tbf, fate series started out as an eroge around 2004. The franchise has been built for 11 years when FGO was released on 2015. Saying the gameplay sucks ass is just helping the argument that the franchise is so beloved that fans would still play and throw literal money at the company. So yes, r34 helped just like it helped other games. But to argue the franchise entirely/mainly rely on r34 to keep the game alive is just absurd. The release of Global version of the game helped garner more people in the West too.
Also i think Tectone missed the point of, that if the anime wasn't popular there wouldn't be any r34 art in the first place, the reason there is so many r34 art of Fate is due to the popularity of the brand which the anime was a huge reason for that. Yes Fate started out as an eroge but it wasn't about the sex scenes that sold players on the visual novel, it was the story and characters. The gameplay of Fate GO isn't really the main draw of the game (farming is 90% of the game), it's is the characters and the stories whether it be the MSQ or the event stories.
What's crazy about SnowBreak Fanservice is the DEVS are anti censorship. They TOLD players how to UNCENSOR the game by putting a text file that players can edit Localization from 0 to 1 to remove it. If you aren't able to save the file, Advance Properties > Security > Edit permissions and add your Username/Account > Save. They were forced to censor it again recently and even remove Interactive scenes. Editing the Localization txt file adds them back and uncensors the outfits as well.
It definitely can make something easier to watch or play. Recently I’ve been playing Snowbreak Containment Zone. The game on its mechanics and gameplay alone isn’t that good, but the fan service is some of the best in gacha. I couldn’t believe China was allowing it…until they didn’t. It is so extreme that it’s been having numerous times of censorship from China. There is an easy fix to get rid of the censorship for people not in China, but it’s definitely another level. I genuinely enjoy the game and I am convinced it is the fanservice that is keeping me there. The most recent Marian skin actually got me to spend money which is unheard of for me. Katya is hot AF too. I don’t spend money on gacha games.
I feel like this topic comes up once a month bruh 💀 Long story short, its not necessary on a FUNDAMENTAL level, but it IS still another form of artistic expression, therefore it should be appreciated. It can also still be used as strong literary devices in stories like ME!ME!ME! and Chainsaw Man. This is why NSFW artists are still artists, because they’re still putting their creative expression to use. (I’d argue NSFW artists are the best artists because all they do is study anatomy) Jane Doe really made the entire internet question whether or not fanservice is the spawn of Satan 🤣
Jane doe also proved that many MANY people get blinded by the obvious fan service and don't stop to think about why said character is the way they are.
It’s okay if it doesn’t deviate from the main concept, lately a lot of creators/game/ publishers or other media, embraced fanservice and abuse it, to the point that their main focus shifted. Sometimes can be a good thing and sometimes not.
sometimes is not about the Fan Service, is how much you wish they had it. that's one of the reasons Rule 34 is so huge, because people go there to get the fan service they need so much. Characters personalities and designs sometimes are made specificly to "edge" those feelings in players, so they fall in love, so they spend more, because "WAIFU NEEDS A HOME". Btw, about Eula's banner, everyone who really wanted Eula had literally years to save, i was one of them, those calculations don't take free gems in mind so it's probably a big reason she's down there.
Fan-service is now an element that has become so familiar that it is not only found in gacha games but also in other games For me, if it disappeared, it would be fine, just a bit boring because I've gotten used to it 😅

Lol, last comment, but I forgot to mention that it actually wasn't the first animation of that series, or rather, something in that world. Fans will know what I mean when I say that. The name escapes me at the moment, but it featured a boy who could see lines and cut through anything he chose. Those were the very first works of the author and the anime production that later led to "Fate/Stay Night," I believe.
It's cultural too. To European audiences it is more important that characters are relatable. More likely to be annoyed if they know their buttons are getting pushed cheaply. I feel audiences are moving towards this. Compare a conversation between 2 homesick goblins on a roof in Baldur's Gate to a supposedly traumatized girl who lost her mum in Starfield. I cared about the goblins. And I wish the girl would just shut up. It's not supposed to be like this. It's bigger than just saying that is bad writing. It's about erring on the side of caution when it comes to the player's good taste or intelligence.
30:01 Speak for yourself my guy. I found Touhou through the Bad Apple fan video, and got pulled in by the music and the fighting game (TH 12.3). Just about every game and series I like and consume today I didn't find first through lewd artwork. Does lewd artwork help the series stay relevant and build a bigger community? Absolutely, but saying 90% of people are introduced to anything through lewd artwork I think is a rather b(a)ld statement. But I also don't spend a lot of time on X (formerly known as Twitter) either, and I'm aware of how much lewd artwork gets posted on there. Fate could be an exception since it started off as a lewd visual novel, but I'd also argue the anime has introduced and grown the community more than fan work and the visual novel. The anime is also how I learned of Fate, but I don't really consume or care about it. Now if you replace lewd artwork with memes, I'd believe that more, because people die if they are killed.
Tectone watch Marian's uncensored Snowbreak interactive scene onstream (BibiSum's video shows the whole thing), Katya has one too but this one is more recent. The whole Chinese govt. forced censorship (which has hit the game twice now) forced all the interactions of the scene to be removed, and the girls to get covered with clouds lmfao, it's hilarious. Thankfully every platform has a braindead easy method to uncensor (Steam's takes like 30 seconds), so it's not a huge deal. But with 2.3 patch, there has been a huge CN community drama that had the entire patches main story removed and writer fired. "Master Love" and the Ghost Bar have been going insane
LOL, he keeps mentioning the first one, but it's actually Fate/stay night. Oops, I've messed it up, but you get the gist. The anime was released before the other related media. I think that's the case, but don't hold me to it because I'm not entirely sure. But yeah, I won't lie. When I first searched for H. Saber, there wasn't much available. So, it seems it just started gaining popularity, and then people began creating more. For a dude who hasn't gotten into fate yet, saying such crap is fucking hilarious. I like you Tecy, but honesty man you, who doesn't even know who Archer is, or even which one is which ever, besides the name of classification, and not the name the individual character shows the order of operations for Fate's claim to fame, from your perspective. For a long time fate fan, who has watched the anime first, I understood and understand very quickly, upon looking up simple info on the series that the series claim to fame is a combination of both Amazing story and hentai. The VN had sex scenes in it, and while it was there, a majority of the fanbase as well as the author understood that it's a significant take away and only added because as a VN in Japan, that was the only way the author could get it out on the market. Anyone who's into fate knows it has good hentai and we don't care, do you know why? Because we can differentiate between a good fictional fucking story, and its porn which is ontop a Hill of Fans, upon a pile of Authors Besides that, the homie in the video didn't even mention Garcher fanservice(Muramasa) but tecy don't like dude's who are cool. Gramps, Edmond, Shizuki, and ect are prime examples of authentic fanservice.
Not necessary but it sure as hell makes a good game better I cannot think of a single game that wouldn't be improved by having at least one optional skimpy outfit for whatever female characters the game has except maybe concord
For some people it makes a game worse, they feel as though you are belittling their intelligence by trying to draw you in with such outfits. This is fine, it's literally just target audience. Some people like it and some people don't and as a company you just pick whichever one you want to market to. It's not complicated.
@@EyesDontCryWhy you making it complicated tho? An outfit is optional, so if someone doesn't like it they can just not use it. Your point would work if the entire game is based around fanservice. But for just an outfit that is optional your point doesn't make sense.
@@xhydrox the existence of the outfit shows an intention on the creators part, it was put into the game for a reason and those reasons can come off as again belittling of the players intelligence, thinking they need to give you such things to keep your attention. And I'm not exclusively talking about optional outfits, I'm broadly talking about Fanservice and why people don't like it. This person said fanservice DEFINATELY makes a good game better, I'm addressing why not because some people would see it as either bothersome if it is unoptional or cheap if it is an option at all. Imagine for example I go to a bar, I enter the bar and there's a side room for prostitution (it's legal in this hypothetical). Now it's optional and I don't have to go in there, but maybe I'm a person who just doesn't like prostitution and knowing it's available at this bar I'm in just makes me uncomfortable and want to leave. I'm not saying this person shouldn't just leave if they don't like it, but I am saying their reaction is a valid one and an example of how even having something be optional can turn you away from the whole thing because at the end of the day you know that optional thing is there, why it's there and what it means. For these people even optional Fanservice is still something that incluences how they feel about a game and why it wouldn't always be an improvement for everybody. This isn't a novel concept at all, it's just marketing. If you're players want Fanservice and it makes the game better for them, then it's better. If the players you want to target don't like Fanservice, then it's not better. Very simple stuff.
It's the complete opposite, do you think people are playing tf2 and csgo all this time later because of the sexy scotsman or CT? Fanservice doesn't matter to longevity of a game, good characters and good gameplay is what keeps people around that's it.
@EyesDontCry yeah no shit it's the opposite, it's called a joke. Thanks for the unnecessary response, but i do prefer my games have some fanservice in it. It's why I'm so excited for Gfl2 😆
@@azureblaze3875 I don't know if you are aware but people unironically say yes in this comment section. You are joking, plenty of people are not and there's no indication which it is through simple text.
lol. I hate to bust both of your all's bubbles on this but if you go back to the source material like the light novel or the Munga and more recently. was remastered in the original I believe of what got it started was the virtual novel Though I won't 100 percent that. cause for me, the anime was the very first day I seen of it. And I'm talking about the old version of it, which back then. the **** are. whatever we want to call it. The H really wasn't all that popular then. But the lot novel is definitely has some scenes in it that makes you think that. So yeah, it's just one of those typical anime slash Munga Light novels that has that in it. But I would say for most of the people that was just into anime and not the H then yes, it you would see the anime before you would anything else.
Not neccessary, but welcome by me either way. Like, I like PGR even tho there is almost no fanservice involved, everythings modest asf. Many of the character models have a lot of robotics to them, too. But this game also has both gender charscters. Its more like what tech said: Just dont try to pretend everything has to be 110% modest and exposeed shoulders ruin minds or some crap. They like "diversity", well people that are sexy as fuk exist within that diverse world. Some dont even need gaudy makeup to do it, its a reality. Not even Snowbreak needed to go full coomer, either, imo. it just needed to be 'less modest' in its characters' tactical gear appearance. I also think IF the game has nothing but females as playable characters, then it definitely wont help popularity by being too modest.
i'm considered a very attractive woman so i'm not triggered by being portrayed in games, lol. but i still enjoy some kind of variety in characters. the first silent hill 2 character looks too strict while i think the other one is pretty cute. i don't think she has to be hot.
If this the kind of fan-sercice like beeing able to play vergil in DMC5,why not, if this the kind of fan-service like the twins in mh rise that scream "make porn of us!!" It just tiredsome, let me play my oversize sword right now, i will check on u on r34 later

I would say the cross resemblance carried raiden and yae more than fan service
bro cooked boiled water for 30mins to produce no food.
Needed, no
Appreciated, yes
Straight up !
The only really fan service im into would be anything cool. I like 40k because cool. Helldivers has a lot of big booms which is cool. I like Dragonball because big buff men beating each other is ho- I mean cool.
The tone only understands projection he has 0 other analysis
Yes.. 10000% necessary
DEI games are fanservice too, just different kind of fans
Because we can differentiate between a good fictional fucking story, and its porn which is ontop a Hill of Fans, upon a pile of Authors
Besides that, the homie in the video didn't even mention Garcher fanservice(Muramasa) but tecy don't like dude's who are cool. Gramps, Edmond, Shizuki, and ect are prime examples of authentic fanservice.
holy fuvk, Dream girlfriend is still alive? D: I'm blown away.
Yes fanservie is awesome.
Not necessary but it sure as hell makes a good game better
I cannot think of a single game that wouldn't be improved by having at least one optional skimpy outfit for whatever female characters the game has except maybe concord
The true answer is hell yes!!! Games with good gameplay and character models will pull you in but fanservice will keep you playing 😁
It's the complete opposite, do you think people are playing tf2 and csgo all this time later because of the sexy scotsman or CT?
Fanservice doesn't matter to longevity of a game, good characters and good gameplay is what keeps people around that's it.
@@EyesDontCry all the porn addicts are completely fried in the brain. you are 100% correct
@EyesDontCry lol no problem, I read some other comments, but i figured ppl would see through an obvious joke like that.
I mean, I like fan service. But at times I feel like there's waaay too much fan service. Like tone it down a notch.
It isn't necessary but what sane person could say no lol
It's not technically necessary but I'm 100% less likely to keep playing a gacha game if it doesn't have it
But I would say for most of the people that was just into anime and not the H then yes, it you would see the anime before you would anything else.
yes
Latte Cookie and White Lily Cookie beach skins tho?! 🤔👀
(I'm playing by the way 😅)
I dunno about fan service in horror games though.
If you want to save DMC Peak of combat do a collab with Lost in Deepspace (to increase "motivation").
POC already dead bro.
@@Celica_42 Too bad then.
ill find the one piece and become gooner king
Aaaaabsolutelyyyy.
You want a real fan service? Just look up Horizon Walker XD.
If this the kind of fan-sercice like beeing able to play vergil in DMC5,why not, if this the kind of fan-service like the twins in mh rise that scream "make porn of us!!" It just tiredsome, let me play my oversize sword right now, i will check on u on r34 later
What’s Genshin gonna do when they finish the story tho
oh i actually play that ad lol
a 30 min video that says nothing and repeats itself 20 times to make the run time longer because there is not really a script to follow
@Tsunul LETS FUCKIN GOOO
Question: Do we need Only Fan
yummy reaction content slop
Yes
Hu tao is the goat at c1
Literally play Snowbreak already Teccy
Genshin was a terrible example to focus on for so long from the video creator. Genshin doesn't have fan service to compare to pre fan service genshin
Ooooooohhhhh coooooookies lol
its how zzz tries to bait people into playing the game, with gooner trailers
The real answer is no
Fate ruined everything.
They got rid of the best rider they had.
