Cheer's William, as you rightly say a work of art, its one of those coaches that every model railway enthusiast will have on there layout. cheer's Tony
Hi Onno, there are 121 components and 50 off them are inside the coach, well detailed and this coach should get an Oscar if there is such a thing in the model railway world....best wishes Tony
Great new addition there. They have certainly done a cracking job on making the coach. I remember when I visited shop when they first had a sample in, it looked great then and looks more impressive now its the real deal.... Andy
Hi Andy. interesting comment about witnessing the sample model. I wonder where that one is now, it is impressive Model. the survey work on the original at York must have taken weeks, photographing and measuring all the components to get every detail spot on. I would love that job....have a great weekend ...Tony
That's quite something Tony and I'm talking about the whole train! 6 top flight coaches a beautiful fully functional loco and the highly detailed car, well what can one say? Stunning. I believe the wand is to turn the lights on and off. Thanks for showing it off. Cheers Jerry
hi Jerry Buddy. this Trian will stay together as a whole Trian. except for that day when a Blue Mallard arrives. maybe next year....need to put in some overtime at work, lol. your right about the wand. I was having one of those moments when some the instructions got missed, as I was only interested in reading the history about the coach. which was fascinating in itself. thank you for taking the time to comment as always cheer's Tony
Hi Glynn. the Dynamometer car is made by Rapido models. you are right to say its not a hornby model. the quality of this model is superb, i think rails have still got some left. it would great behind a blue garter mallard..................for the speed record....best wishes Tony
Duncan Merchant Cheers Duncan when they said that they were going to release I knew I had to have one. The detail is the best I have seen on any model. It's a bit pricey. But worth it I think. Have a great weekend. Tony
A beautiful model. The plastic wand with the magnet is used for turning on/off interior lighting. Hold over roof as there is a latching reed switch inside. So one side of the magnet turns them on and the other side turns the lights off. The incredibly high standard of model certainly reflects the price. As you said, well worth it. Enjoy.
Thank you John, I found out a little bit late about the wound, this is what happens when i don't read the instructions properly. that's me to a T. thanks again Tony
Thank you Richard, im already saving up for the one piece that's missing. The Blue Streak...coming soon 2019....thanks again for taking time out to comment cheer's Tony
Hi Fred it well detailed and very sturdy, the first loco it worked on was a R class locomotive No2109. yes it would fit in lovely with the Mallard pulling it...catch up soon buddy ….Tony
Thankyou everyone who pointed out what the wand is actually for, as usual I went straight fir the jugular with out paying attention to the instructions. until after filming the video. thanks again guys for commenting and for putting me right. very much appreciated.. happy modeling
Now really getting excited about getting mine which is the later one due in this coming week I think. Thanks for showing us Tony you have a really nice layout there, well filmed too, Stewart from downunder
Hi Stewart, I hope you don't have to wait to long for yours, and it will go great with your new addition NSWR loco. thank you for popping in regards Tony
hello Simon, thanks for commenting. as always its good to hear from you. definitely worth the wait. its one of the biggest spends of the year, but don't tell the misses. lol.....all the best Tony
A very nice coach , but i bit too pricey for me. This is the first time i have had a look at your layout and I must is is amazing. I would like to know how you painted the station canopy. I guess it is a hornby one? I want to do the same. I do not have an Airbrush, but I do know someone who has. Martin (Thailand)
Hi Martin, Thank you for taking the time to comment, the paint work on the canopy was done with a brush before assembling the canopy, same with the uprights all painted before assembly and just touching up the paint once it was all glued together. I have a air brush, but I have never used it, all the best Tony
Hi Ben, funny your comment being the first one to read after sitting down with a coffee and reading the instructions fully. im one of those typical DIY guys who always put things together without reading the instructions, and it works it does turn the lights off. thank you for taking the time to comment. cheer's Tony
Hi Tony This is a well made video I love the history bite The real coach is beautiful I got few picture of it at York. The coach is a little pricey So I picked rapido j70 it the same price. Love the frosted glass to Well done on 2k Keep safe ARP
Hi Adi, yes your right they are a bit pricey. its was paid for in two stages, a deposit and a final payment, never heard of Rapido until now. they make good models. The History is very in depth. I only touch on a few bits....have a great weekend regards Tony
I think I might be alone in my opinion but making the centre section a separate moulding and an obvious join where there shouldn’t be one spoils the whole look of the coach, especially when paying £125 for it
It's a stunning model alright but I might question some of the underframe fittings, such as the suspension of the battery boxes and odd position of the dynamo. The livery puzzles me too, notably the widespread application of what looks like claret. Can anybody explain that? And the absence of lining, which the LNER applied. After WWII when it was given a BR number, the simulated teak finish was retained but the lining was dropped (I have seen a clear picture of this condition in 1950, possibly returning from the SR and use with the Bulleids...).
thank you for taking the time to comment, I have looked at the National Railway Museum Website and searched through the photos of NER Dynometer car and there is no lining as say on the car just the lettering. as for the dynamo that is lowered onto the track when they need to take the speed measurements I guess. but I do like a comment that makes me think and do a little research. thank you again best wishes Tony
The claret you mention is in fact teak the same as what is applied to Gresley teak under frames. I have one of these in this guise and the video does not do it justice. The dynamometer car was never lined in LNER imitation teak livery so this is quite correct.
Nige Johnson thank you for commenting. You are correct with your views on your previous comment. The detail is a carbon copy of the original that sits in the museum. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony It trouble again. That coach looks real on your layout compare too if it was on mine. Sorry to bother you Keep safe ARP Ps 4 time of watching it and I see something new everytime
Hi Trouble. its no trouble Adi contacting me, buddy. let me tell you something, the carriage would grace any layout my friend. Yours skills lay elsewhere. I don't think I would have the patience to do what you do, you are a very dedicated person when it comes to Railway topics and history in general. and that is why I admire what you do. you have watching the video 4 times, you must know more about the carriage than me now. take care. very best wishes Tony...…..
Hi, I do appreciate your comment, luckily the cost was spread over the year with a down payment and then a balance at the end, but yes its pricey. but you can not take your money with you. plus it will only go up in value if looked after....thank you again all the best Tony
its not a 'diameter' car ... it is a dynamometer car - if you say the words ...... Diner Mom Eater and practice you'll get it right and it may help your spelling too. Sorry to correct you but please take this advice in the spirit it is intended, and you may well have worked it out over the last 4 years anyway. Dynamo-Meter would be the other way to break down the syllables and true to the meaning of the word as well, I suspect that is how they invented it.
No problem, i am thick skinned, some people would throw a hissy fit at your comment. but not my friend. what's done is done, its not worth taking the video down for it, Anyway it just sits on the layout doing nothing, so maybe i could turn into an American Dinner after all....thanks again cheer's Tony
One beautiful coach. A work of art Well worth the present price.
Cheer's William, as you rightly say a work of art, its one of those coaches that every model railway enthusiast will have on there layout. cheer's Tony

Nice video and nice dynamometer car. Good to see realistic shunts and acceleration rather than the great hand depending from the sky.
Good morning John. the dynamometer car is a bit pricy. but the detail is so realistic..thanks again for commenting ........cheer's Tony
Just watched this again, loverly coach, looks like a Clerestory coach, but not Hornby! great back tracking now and again. Glynn
Hi Glynn. the Dynamometer car is made by Rapido models. you are right to say its not a hornby model. the quality of this model is superb, i think rails have still got some left. it would great behind a blue garter mallard..................for the speed record....best wishes Tony
That is just lovely Tony. Detail is fantastic.
All the best Duncan.
Duncan Merchant Cheers Duncan when they said that they were going to release I knew I had to have one. The detail is the best I have seen on any model. It's a bit pricey. But worth it I think. Have a great weekend. Tony
Fantastic new addition
Hi Mike, it fits in nicely with the Bachmann teaks, thanks for commenting regards Tony.

Now that's a real collectors model coach , nice to see it running on the layout Tony .
.........Peter
Hi Peter, yes it would be criminal to leave in a box stuck on a shelve. thanks for commenting have a great weekend best wishes Tony
Terrific video, well put together. Nice addition to those Bachmann teaks.
Thank you Richard, im already saving up for the one piece that's missing. The Blue Streak...coming soon 2019....thanks again for taking time out to comment cheer's Tony
Great looking coach Tony, it works perfectly with the teak's, take care...Mal
thank you Mal, yes it was the perfect excuse to go back into the loft, it came at the right time. cheer's buddy regards Tony
Beautiful coach Tony, I'm looking forward to mine arriving.. should be any day now hopefully.
well you wont be disappointed, like you say its a beautiful coach, and well worth the money I think....cheer's Tony
A very nice addition Tony , they have made a nice job of that ...
Hi Dave, looks great with the other teaks. the detail is fabulous mate. these will fly of the shelve....take care Tony
Beautiful piece of kit ....I think that needs to run behind my old ancient Hornby ‘Mallard’ .......regards Fred ps as you say well worth the wait !
Hi Fred it well detailed and very sturdy, the first loco it worked on was a R class locomotive No2109. yes it would fit in lovely with the Mallard pulling it...catch up soon buddy ….Tony

You’ll have to bring along for a record run 😉👌
now that's a offer I can not refuse, does that come with coffee and biscuits lol. cheer's Tony
The wand thing, is used to turn on and off the lights, I think by hovering over the coach
Ben Woffenden Yes, Ben’s right. The wand controls a reed switch in the centre of roof for the interior lights ☺️
Hi Ben, funny your comment being the first one to read after sitting down with a coffee and reading the instructions fully. im one of those typical DIY guys who always put things together without reading the instructions, and it works it does turn the lights off. thank you for taking the time to comment. cheer's Tony
TONY NORTH EASTERN no problem, I think its a good feature from rapido/rails
