Big bream species like that are a blast on ultra-lite tackle. I have a 25 year old Johnson Century that has rang up hundreds of bluegill, red ear, pumkinseed, and warmouth. Strangely I can't remember ever catching a Green sunfish here in North West Georgia. If you are ever in this part of Georgia ring me. I'll hook you up on some spots. I enjoy your videos on the cold nights when I only think about fishing.
Nice video mister John love your videos keep up the good work and go catch some more big ones, my personal best green sunfish was 2 pounds and 1 ounces and I caught it out of a creek
They really are! I have a secret spot to go when I want to catch them, and I love them because they are literally so angry and hungry so they're always willing to step in if nothing else is biting, or even if something else is biting!
you should revisit this pond, Jon. with your lighter rods and tinier lures. You could throw out a cat rod with those common shiners you used in last vid. find deepest spot in winter for the big rod
Bro those are some awesome Greenies. People overlook the fun of panfish! And that catfish... man... That's just cruel that it broke off, but good fight.
Quick & Dirty Fishing thanks man, I have been back to that pond a couple times hoping to catch some more big sunfish but haven’t caught anything since the first time.
0:04 - 0:18 that's a real pain to deal with...one time it happened to me and my line snapped in the process..so i lost the top part of my rod..btw nice sunfish👌❤ Going to sub
when your line broke my heart sank. Dude if that's the biggest green sunfish you caught I know I broke a record because I caught one and thought it was a smallmouth bass lol
I caught a huge dark phenotype green sunfish on a square bill crank bait the other day and pound for pound it fought just as if not harder than a bass. Wasn’t even mad😂
@@CreekFishingAdventures This is true. They can tolerate less then average waters. We are supposed to destroy them and submit them to fish and wildlife once caught.
@itsdatruff I had never seen one until this kid I had as a caregiver client brought them home and I cooked them for him. I knew of Bluegill and Red Ear and Pumpkin Seed.
No at 1:45 that’s a green sunfish In fact there is not a single largemouth bass in this video. For some reason most people get confused when looking at a green sunfish.
dont fish for anything with 4 pound line. should be banned imo. 4 pound line breaks more hooks off into innocent fish than anything else. dont use 4 pound man. its not good for those fish and you can just use a small glass composite pole to compensate for the light line.. you will still feel it alot but.. no killing or injuring fish. the 4'8 model of the ugly stick gx2 would be good.
The Green sunfish looks like a Bluegill with a Largemouth Bass head on it.
fights like one too when they are further away from shore and you use a jig
Huge sunfish, and next time bring a dip net for your catfish
Holy cow, that green sunfish at 7:06 looked like a bass!!! That was a trophy sunfish!

I love that you like sunfish! Really enjoy your videos! Mostly all I am interested in is panfish and trout.

Those fish are beautiful and a lot of fun to catch.

I caught two greens yesterday. I love looking at their colors and fat mouths. Happy fishing! Subbed
Stan Mack if they got any bigger I think they would eat a lot of bass’s food with there big mouths
Wow! I’d bring over the guys and have a greenie fry!
@@stanmack6171 classical crappy fisherman who thinks he has to eat everything he catches 😂😂
So glad to see that I’m not the only one that happens to but not that I want that for you just always feel I’m the only one lol 😂 love your videos sir
the shorter the amount of line between the fish and the first guide of your rod way better chance of a tension snap when landing it
At 8:00 I am pretty certain that’s a green sunfish bluegill hybrid
you should revisit this pond, Jon. with your lighter rods and tinier lures. You could throw out a cat rod with those common shiners you used in last vid. find deepest spot in winter for the big rod
it is gone now, they built a subdivision there
Those were some really nice and big greens!
green sunfish are super underrated. they fight like bass and can be super tiny or fucking huge
I love green sunfish they are my favorate sunfigh they fight like crazy
Good video!! Hope to see more videos at that pond it looks like a good one.
I have 2 pet green sunfish about 10 inches!!! Idk about eating them.. I mean I know you can but they make some beautiful pets!!!

@@CreekFishingAdventures use normal bobber and worm in shallower areas
Man those were some really big sunfish. Awesome spot.
Man that’s an awesome spot!
That intro! So calm yet so funny
Best and easy bait for sunfish besides worms.
Green sunfish will bite on anything. Even bare hooks
I live in Ooltewah where in cleveland is that
Looks like a nice pond! You need to go back and take a rod with line to land a catfish!
0:04 - 0:18 that's a real pain to deal with...one time it happened to me and my line snapped in the process..so i lost the top part of my rod..btw nice sunfish👌❤

yah that stinks, thanks
Always buy 1 piece or super glue the 2-pcs together
Man that’s a great spot!
when your line broke my heart sank. Dude if that's the biggest green sunfish you caught I know I broke a record because I caught one and thought it was a smallmouth bass lol

Hey man. I can see your channel is growing! Keep it up, here to support you all the way!
WOW! that was some nice Greenies! that one at the 8:00 mark looks like a Green/Bluegill
yah I couldn't figure that one out. It does look like a mix
culda laid down to get that catfish,..
disturbin other peoples fish,..
Where's that pond at?
Imagine you catching that size of green sunfish but it’s a rock bass pond if that makes sense
The fish at 7:57 is a hybrid
Nice yea knew there had 2 b some predatory fish to keep the sunfish population in check to produce nice sunnys
Some of those are descent size Green Sunfish!
I thought my green sunfish were big
What should a Biggineer green sunfish angler throw?
trout magnet or bobby garland itty bit on 1/64 oz jighead
Whats the name of the biat your using
i think it was a Rooster tail spinner
I caught a huge dark phenotype green sunfish on a square bill crank bait the other day and pound for pound it fought just as if not harder than a bass. Wasn’t even mad😂
Love fishing after work
What was that bobber? Is that some kind of bobber you can put on without taking the hook and sinker off?
it was the trout magnet bobber, it has a slit in it to put the line through then cork to hold it
Where do you get these? I didn't see any on Amazon but haven't checked Bass Pro Shop. Thank you!
Jason Sheroan at Walmart, it says trout magnet on it. In the section with other bobbers
You caught a redear sunfish or shellcracker if you like nicknames
I caught a nice pounder today on a gold spoon
Are green sunfish and war mouth the same.?
no warmouth are a different type of sunfish
love your channel man
thanks
I just started creek fishing over the weekend. I caught a couple of big green sunfish. Where I live. It's considered an invasive species.
They can take over an area but also seem to survive where other fish dont
@@CreekFishingAdventures This is true. They can tolerate less then average waters. We are supposed to destroy them and submit them to fish and wildlife once caught.
@@somerandomdude8024 where is that at?

Very nice
Ah the wonderful green sunfish
Is this public or private
i dont know, it was beside a fire department
the fish at 8:00 could be a hybrid sunfish. maybe a bluegill and green sunfish interbred.
i have trouble telling them apart when they are crossbreed
so do i. Had to take a good look at him. I could be wrong altogether. was just venturing a guess.
i have been back to that pond twice and havent caught one over 3 inches
was just a big bluegill
2lbs 2oz
Man those are some hogs
there cute
World record 2 lbs 2 ounces
that would be a fun catch
@@CreekFishingAdventures yeah
I've caught a 5 pound green sunfish
WHAT?? that would be insane
Its common were I live
I'd love to see a picture of it. The largest recorded green sunfish weighed 2.2 pounds.
It's not were he is
I don’t think they fight as well as blue hills or red ears but they taste pretty good too and still fight ok.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The second ones a largemouth bass
