to master with all that inertia trying to spin the plane as well as propelling it forward,it wasn't until i actually saw one that i understood how the ignition and fuel worked on them,it must have been marvellous for our old relations to see the progress of flight as it was only 11 years until the start of WW1 😎
