Thank you so much for this curved waistband series. I find it incredibly helpful not only for the curved waistband drafting but also construction tips. I always have an issue catching the inside of the waistband when I'm topstitching it down, and will definitely try hand basting in the ditch for my next pair of jeans. 😁
You’re so welcome! I’m really glad you found it helpful. There are two other ways that I can think off the top of my head that I like to finish waistbands. For the pattern piece closest to your body, you can finish it with bias tape or add seam allowance and do a double folded hem before top stitching. That way when you topstitch, the piece is already cleanly finished and also quite a bit longer than where the stitch line will be. That way it will look nice and clean from the front side and the back side without worrying about basting 😊 hope that makes sense. It’s a bit hard to verbalize without demonstrating, but my trouser sewing pattern will be out soon and that’s how I plan to finish the waistband.
@@jessilous_closet That does make sense! I will play around with those methods too. I appreciate you taking the time to write this out 🥰 Did you need to do a curved waistband with the Helene jeans? It's interesting, I am pretty curvy but it seems like the waist band on them is so high that it sits at a point that no longer needs to account for a curve 🤔 It looks like the Persephones might be a slightly lower rise (although still pretty high) that would necessitate a curved band.
@@aciarnable So for the helene jeans, the rise was far too high for my personal liking. I ended up taking 1/2in out of the rise and created a curved waistband. With just those modifications, they fit perfectly 🤩 the rise on the Persephones is right where I want it to be so the curved waist and is the only modification I make to them. I have a full video of all the toiles and tribulations of my helene jeans if you want to check it out haha
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been wondering about the best way to do this for some time now, your video helped a ton!
Yay! I’m so glad you found it helpful 👏🥰

@@jessilous_closet Cool, I will! Also just finished re-doing the waistband on my Helenes and I'm so happy with the result. Thanks again!
