I bought a house a few months back, and the previous owner left behind the Andersen 2500 door. This video was incredibly useful; I hardly even needed to consult the manual provided by Andersen. They should definitely consider featuring this video on their website! Huge thanks to Bob for creating such an excellent tutorial.
We are about to sell a house and also thought about leaving the same door behind if the new owner wanted it or return it. But after watching this video it looked pretty easy and it was, pretty much.
I used this video step-by-step to install the Andersen 2000 Fullview Retractable Screen from Home Depot. I fumbled my way through the installation guide provided and eventually just went with your video tutorial. Thank you, Bob!
great video my door looks great since I followed your guide! I was half way done and realized I didn't even pull out the instruction booklet. Thankyou for taking your time and going slow with the steps!
Great video, now I could go and install my door. It's definitely not a 2 hour job and Anderson's instructions are not detailed enough to install without your video. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice note! Yes, there is no way to install an Andersen 2500 door in two hours, unless you have all the right tools and have installed several identical doors shortly before the one you are now installing. Then you *might* be able to install one in two hours. Honestly, it took me 8 hours or more to install the door in the video, but making a video slowed me down.

I could not have done this install without this video. I didn't have it on for part of it and I told my husband, "I need to see Bob." Thank you so much for doing this! It gave me the confidence to do it.
Excellent video. Thank you very much for taking the time to create this how to video. Your directions are great. I replaced an existing screen door. With removal of the old door, then installation of the new door plus putting away tools and discarding the trash, the job took me about 4 hours.
My husband installed an Anderson storm door a couple of weeks ago. We watched your video over 20 times, stopping at each point, to follow your instructions. You literally walked us through it. You made it seem easy, pointed out important issues, such which side of the door to have the opening, so the doorknob wouldn’t hit the one on the entrance door. Our door is hanging beautifully, thanks to your clear explanation and guidance. If you plan to install a storm door, don’t do a thing until you have watched this video at least three times.

Bob, I am pretty handy but who wants to wade through confusing directions when you so professionally laid out how to install the door. Thank you very much!
Purchased this door today (3-6-21) Watched your video before opening the box and before reading the directions. You made the installation look easy, we shall see. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for the video! We bought the door at Home Depot and the saleswoman told us it took her over 4 hours with her dad to complete it. We didn’t believe her, but it took over 2 hours for us to get frustrated from the instructions and goggle it. Your video came right up and we went step by step. Stopping and restarting. Very easy instructions. I would recommend your video, but not the door.
Thanks for the nice comment! I like the door -- so far (it's been only 2 months) it fits and works perfectly, and has reduced/eliminated the draft under my front door. It was not an easy installation, and it does require a good tool box. I had not installed one of these before, so what you see in this video is me installing it the first time. Glad to hear that I could help!
Now that I’ve had it up for a few days, I’m enjoying the door. Just upset that I have other holes from trying on my own before watching your video. I’m going to have to figure out how to hide them. Thanks again 😊
Nice video Bob. Funny story though......I was installing the lock set and wasn't paying much attention to your video at the time because I thought it was basic. Pushed it through from the inside but could not get the lock to turn. I tried everything but could not get it to turn. I let the door close and that made it worse. Not only could I not get the lock set to turn, but now the door was latched and I couldn't get it opened. I had to go out the back door and and around to the front, and then had to remove the latch rail to open the door. I watched your vid again and saw that the screw needed to be installed that positioned the lock set in place. Once I did that, all was well. My bad for looking ahead at the finish line and not paying attention. Thanks again for a great video.
Thank you for the video! I installed two in one day with no problem, all from watching your video. I never even looked at the directions and did it all by video and had no trouble doing both doors.
You're welcome! You've now installed more Andersen 2500 doors than I have, so I will be sure to ask you questions if there are any problems with mine. :-)
Excellent instructional video. Thank you for clarifying the hard to understand written directions. Anderson needs to pay you for this video. Thanks again for a clear and easy instructional video.
This is the best instructional video of side by side steps and tips to get this job done. I found the instructions not nearly as thorough as you. Thank you for the help with your video you are very good at explaining how to get the job done right
Thank you so much for the fantastic video! As a single mom who doesn't have a lot of experience doing home projects I was very intimidated about doing the door installation by myself. But I watched your video throughout doing my install and my new storm door works AMAZING!!! I couldn't be more proud and I so appreciate your instructions to assist me! Thank you!! THANK YOU ☺️
Great Video Bob. I did not even bother reading the instructions. I just pulled up your video on my phone and followed along to install my door. Great work and continue to produce instructional videos!
That is my intention. I bought the door today but not going to install until Next Weekend. I opened the end of the box hoping to find the instructions just to acquaint myself with the install. Didn't see the instructions and didn't want to open the whole thing up. So, EVERYTHING is on You Tube so lets go there.... This is a great video of the process and I don't see a need for the instruction book ... just my laptop and this video will do the trick.
Thank You so much Mr. Kovacs. I was just shopping Home Depot online and typed in the installation for this particular storm door. I am so glad I watched it. Very Detailed. Alotta steps I probably woulda missed. Thank You sir for your service.
Thank you for your video! Andersen's instructions were a bit confusing, however, I followed your steps on your video and they really made it so much easier to understand. Thanks again!
Best how to video on UA-cam, great job very professionally done and no bs. Right to the point without this how to the instruction would take you twice the time to install your door. Great job!
This was so helpful... After reading the installation instructions, I was thinking about getting someone to come help me with the install until I found this video... He was on point... Thanks Bob!!!
Just hung this door today. Thanks for the instructional video, it saved a lot of time and my Wife and Aussies are happy:). The only thing I might add to this and it’s pretty obvious is to keep a shop-vac handy. Clean as you go. From begging to end, there are a lot of metal shavings.
Yes, I'd like to do another couple of these. I sent a message to Andersen about doing exactly that, but heard nothing back. Considering the popularity of this video (2000+ views in less than two months is excellent, in my experience), people out there are hungry for detailed instructions like this. I'd love to do the Andersen 3000 door, and have just the place to install it.
Great instructions! I followed your video and it was much, much, better than the instructions. Not being overly knowledgeable about hanging a screen door, was able to finish In about 3 hours. Thank you!
Bob….words cannot express my appreciation for your video. To say the least i am no handyman. But with your video it made me appear to be one in my wife’s eyes!! THANK YOU!!!
Awesome job bob, super helpful video !. Those instructions they put in the box are very frustrating. Super glad I found your video. It made installing my new door relaxing.
I have to do three of these doors on my mom's neighbors house. So glad I found this video. Doesn't look fun at all, but at least now I have a great guide
Three of them is a lot of work! As one commenter (below) suggested, drill all the holes for the latch/lock with the door flat on sawhorses... that will be easier than drilling with the door mounted, as I show in this video. Especially with three doors -- get all set up to drill the necessary holes and knock them all out in a few minutes. That will save you time. Good luck!
Thanks for posting this video, Bob. I got immediately confused by the poor illustrations in the enclosed instructions and your video was a lifesaver. The door is installed the correct way and I could not be happier. As someone who trains people, I thought your video was perfect in demonstrating how to do it while explaining why things are done a certain way. Magnificent job!
Thank you! your video was excellent for me installing my Anderson door from home depot. You took your time explaing everything clearly and the video quality was excellent . I was very frustrated with the poor instructions that came inside the packaging.
Hey, Bob great video, and thanks. As others have said, I too threw my instructions out the window and followed your video. The hardest point I had was when I was aligning my door on the door frame. My door opening certainly was a hair out of square. Let's say a whole head of hair out of square! It was only at that point did I look at my instructions. I worked it out with a shim then moved on with the rest of your video. Anderson certainly did not make their instructions very clear. Thanks again!
Bob, this is a great video! I don’t usually comment on videos after projects but I ended up tossing aside the directions and playing/pausing your video step by step to put door on! Keep up the great work!
This was very very smooth thanks to your video. I'm an IT engineer, but still wasn't sure if this would go easy. Thanks for this video. Very easy to follow!
Excellent video, the only thing I would add is to tell people to make sure the strike plate closer is on the correct side. We had it all together and then realized it was set for a right hand door. We had to disassemble and move the striker (it is on a spring). Loved the instruction, it really, really helped.
Thanks first off your vid made the instructions almost useless. The only thing I needed them for was swapping the flipper latch the other way as my handle was on the other side . Keep them coming.
Thanks to this video I finished my installation with confidence ...One change I made was to use a Cone Step bit instead of the spade bit. It was very smooth and clean. Anderson should supply a link to this video to the purchasers of the door.
Thanks for the nice comment. Yes, the spade bit that Andersen supplied seemed strange to me. I have a stepped bit like you used, but I wanted to install the door using Andersen's directions and with the supplied materials (such as bits). Even still, I had to use a couple of my own twist bits toward the end, as the two bits Andersen supplied were not enough. In fact, I broke Andersen's 1/8-inch bit during the installation, and used one of my own to complete the job. Don't tell anyone that, however. :-)
Thank you for this video. Very thorough and thoughtful. I’ve put in several doors like this and I like that you emphasize that you really have to pay attention to what your doing at different points in the installation. You also show that this is not necessarily that easy of a task and it won’t be all finished inside of 2 hours.
Well Bob, the video was straight forward and easy to follow. Now I'll put it to the test. Today I mount my 30x80 Andwerson 2500 door. I've never attempted anything like this before. I'll leave a second reply and tell you how it goes. Wish me luck!
Great video! I installed mine today. Mine was a left hand I I crapped when I thought I screwed the holes in the door incorrectly. Didn’t realize you could remove the plate to get the latch to reverse. All good!!
Wish I wouldve watched this before installing my 2500 last weekend. It wouldve made my job a lot easier. But I still have the closer and trim to attach so at least I get to see how you put that on. Great video
This was an absolutely amazing video. Thanks for making the video at the pace you did with the helpful tips that you did. I was able to flawlessly install my door. I came across your video after searching Anderson's UA-cam page for a step by step instructions video to no avail. Thank you!!!
I stopped reading the installation guide fairly quickly. Your video was much easier to follow. Thank you for this video. I may have hired someone to install without your help.
My storm door sat in my garage for 6 months. I would have nightmares about asking another 'man' to install for me. I finally get the nerve to begin this intimidating task only to find I didn't even measure the door right! To make a long story short.. got the right door. Found your video and I did it. Thank you Bob. Couldn't have done it with out you! Now..how r u at plumbing? 😉
Ha! I do my own plumbing, but it is definitely not my specialty. I do have a couple of simple plumbing-related videos on UA-cam, but nothing complicated. I almost made one about installing a faucet, but the room was too small to get good video.
so important to check box contents. We got a toilet that we had our contractor install during our BR remodel. Well, the tank lid was broken. We're installing that same model in another BR so when it comes in we'll check it right in the store. We also had an experience with a faucet. We decided to splurge on a Touch20 from Delta. But when we got it installed, we discovered it was the regular model. A lot less money. We decided we liked it and were able to get a refund. We believe that someone had got 2 and put the cheaper model in the expensive model's box (this happens a lot sadly).
Yes. Part of the reason I discussed this in the video is to point out that there is no single parts list for this door -- you have to dig out two separate parts lists. I had them open the original box in the store, as the box was all bent out of shape and re-sealed at the top. I thought the glass might have been broken. Once I saw the glass was fine, I figured all the parts were there. Nope... someone had rooted out the inner box that contained the lockset.
You're welcome! I'm curious... where did you get your door? I noticed that the views for this video dropped way off, so I checked and saw that Andersen no longer makes the 2500 door. Where did you get yours?
@@BobKovacs we bought it one year ago at Home Depot, toying with the idea of hiring someone to install it since we are such novices regarding home improvement. Last winter was brutal without a storm door, so we decided to get brave and give it a shot by ourselves 😆. We live in northern Illinois about 10 minutes from the Wisconsin border, so we had no desire to go through another winter without it. It’s a great door, so I hope Andersen did not discontinue it. Thanks again!
Ah... yes, it is within the past year that Andersen stopped making the 2500 door. I agree... it is a fine storm door. Mine works perfectly after 4 years. I use the door you see in this video every day, and especially like the pull-down screen. I'm pretty sure that Andersen is no longer making this door. Next time you're at Home Depot, see if they have the Andersen 2500. My local Home Depots do not.
Professionally demonstrated. Will follow your step by step guide that I will find it easy to install the aluminum door. Installation directions out the window. Thank you.
Great video Bob, I am a handyman and your instructions are complete and thorough. I wish Andersen would print the time and detail for installation on the outside of this box. I would have paid more for the 3000 series for easier installation.
Thanks! I had not installed this door before, but I just had a suspicion that a UA-cam audience would be interested in a decent installation tutorial. It took us all day to shoot it (and install the door), but it was worth it.
Very helpful video, thank you. My suggestion is to drill the holes for the handle set early on and before hanging the door. I found it much easier to do that drilling with the door flat on the ground.
You are welcome. And I had not thought about drilling the holes as you describe, but you're right... that does sound easier. I was following the written directions for virtually all this video, with one slight change when I installed the lock. And that was only because I didn't quite have the video shot I needed.
This video is amazing! I was somewhat confused with the instructions. This video was a game changer. It was the perfect step-by-step instruction plus some extra tips to install this door. You should have Anderson Doors feature this video:) thank you so much!
Awesome content. I bought an Anderson 2000 door. Their instructions and online content was terrible. The door is great. Watched your video twice and no problem. Thanks. Mike from Atlnta
@@BobKovacs So, I did my installation of the Andersen 2500 storm door today. I never read a single instruction sheet in the packaging, and just followed your video as I went along, and the door turned out perfectly. I am glad to hear that you got it done and are happy with both the door and the video. I actually earn money on these videos, and that gives me some satisfaction. But it is also highly gratifying to hear that I've helped people and made their lives just a little easier. It was just my wife and me working on this video, and it pretty much took us all day to get the shots we needed for a comprehensive tutorial -- pretty exhausting, even if I don't look tired at the end.
Thanks for the good story and leaving a comment, Jack... I really appreciate it!
Excellent video Bob! I only looked at the instruction sheet to verify I had all the parts. Thank you for doing this, it was EXTREMELY helpful.
You're welcome... glad to hear it helped!
Thank you. We didn’t understand the instructions at all. Your video saved us so much time. You explained everything clearly.
You are welcome... glad it was helpful.
You are welcome... and thank you for the kind comments.
This is the best instructional video of side by side steps and tips to get this job done. I found the instructions not nearly as thorough as you. Thank you for the help with your video you are very good at explaining how to get the job done right
You're welcome... thank you for the kind comment!
Thank you!! THANK YOU ☺️
You are very welcome. This is not a minor household task, so I can imagine that your neighbors see you in a new light. Good for you!
Great Video Bob. I did not even bother reading the instructions. I just pulled up your video on my phone and followed along to install my door. Great work and continue to produce instructional videos!
Thank you for the lovely comment!
I absolutely hate reading instructions. Instead, I watched this video and hung the door step by step. Very informative and helpful.
Thanks!
Without your help, Bob, I would have lost my mind attempting to install this door. As others have said, your video was very helpful. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Great video Bob. Thanks a lot!! A lot easier than fumbling through the instructions.
You are welcome!
Thank You so much Mr. Kovacs. I was just shopping Home Depot online and typed in the installation for this particular storm door. I am so glad I watched it. Very Detailed. Alotta steps I probably woulda missed. Thank You sir for your service.
You are welcome... glad I could help!
Thank you for your video! Andersen's instructions were a bit confusing, however, I followed your steps on your video and they really made it so much easier to understand. Thanks again!
You're welcome... glad it helped!
Best how to video on UA-cam, great job very professionally done and no bs. Right to the point without this how to the instruction would take you twice the time to install your door. Great job!
Thank you for the lovely comment!
This video was much simpler than the instructions that came with the door. This really saved me a lot of time. Thank you for posting!
You're welcome!
This was so helpful... After reading the installation instructions, I was thinking about getting someone to come help me with the install until I found this video... He was on point... Thanks Bob!!!
You are welcome!
Thank you for sharing the step by step installation process. Just got done installing my door. Thanks for the help.
You're welcome!
Just hung this door today. Thanks for the instructional video, it saved a lot of time and my Wife and Aussies are happy:). The only thing I might add to this and it’s pretty obvious is to keep a shop-vac handy. Clean as you go. From begging to end, there are a lot of metal shavings.
Yes, that's true... good tip!
Andersen should hire you to do the instalation instructions.
Thank you!
You're welcome... thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Bob….words cannot express my appreciation for your video.
To say the least i am no handyman.
But with your video it made me appear to be one in my wife’s eyes!!
THANK YOU!!!
You're welcome... glad to hear it worked out for you.
Was in tears trying to install this door until I found your video! Thank you for making this so simply and easy to understand. You’re a lifesaver!
You're very welcome!
This video was a LIFE SAVER!!! Literally did the exact same thing as you instructed and had 0 problems! Very well done and thank you so so much!!
You're welcome... thanks for the nice comment!
Awesome job bob, super helpful video !. Those instructions they put in the box are very frustrating. Super glad I found your video. It made installing my new door relaxing.
Thanks... glad to hear it helped!
Good luck!
@@BobKovacs Thank you so much Bob! Advice is very much appreciated!
You're welcome... and thank you for the lovely comment!
Thank you! your video was excellent for me installing my Anderson door from home depot. You took your time explaing everything clearly and the video quality was excellent . I was very frustrated with the poor instructions that came inside the packaging.
You're welcome... glad to know that it helped!
You did an extraordinary job of explaining the installation. It sure was very very helpful…
Thank you... that is kind of you to say.
I don't know that I would have installed this door as frustration-free as I did without your video. Thank you so much for making this!
You are welcome!
You're welcome... thanks for sharing your story!
Bob, this is a great video! I don’t usually comment on videos after projects but I ended up tossing aside the directions and playing/pausing your video step by step to put door on! Keep up the great work!
Thanks... will do!
I’m a DIY Diva. This video was a godsend. Thank you so much!👍🏽
You're welcome.
This was very very smooth thanks to your video. I'm an IT engineer, but still wasn't sure if this would go easy. Thanks for this video. Very easy to follow!
You're very welcome... thank you for the nice note!
Very neat and professional installation. Way to go Bob!
Thanks!
Thank you for saving my marriage. Frustration all around until we found you! Many Blessings
Ha ha... you are welcome!
Thank you sir, the instructions weren't completely clear but with the help of your video I got the job done. Much obliged
You're welcome!
Excellent video, the only thing I would add is to tell people to make sure the strike plate closer is on the correct side. We had it all together and then realized it was set for a right hand door. We had to disassemble and move the striker (it is on a spring). Loved the instruction, it really, really helped.
Thanks for the tip... and for the nice comment.
Thanks first off your vid made the instructions almost useless. The only thing I needed them for was swapping the flipper latch the other way as my handle was on the other side . Keep them coming.
You're welcome... glad I could help!
Thank you so much. I just couldn't get the intial hinge rail started. Your video was a huge help.
You're welcome... glad it helped!
Thank you so much! I never could've done this by myself without this video!!!
You're very welcome!
You are amazing. I followed your directions and this worked out perfectly. Thank you for helping others.
You're welcome... thanks for the nice note!
Thanks Bob you made this installation a breeze. Much more understanding than the instructions guide.
You're welcome... glad I could be of help.
Great video! Following you was SO much easier than reading the directions or watching the Anderson video. :)
Thanks... glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this video. Very thorough and thoughtful. I’ve put in several doors like this and I like that you emphasize that you really have to pay attention to what your doing at different points in the installation. You also show that this is not necessarily that easy of a task and it won’t be all finished inside of 2 hours.
You are welcome... and thank you for the nice comment!
This was a good clear and straight to the point installation video or "let me sell you this" type video. It was everything I needed. Thumbs uP! Bob
Thanks!
Well Bob, the video was straight forward and easy to follow. Now I'll put it to the test. Today I mount my 30x80 Andwerson 2500 door. I've never attempted anything like this before. I'll leave a second reply and tell you how it goes. Wish me luck!
Good luck!
Great video! I installed mine today. Mine was a left hand I I crapped when I thought I screwed the holes in the door incorrectly. Didn’t realize you could remove the plate to get the latch to reverse. All good!!
Thanks!
Wish I wouldve watched this before installing my 2500 last weekend. It wouldve made my job a lot easier. But I still have the closer and trim to attach so at least I get to see how you put that on. Great video
Thanks!
This video was awesome. Took us step by step to install our door
Thanks!
This was an absolutely amazing video. Thanks for making the video at the pace you did with the helpful tips that you did. I was able to flawlessly install my door. I came across your video after searching Anderson's UA-cam page for a step by step instructions video to no avail. Thank you!!!
You are welcome... glad to hear it was helpful!
So glad I found your Video. I was getting ready to give up with installing it myself. Thanks.
You're welcome... glad I could help.
I stopped reading the installation guide fairly quickly. Your video was much easier to follow. Thank you for this video. I may have hired someone to install without your help.
You're welcome!
Incredible “how to” video, we followed your video step by step and the installation was perfect . . . Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video Bob! I'm working on my door today, the visual really helps on what I need to do.
You're welcome... glad to be of help!
Thank You. Big help. Really appreciate you taking the time to create this.
You're welcome!
Professionally demonstrated. Will follow your step by step guide that I will find it easy to install the aluminum door. Installation directions out the window. Thank you.
You're welcome.
Awesome video! Made my install less confusing, and was easier to follow than the instructions. Thank you!
You're welcome... glad it helped!
Thanks so much for the vid. I found the instructions a little unclear and doing it side by side in this video made this so easy.
You're welcome... glad to hear it helped.
Fantastic video! I don’t think I could’ve done this without your help. Thanks so much for making this 🙏
You are welcome... glad it helped!
Because of this video, my husband and I didnt give up. Tysm💞
You’re welcome... I'm glad you got it done.
Thanks a million Bob, got our screen door up lickty split with your video!
You're welcome.
Thank you sooooo much, I couldn’t install this door without your video, you’re the best. Thanks again 🙏
You're very welcome!
Great Idea, that will be my plan when I install next weekend.
This video is amazing! I was somewhat confused with the instructions. This video was a game changer. It was the perfect step-by-step instruction plus some extra tips to install this door. You should have Anderson Doors feature this video:) thank you so much!
You're welcome... glad it helped!
Great video didn’t even bother to look at the instructions 3 hr install following ur video step by step
Glad to hear it helped... thanks for stopping by!
i was gonna hire someone to put it in for me, after watching your video i did it myself with ease. ty
Good for you, Mr. Mayhem. It's amazing what we can do with a little confidence.
Could not have done this installation without this video!
Thanks!
Thank you very much for the video. It was extremely helpful. I didn’t think the instructions that came with the door was great.
You're welcome... glad it helped!
Awesome content. I bought an Anderson 2000 door. Their instructions and online content was terrible. The door is great. Watched your video twice and no problem. Thanks. Mike from Atlnta
Thanks for the note... glad to hear that the video helped!
Great Video, Bob!!! I just purchased this same door and plan to use your video for my installation. Thank you, Sir!
You are welcome... glad I could help!
@@BobKovacs So, I did my installation of the Andersen 2500 storm door today. I never read a single instruction sheet in the packaging, and just followed your video as I went along, and the door turned out perfectly. Took me over 3 hours, but I move kinda slow and take a lot of break due to MS. Thanks again, Bob! You made this job so much easier. Wish I could buy ya a beer, or a coffee, or whatever wets your whistle. Cheers!
Knowing so many people are using this video successfully really makes it worthwhile.
Thank *you*, Dave, for the kind words.
Thank you very much, I did it myself, :) thanks for taking the time to help others. God bless you.
You're welcome!
thanks bob very helpful i just followed you step by step was done inside of 2 hours and very happy all went well
You're welcome... glad it helped!
