Here are my human's traits. What about yours? Palmaris Longus: Yes Hand Clasping: Left Thumb on Top Extra Bent Thumb: Yes Murderer's Thumb: No Thumbprint: Whorl Foot: Big Toe Longer Earlobe: Unattached Double Jointed: No My Score: .02 (2%)
Interestingly enough, I have one attached earlobe and one detached earlobe due to being a conjoined twin (specifically a chimera). This means that I absorbed my twin in utero and my body continued to form using both my own DNA and my twin’s non-identical DNA. So I’m made with two sets of unique DNA.
@StephaniePno I’ve made maaany jokes about eating my twin lol. Along with this, I’ve said “I asserted my dominance too hard,” “I got hungry,” “I plagiarized off of their genes,” and “I needed building materials.” It definitely opens up the door for a lot of epic (yet sad) jokes.
I'm actually happy that someone mentioned brachydactyly.I don't have type D brachydactyly, but I do have type A3 in which the pinky finger is extra short. They're both roughly equally rare, and occur in 2% of the population like the video said.
I have this as well. My pinky finger's bones are so tiny it's funny. My daughter can bend her thumb's distal bit backwards 90 degrees, and when I do a joint exam on her that joint feels like it may not even be attached; I know it is, but man it's loose as hell. Her second and third toes are also grown together, skin only for 2/3 of the length.
I know this wasn't supposed to be scientifically rigorous but just wanted to point out this out (and by being the first specimen to do so in this comment section, it makes me pretty rare). - Many of the traits aren't completely independent, i.e. some traits are often inherited together. So you can't calculate the probability of combination of traits by simply multiplying the probabilities of single ones together. For example, if you have shovel-shaped incisors, you have lower chances of having blond hair than randomly picked human specimen would have.
This is very true, but that’s not what this experiment is telling us. The joint hyper mobility score is indicative of being neurodivergent, as most neurodivergent people have hyper mobility in various parts of the body Other odd traits can be indicative of sex as well. Most female people will have index and ring fingers that are the same length as each other, whereas most male people will have ring fingers that are longer than their index fingers. I’m an outlier in that category myself though as I have a longer index finger, so no clue what to make of that. This experiment does allow you to see how likely it is that other people also have all these same traits as you though. It doesn’t calculate the likelihood of other people similar to you, like if you’re neurodivergent it’s not comparing you to other neurodivergent people specifically, because it’s comparing you to the entire world’s population and how rare it is for you to have the specific combination of traits you do all combined. So yes there are billions of other people who have hyper mobile joints or other odd traits similar to you, but how many of them have the same total combination of traits as you is the question. For example, my score was 0.0022. Taking that and multiplying it by the total world population (7.846 billion times 0.0022) means that their are about 17.3 million people in the world that have the same combination of traits listed in this video as I do. Sure that’s a huge number, but that’s still only 0.22 percent of the entire world population
@@artsy_dragon_creations Hmmm yeah I got 0.0003 That's a still a lot. But I wouldn't want to have a super rare and special disease, being different often can mean a mutation that isn't helpful. Still I find this exercise more fun than your neurodivergent suggestion. That's way harder to check for and more potentially controversial. I've had people ask or accuse me of being some kind of neurodivergent or another and what tests I did online I only scored high enough for depression. I'm also in a country where blue eyed blonds are pretty rare, especially in the south where I am, it's generally considered a beautiful combination so I got SOOOO much pushback for dyeing my hair black. Now I've been doing it for 10 years so most ppl think I've always been brunet like them. 😏If I mention my true color usually 1/5 ppl will complain I made a horrible mistake and ruined my hair, rest I guess keep their opinions to themselves because they have manners.
I have a pretty severe knee hyperextension. It’s always fun seeing people’s reactions when I tell them I can bend my knees backwards and then when I actually show them, but I’ll likely have to get knee surgery in the future because I already have problems with knee pain in my early 20’s and I also have knocked knees, which my grandma just got surgery for a few years ago.
This wonderful human here (aka me) has a hitchhiker's thumb, puts her right thumb over her left when clasping hands together, and has a very strange thumbprint that is unlike the ones you mentioned in the video. Mine is like 2 loops that swirl around one another -- it is so unique that I can never get away with a crime ever XD
Didn't expect this, but here I go! Lmao, I always referred to these as Megan Fox thumbs. It seemed like the tabloids were always looking for physical imperfections of hers when she was the it girl
I have 0.0019 (0.19%) .12 no palmaris tendon .55 left on top .30 hitchhiker's thumb .98 no murderer's thumb .30 whorl thumbprint (i think, mine was hard to see) .42 longer 2nd toe (note below) .82 unattached earlobe .994 no ear pit .80 no hyper extension With the additional ones at the end, it is .00038 (.038%) .67 no widow's peak .75 no dimples .60 curly hair .73 yes tongue rolling .89 right-handed Note: I actually also have partial syndactyly (webbed digits) on my 2nd and 3rd toes. They're connected up to about the last centimeter. Only 1 in 2500 people have syndactyly so if I include that: syndactyly .0004 My rarity is 0.00000015 (0.000015% or 1.5*10^-5%) Multiplied by 8 billion, that would leave only 1200 people with this combination of traits.
I think I’ve dated at least three girls who have these same interesting traits (give or take two or three) and I gotta ask… are you bipolar also? Asking for science and also to know if I have a problem with being attracted to unique psychos
I had listened to an explanation that the second toe isn’t longer, but the bone in the foot that the big toe is attached to is shorter… and this can explain ankle injuries. I only have a “longer second toe” on my right foot and I have fractured, sprained, and strained my right ankle several times. I have not injured my left ankle. 🤷🏼♀️
I dont know how I got .0007, but I do know that doctors hate my anatomical differences. Once, they tries to anesthezise on side of my leg but the other side got numb. Every time I get dental treatments they have to numb my whole mouth because my nerves go where they want to go. But that's what make me, me. Also annoyed doctors (because their books are not accurate) are funny.
I combined all the percentages, including the example one and the ones during the sponsorship, and got 0.00731546%. But when I added the extra eyelashes, I got 7.31546E-9 as a decimal, whatever that translates to as a percentage. Point is, I am extremely rare
Hitchhiker's thumb is extremely common in the south. In my 25 years of life, I've only met two or three other people with straight thumbs like mine. Everyone else's thumbs look like boomerangs.
I just realized that my thumbs have different shapes. Left is the common one and right is the whorl shape. Also did not know that attached earlobe isnt common. This is wild. Now I'm going to start checking other people's lobes lol
Anatomy is SUPER fun!! I feel it should be taught right from kindergarten, starting simple and becoming more complex through high school. Knowing how our bodies work would maybe reduce harmful habits like smoking or overeating sooner in life. And if we start with our own bodies, perhaps it would make biology class a little less scary.
Hey, I don't grow hair on my legs. At all. I inherited from my father, who didn't grow hair past mid-calf. As a woman who has been duped into keeping her legs hairless for appearance (and for comfort while horseback riding), this is actually a rare trait that is actually highly advantageous for me. So there, I guess.
@@DeetotheDubs ...That's a fair question. I do shave my toes and armpits, and I have little tufts around my ankles that I clear out. I guess I feel like I definitely would shave my legs if I had hair to shave, is all.
@@DeetotheDubsrom childhood, women are taught that having hair on their legs is bad and unacceptable through media and surrounding representations, it is treated as "disgusting" while in most cases, men are never gaslighted in this way about their body hair (there are exceptions, of course) women are duped by society into shaving. They are never given an option, because it is presented to them as something they must do. Most are immediately taught the moment their legs and bodies grow hair to shave. They are never told its OK to have hair. Shame regarding body hair is built into them by society from birth.
@@angustheterrible3149it's not about shame, it's about what is attractive, we as men do things to be more attractive to women but we don't cry and blame society standards, being hairy is a masculine trait so when women have less hair on thier body it's more feminine hence more attractive, the same way taller stronger men are more attractive cuz tall and strong is masculine, just be glad u can shave it off, men can't make themselves taller or harrier, I had a girl laugh before cuz I have like no chest hair
I didn't know about hitchiker's thumb until I thumbed up at someone in middle school once and he was like "wtf are you doing with your figner" and I looked down and realized it's going all the way back, and I thought it's completely normal and everyone can do that
Lol, the same thing happened with my hands. I just have extremely flexible hands, I can bend all of my fingers a full 270° (from flat against my palm to a right angle back), can bend my wrists almost 270° (nearly flat forward and then a right angle back), can easily bend my thumb flat against my wrist, and can crack almost every joint in my hand (wrists twice, all three joints of every finger, the middle joint of my thumbs, and I think the base joint of my thumbs, but I’m not completely sure because I crack it by pulling and twisting my thumb, so it could be something else). I thought it was completely normal until someone noticed me fidgeting with my fingers (nervous habit, so I do it a lot) and was freaked out by it. Sorry, I ramble on too much.
Looks like I got real lucky while picking a random human being, here are his traits! Palmaris Longus: 88% Right thumb on top: 45% Hitchhikers Thumb: 30% Murderer's Thumb=No: 98% Loop Fingerprint: 65% Squared Foot: 5% Unattached Earlobe: 82% Preauricular Pit: 0.6% Hypermobility: 20% (I'm not adding additional traits because the more traits you add the rarer your list which doesn't give you a proper rarity when comparing to others.) And now for the final calculations to find the rarity of my personal human. 0.88*0.45*0.30*0.98*0.65*0.05*0.82*0.006*0.20=0.000372% which means that there are only 29,760 people on earth with the exact same traits as me!
I have the thumb that doesn't stop. I cut my flexor tendon and the surgeon left it like a "normal" thumb. I immediately noticed the difference and told the surgeon I couldn't do that anymore and that my thumbs are different now. His answer was, "Your thumb (the one I didn't cut" is not normal. I can fix it for you to make it match the surgically repaired one. I guess I'm even more rare now that I have one and one.
0.002 is my number. Those thumbprint patterns were freaking me out a bit ngl. I subscribed because of the skull identification videos, but I'd love to see more content like this.
0.0028% (or 0.003%, whichever you prefer). 1. No tendon. 2. Right thumb on top. 3. Thumb bends back. 4. "Normal" thumb. 5. Loop print. 6. Second toe is longer (but only by a fraction). 7. Earlobes are unattached. 8. No pit. 9. Can't put legs behind head or bend my thumb to my wrist, but I can bend my knee backwards. With the extras in the end: 0.00018% (or 0.0002%). 10. Slight peak. 11. No dimples. 12. Straight hair. 13. Able to roll tongue. 14. Right-handed. 15. No extra lashes.
HEDS and Hypermobility spectrum disorder, the ability be flexible (bending your thumb down to your wrist and so on) is actually quite common. It's just not that well known since most people don't have issues with their flexibility. This specimen has dyscalculia so might have calculated wrong, because 0.0001 seems a bit odd. Yes, I have many of the "rare" traits. Even a few not listed, like folding my tongue.
I don’t think you did your math wrong. It’s possible you’re supposed to be 0.001 not 0.0001, but not necessarily. My score is 0.0022. 5 of my traits were relatively common, though I did have most of the rarer traits, (except the super rare ones) so that can make your score really low comparatively. Especially if you have one of those super rare traits like the ear divot or the short thumb, that would really drop your score down to super rare. Based on your score, this means there are only about 784,600 other people in the entire world that have the same combination of traits as you
As a person with hypermobility, if you have this. Hit the gym daily you will thank me when your are 50+. Very high chance you get rheumatism is you dont.
@0fficialr3d if you have Hypermobility, exercise is good, but only if done correctly. A gym is only efficient if done in a way that doesn't stretch or put pressure on your joints. I've tried many types of exercise like gyms, pilates, yoga, marshal arts. None worked for long. A physiotherapist is the best option for anyone with hypermobility so we don't worsen the instability in out joints. Arthritis is a different condition and not necessary connected to hypermobility. They usually coexist but one is not the cause of the other. HEDS can often mimic arthritis but that's not rheumatism. Exercise is good for your health in general, but people with hypermobility need to be more careful with the movements they do or risk severe injury.
@@SailorYuki couldent agree more. Mostly on the over streching part. When i train i carefully watch my movements and make sure i dont over stretch and over bend (like enkle to butt or something) this makes the muscles thighten up and make you more stiff over time. I was able to russian squad flat on mij feet. Cant do that anymore also cant put my legs in my neck anymore. But yeah if you dont know what youre doing get a trainer that know how to help.
I think putting your leg behind your head is something that can be trained. It's not a can or cannot thing. As your flexibility improves, you become capable of it. I was able to do it and need to regain my flexibility again if I want to do it again.
It's possible to have mismatched traits. I have one attached earlobe, and one unattached earlobe. I have that tendon on one arm, but not on the other arm. My grandmother has one green eye, and one brown eye. Lifeforms are complex and do not always fit easily into tidy little boxes. I grew up on a farm. On time we had a calf that was black and white (typical Holstein coloration), but all of the white areas had long hair and all of the dark areas had short hair. We also have had milk cows that had 5 or 6 teats on their udder instead of the usual 4 teats.
@@octoscorpion2506 Yeah, I have one longer second toe and one longer big toe. So I just went with the rarer of the two for my calculation, since I have both to choose from.
I also have a preauricular pit (which my mom has named my ear dimple). It's incredibly rare. I don't know about other cultures, but only 0.1-0.9% of children born in the USA have it. However, I would like to add that most people who have a preauricular pit only have one. Mine is just over my left ear. Having two is either incredibly incredibly rare or it just doesn't happen.
i have a friend with hyperextension, and likely other issues, but in grade and high school it was extremely funny watching him try to play volleyball, because his elbows didn't lock, and the extra extension made his bumps not go up, but directly into the net.

I was born without two upper incisors so it’s like central incisors and then canines going right after them. And my canines look really sharp too, and it looks like three pairs instead of two. My classmates always told me I look like a shark or something. How rare is that?
Hypodontia, but anyway I got a bud who has that running through their family, so it’s around. My family has a tendency to grow new canines over the baby ones, so I also got called shark teeth
haha, i know what you meant but tbf everyone was born without two upper incisors... and also bottom ones... and also every other teeth (unless of course you are young and meant your milk teeth).

About the thumb thing, I found out recently that my flexibility is apparently a genetic disease Ehlers Danlos or some other Macaroni Maroni. And the flexibility is the bad thing about it xD They don't know much about it but they're studying how it relates to depression, ADHD and autism so...💃
Ehlers danloss is rare, but partly because it’s newer in diagnosis and there’s like 10 specialists in the whole US. I also have the flexibility one (and ADHD and autism, lol). I’ve sprained my ankle 15 times and dislocated my shoulder.
Whoa, I need to write that down! Never heard of it but I have the flexability and ADHD and have dislocated several joints in the past. I will have to look this up thanks for the comment!
You are so right about the flexibility being bad. It's cool when you can do stupid human tricks, but after years of doing them, all those areas begin to hurt. Then you get to splint a lot of things and deal with chronic pain. And that's if your brain works right (which it may not!), and if you don't have autoimmune diseases as a bonus.
Palmaris Longus: yes on both wrists Hand Clasping: right thumb top Extra bent thumb: yes Murderer's thumb: no Thumb Print: loop Foot: first toe longer Earlobe: not sure double jointed in both thumbs aka dislocate and relocate my thumbs without having to manipulate them with the other hand. I’m not sure if this is a rare thing (because none of my friends seem to be able to do it and seem freaked out when I do it) but I have an extremely pointy tongue? My mom affectionately called me “lizard tongue” when I was a baby. It can also extend pretty far out of my mouth. If anyone else experiences this please tell me because I’ve never met anyone else who can!
My mother has a very long tongue and can touch the tip of her nose with it. So can my daughter. when she was born and stuck out her tongue, I was like 'yeah, family genes are present in this one.' I don't know my biological father, so I don't know what of him I inherited, or my kids for that matter.
I also get 2% (0.02), but I can bend my thumb to touch my arm, but can't bring my feet over my head, or bend my ankle. I had to assume that all the 3 traits are equally important in the 20/80% calculation, so I put 50% for that (the aprox result of 0.2^1/3 x 0.8^2/3). BTW I never noticed people earlobe are not attached, kinda surprised me that is the most common trait, mine are attached. But I'm not the most social person so. Well, what can I say, I now know why it's called "ear lobe" 😂 mine is not a lobe at all, just skin from the ear in a straight line to my face.
I am lazy to write down everything but with the additional ones in the end i got 0.00000001871, my extra eyelashes decreased it a lot This means i'm one of only 150 people who have the same traits, that's just... wow 😮

I also had the retained baby teeth thing. I had to have every single baby tooth pulled. They never got loose at all. My brother “fondly” called me Jaws because my adult just came in behind my baby teeth. So I had two rows of teeth. 🦈 Same as you, when I needed to get braces they had to pull the remaining baby teeth. So in one day they pulled 6 teeth. 🦷🦷🦷🦷🦷🦷 it was awful. I still hate the dentist.
1:43 I've always known that I have rare thumb nail, but I didn't realise it is that rare. Also I didn't know it is called a Murderer's Thumb. It now makes a perfect sense that I'm a huge fan of cryminology and criminalistics. 😂😂😂
Me too! I also have a murderer's thumb, and I was surprised to discover how rare it is. I always thought it was, like, 15% of the population or something since both my parents have it (which is kinda crazy in itself) but my brother and my grandparents on both sides don't.
@@denden8372 That's interesting, that both of your parents had it! In my family only my grandma had it, and she had 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 grand-grandchildren. And only I got it. :D
There are many many things that people say to one another “well can you do this SUSAN?” Like licking your elbow, crossing your eyes, wiggling your ears, raising your eyebrows one at a time. These are also things that you may or may not be able to do from birth. I can wiggle my ears, raise one eyebrow at a time, have double jointed thumbs, can cross my eyes, but a lot of other things also depend on flexibility, such as putting your leg over your head.
I have no clue about the math, but most of the things I can do. My prints are a mix of the spiral and the swirly loop. My thumbs go back very far and touch my wrist. I used to be able to put both legs behind my back, I’m fatter now so I’m not going to bother trying lol. I put my right thumb over when crossed. On my right foot my big toe is taller a bit. But on my left foot, they are even. I also can hyperextend my right arm n elbow behind me. I can flare my nostrils which apparently most can’t do as a friend told me recently. And I can pop out my right thumb joint. Both hands’ fingers naturally point back a bit, and when actively doing it, I can make them go back further. I also can do weird things with the blue veins on either side of my under tongue. Every time I see a dentist since I was a kid, I asked if they’ve seen it before. They always say no. I can also fully put my feet ankle to ankle, with the toes facing outward. Kinda like that ballet move, but it makes a straight line. But that one comes from the orphanage where I was just left in my crib. My feet normally walk “like a duck” I’ve been told. So yep. I’m quite a freak. Oh and I have 3 widows peaks. One on the front of my forehead, and one on either side of where my hair meets my ears. I can do the tongue loop. I can also make my tongue do the worm. I’m right handed, but taught myself to use both, so I’m technically ambidextrous. My hair used to be curly but my thyroid butchered that. I can snap both fingers. I can whistle inhaling and exhaling. Can you tell me what my score is? I can’t math but I’m genuinely curious what my score is. I have thick eyelashes, idk if it’s extra though. But I’ve never needed mascara or extensions- not even in my theatre days. And I do have dimples, but not on my face. One kinda went away. But I still got the left dimple. If it adds to rarity, it’s on my butt cheek.

One of my weird traits is that I have one arched fingerprint, and none of my other fingerprints are the arch pattern. I used to have a coworker whose ears didn't match. Which finger is the arch pattern on? There are tendencies for certain patterns to appear on certain fingers (and while it it doesn't have any particular personal meaning, it can be helpful in forensic analysis.) There are some statistical models to make the case for pattern types to be genetically inherited, so you might find it fun to compare patterns with family members.

Ngl that’s cool
Quite cool and rare. I used to do gene sequencing and saw a chimera between a transplant patient and their bone marrow donor.
Nah, you didn’t absorb your twin. You ate him/her.
Wow, you got everyone beat! I'm just an average kinda gal😁
I love that I now I have a name for my short pinkies!
I have type A1. Also known as Stubbyitus.
Type D here and if I don't come up with anything else I've used it as an ice breaker
My dad has the thumb. Never heard of it again before this video.
The joint hyper mobility score is indicative of being neurodivergent, as most neurodivergent people have hyper mobility in various parts of the body
Other odd traits can be indicative of sex as well.
@@artsy_dragon_creations And how many of those people are you likely to meet in your lifetime? 1 or 2 in passing at most probably.
@@drachna what’s your point exactly?
@@drachna not the idea🤦♂️

How were you duped into keeping your legs hairless if they never grew hair?
I don't grow hair on my legs either. An inherited trait from my mom.

Palmaris Longus: yes on both wrists

double jointed in both thumbs aka dislocate and relocate my thumbs without having to manipulate them with the other hand.
I also have green eyes
and can wiggle my ears
I used to be double joined in my shoulders, but that went away at a certain point in grade school.
I have that too. I got called devil tongue if I stick it all the way out
Gene Simmons from the 70s band Kiss seems to have the same trait. He was always sticking out his tongue on stage to look scary or tough or something.
Don't have that but I can create a clover with my tongue 🍀 (3 not 4)
My mother has a very long tongue and can touch the tip of her nose with it. So can my daughter. when she was born and stuck out her tongue, I was like 'yeah, family genes are present in this one.' I don't know my biological father, so I don't know what of him I inherited, or my kids for that matter.
@@weebunny I mean if you could make millions of dollars sticking your tongue out, wouldn't you?
2:56 ok but what do I do if only one of my feet has a longer 2nd toe than big toe but the other doesn't?
This brought me to tears. Thank you.
I am lazy to write down everything but with the additional ones in the end i got 0.00000001871, my extra eyelashes decreased it a lot
This means i'm one of only 150 people who have the same traits, that's just... wow 😮
Extra eyelashes?! Please upload a quick video showing it, I've never heard of that.
I do have the hitch hiker thumb. Always thought it was neat that it was super common.

I'm going to add two things about my teeth cause they're weird. I had to be put under to get some of my baby teeth surgically removed in order to get braces, those suckers did not want to come out. Plus I had an extra tooth, it was very pointy right inbetween my incisors.
supernumerary teeth: one extra (I had it removed) 3.8%
retained baby teeth: quite a few and I'm well into adulthood 25% (I think)
1.49605611e-9 I think
I am rare as 3.9% rounded off which is 4%! How shocking! ❤
Your number is soo big! You must have twins around the world. My rarity is 0,005880809088 what a number XD

@@Dynamight_01 I meant, who cares that they're not "rare" according to this video. Everyone is unique, regardless of their genetic rarity
My husband has those preauricualar pits by his ears. I had no idea they were so rare!
1:51 When the thumb is sus 🥵
There are many many things that people say to one another “well can you do this SUSAN?” Like licking your elbow, crossing your eyes, wiggling your ears, raising your eyebrows one at a time. These are also things that you may or may not be able to do from birth. I can wiggle my ears, raise one eyebrow at a time, have double jointed thumbs, can cross my eyes, but a lot of other things also depend on flexibility, such as putting your leg over your head.
I got ~0,0072 so 0,72%.
My rarest trait was the attached earlobe.

I'm this rare! 0.00403292 😭 what's this mean?? ( 4:32 )
Can we agree that his voice , tone would be amazing to listen to on audio books! ❤

I can turn my tongue right over laterally. I can wiggle my ears and my scalp. My ear canals bend in different directions (very unusual, I'm told). I can put my palms flat on the floor when I touch my toes. The ear/hair wiggling and the finger thing make great party tricks!
Very cool, I can make a clover with my tongue and flip it too, I do all kinds of finger tricks like bending the first joint too or turning my thumb around, I can kind of on command snake spit also, my ears have a different shape on the inside too

I have three earlobes, two detached earlobes and one attached. My right ear has two earlobes, one attached and one detached. It’s a little confused on who it’s wanted to be so it decided, why not be both.
1:59 How rare is it to have both? one type in each hand
0.29%. I'm male, right-handed, with brown eyes - full head of hair, brown with reddish highlights before it all turned white - short (5'6", less now as I age) - "tongue-tied" (cannot touch the roof of my mouth with my tongue when my mouth is opened as wide as it goes) - introverted, good with math & language. A rare specimen, indeed....
A piece of advice.

One of my weird traits is that I have one arched fingerprint, and none of my other fingerprints are the arch pattern. I used to have a coworker whose ears didn't match. One didn't fold back over at the top like a cat's ear. He said one of his ear's is like his father, and the other is like his mother. He's Italian on his fathers side and Latino on his mother's side.
