  • A couple of friends and I summited Baylor Peak in the Organ Mountains by Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Starting in Aguirre Springs campground, my GPS clocked it in at about 6 miles round trip and over 2,000 ft of elevation change.
This was a fun route with spectacular views! The hike itself isn't very technical, although near the summit it gets steep and covered in loose rock. You'll need to watch your step up there, a fall is not something one would want to experience. Once up there, the swallows were darting between us sounding like missiles whooshing by. Hope you enjoy the video.
Peakbagger.com lists the peak elevation at 7,721 ft (2,353 m) above sea level (www.peakbagger...)
Here is the AllTrails Route we used:

Thank you for watching! I imagine it gets hot in the summer, but we had good temperatures that day.

Nice job. The interspersed still photography is a nice touch.

Thank you for watching and for the feedback on the stills. I’m glad they added rather than detracted from the video overall.
I saw from some of your vids that you’re familiar with the Organs! Very cool :)

Great job on the video, buddy! The photography is awesome as well. At times, this almost seems like a travel show on PBS or something. You're getting good at your editing. And your channel deserves a lot more subs than what you have. Keep it up and they will come.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it! I’ve been working on improving my videography/photography. I still have a long way to go, but it has been a lot of fun.
I will keep making videos, subs or not, because it is fun 🙂🙂

Love this vid. Quality is always improving and including the back and forth comments AND wind trumpeting made me feel like i was part of the hike. Cool

Thank you, that means a lot. I make the videos partly for me as a memory, and also to share the experience with viewers so they get an idea of what it is like on trail in an entertaining fashion. Comments like this help me know that at least some people enjoy them haha 😀
Having the wind muff really helps keep the wind from dominating the audio, but it’ll still let you know it is there.

Haha it’s ALWAYS a false summit ! How high is it ? A beautiful day with friends.

Thanks :) The overall climb was a little over 2000 ft, Peak elevation is 7721 ft according to peak bagger.
And you’re right, it’s always a false summit lol. But that doesn’t stop me from hoping it isn’t, and then getting disappointed when it is lol!

Dayum. The quality of this vid is insane. It was legitimately like watching a high class documentary on Netflix

Oh man, thanks for the compliment! I feel like I’m finally starting to narrow down to a format that I enjoy producing and watching. I’m glad viewers can notice the difference too 🙂

Enjoyed your video! Do you mind me asking what you use for the elevation display at the top at beginning?

Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it :). This was a very enjoyable hike.
The animated elevation track is part of the Relive app. The app pulls in gps data and then generates the animated track and elevation plot. It’s pretty cool!

That thumbnail is a work of art! Looks like an amazing view. If you ever want to take a stab at Organ Needle, let me know! I want to do it, but am a little uncertain about doing the climb by myself given the famous sketchy scramble.

Thanks! I wrestled with using that thumbnail. I took that picture of the organs soon after sunrise, but Baylor peak is just out of frame 😬😬
Let’s keep in touch on the needle. I have similar thoughts as you, but definitely want to do it. I have some local hiking buddies that want to try as well :)

Thank you! It’s a fun one for sure as long as steep and rocky trails don’t bother you.
