During my practice this morning, I noticed that I was using my diaphragm to make the staccato happen, rather than a continuous airstream. I have just watched the video. I think my focus will be on single tonguing. So thankyou.

Seems like a good plan! That's how you develop good tongue technique! Best of luck practicing!

Thanks again for another very helpful video. I havn't spent much time on double and triple tonquing because I'm still at the fingering, intonation and single tonguing stage. I hope to study this soon however. In the mean time, what is your opinion on the anchored tongue technique? I am sure everyone's mouth and oral cavity is as unique as their face and some tonque positions will suit some and not others. I wish I could remember the site or sites that advocated this method, (for most but not all, depending on personal anatomy). It may have been Claude Gordon or one of his students. Anyway, this instructor said that many could benefit from placing the tip of the tongue against the back of the lower teeth(gently) and shut off the air flow by moving the part of the tonque 1/2 to 3/4 inch further back, to and fro against the hard palate just above the upper teeth. He says this is usually better than moving the tip of the tonque to and fro against the same spot because it requires less movement thus more speed and because most of the tonque can stay out of the way of the air flow and make for a more open oral cavity thus better tone. It seems to work for me but I am a novice in these matters and reluctant to trust my own judgment. What say ye, oh learned one?

what would you say to practice tonguing less heavy. I notice often with my tonguing it is very heavy sounding like I am using too much possible.
