Some notes
If you remove plastic panel under steering wheel don't forget to unplug parking brake switch.
if you pull to hard on this plastic peace the hood latch rubber grommet will pull out of fire wall don't forget to push this back in.
Also GM provided fuse box with no bolts under steering wheel forget the bolts and save your self time remove the threaded silver clips and just put zip ties threw the existing holes it will save you a lot of grief and you possibly might not have to remove any plastic. - Розваги
Thanks for the video. Total nonsense that GM doesn't do this from the factory considering these trucks are 70k+.
No doubt!
Very helpful video. Just did this on my dad’s 3500. What a pain in the balls!
Side note: the busbar goes UNDER the fuses, not over them as shown in the video.
Also, I didn’t use screws to hold the fuse box in-zip ties through the screw holes.
I didn’t need to take any dash panels off except for the fuse box cover on the driver side.
Shoving the wire through the firewall grommet was also a pain in the balls lol
Mind if I message you directly about installing the upfitter switches in the 3500?
Don't take the dash apart. Use a trim tool and gently remove the reveal around the switches..lift the switches bottom out and roll down and out from the top. With a light under the dash feed the switch connector in past the lower dash bracket a few inches then use a three prong grabber tool to grab the connector end and feed the connector out the switch hole. Connect the cable to the switches. Replace the reveal on the switches and insert back into dash. Remove the metal clips on the fuse block and use two small bolts to secure the fuse block. It works better if you lie on your back when trying to insert these bolts. Use an open end wrench with the angle facing in and a ratchet with a deep well on the back side of the fuse block. It took me less than an hour.
Thank you for the great video! I am installing signal lighting in a customers Chevy pickup and needed this info. I have been spoiled having alot of F Series jobs! Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU.
Good stuff, its a shame some nit wit executive charged me for an upgrade and did half the job to save a few bucks.
Fantastic, simple help...they don't put this in from the factory so it was nice to see where factory connections went
Thanks
Helped like crazy thanks bro
No problem 👍
Dude, you didn't have to take that knee bolster off!...you caused yourself so much extra work...I did mine perfect without taking it off...
Thanks for the video on the fuses on the battery! I couldn’t find any info on this as I’m installing my Plow on this Duramax 2021
Even years later, still not much on this! Coming from a Ram 2500, which had all the switches brought out under the hood, what is the usefulness of GM bringing these all out inside the cab? Is there another passthrough somewhere in the firewall to use, so the factory switches can control things like a compressor mounted under the bed, and various lighting upgrades around the truck?
Don’t take any panels off. There are two metal clips on the fuse box that the screws go into. Use a screw driver and pop those off. Then get two of the plastic body panel clips. My kit had two extra. You can line the holes up and push those through from the backside. No need for screws, or body panels to come off. Super easy to make the other connections by feeling around for what you can’t see.
i just did the upfitter switches on my 21 Crew cab 2500 Dmax. it wasnt ordered with them. that was fun. I also installed my Motorola XPR5550e in a box i made. nmo mount 16" forward of the rear spoiler. i have a sunroof. Made a custom box for the radio. The upfitter switches are nice for running power into the cab for the radio. I see in part 2 or 3 the pin for the ign. ill use that for the ign sense. Didnt know i you had a youtube channel. im in Attica
Small World LOL
So the power wires off the switches looks like different sizes. Is each switch rated for a different amperage like the Fords? I found the TSB, but it doesn’t specify
Do you have part number for this kit and a price
Is there a upfit kit number from GM we can use to describe this to the parts department
Couldn't believe when I got my 2022 silverado 2500hd
That this wire harness isn't even hooked up for you
Thank you
You're welcome
I was able to get a ratchet in the gap without removing the panel. However, my panel did not have the hole for the switches. I cut my own and the switches do not fit flush with the panel. There is some reinforcement behind the panel that keeps the switches from fitting correctly. Looks like I'll be removing the panel afterall.
"Stay tuned"
U seem like you know what your doing, great video, by any chance I'm trying to connect a wire of AVS LED BUG HOOD, to my light fusebox, I already connect black wire to negative side of battery, I can also connect directly to headlight but preferably to fusebox, it's 2020 GMC sierra 1500 sle truck
Carfull on these newer trucks I personally would find parking/running light wire and tap it using a in line method like truck cap but for sure using a in line fuse .
in line fuse link amzn.to/3wMGRpY
T -Tap amzn.to/3dSXffS
Male Heat Shrink Male 3m this is the good one dont by cheap amzn.to/3d5JyLn
You don’t need to pull half the dash apart to do this install. Just pull the clips off the fuse box at the end of the wire harness just run 2 small bolt and locknut
Brian Bouchard can you elaborate more? I’m not following your description.
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful!
One question..
Are all 5 switches hot with key off???
Thanks again.
You can choose if you want it hot with key off or only with ignition. You just have to shift the fuses. I’ll say on the fuse cover
Where do you shift the fuses? I do t know what you mean and can’t find any information
Where did you order the up fitter switches from and get wire harness too?? Thank you in advance
Ebay. Or your local dealer
Can I use this for a winch instead of a snowplow?
Good question. I'm getting ready to install a winch and looked inside the battery box and got sick. Not a simple connection any more. Not sure where to start...
Isn’t the plug used where the brake controller plugs in?
No unless it was allready ran
Now i have a 2024 chevy i just got, the switches are installed but the wires are in a bag and the dealer tried telling me they are trailer parts…is this not supposed to be wired on the pdi at the dealer???
Remember when you didnt have to tear out the dash tonrun a lousy aux lead ? 3:10
What are the pins and busbar i cant find them anywhere, my local dealer or any parts store couldn't tell me
Let me see if I have part number
@@rebelliners thanks
@@rebelliners hey i was wondering if you found a part number?
@christoups45 I stopped by the dealership, and the guy I trust has been on vacation. I can't find it anywhere. Send me an email rebelliners@aol.com
I have just bought the Upfitter kit and I have a light bar that came with a waterproof harness and I’m trying to ground it. How about should I do that if the bar harness has the ground built into it, I have exhilarate lights that have the positive in the ground and obviously I just ground those to the body but regarding the light bar how would I go about doing that do I splice in what would you recommend. ?
Sorry just seen this Local Body Ground is fine.
I cannot believe this kit dumps power under the dash instead of getting it to a power point inside the engine bay.
Had I known this I would have gone with the generic rugged ridge kit.
After this whole Mfer is in you still have to get wires back thru the firewall!!!!
Big fat F u to GM.
Where can I buy these parts?
GM
@@rebelliners All that I need are the studs for the distribution block but cannot find the GM part numbers anywhere.
@@bobbywoodring894 did you ever find them?
Where are you located
ATTICA NY
Why 5 switches and only 4 wires?
5th wire is in the headliner
