Me too! It's the sort of thing Pitley Steam Railway can get away with doing because (being a fictional heritage railway) it doesn't have to worry about things being commercially viable. I suspect for real heritage railways it would be a very different story 😅 Merry Christmas to you too and thanks for watching 🎅
That's a really great layout - not just because you now have a combination of lots of experience of actual model building, but also plenty of inventiveness; but also because of what's not there - the cluttered look caused by putting way too much on the boards so every feature has enough room. I also notice you have one of the national embarrassment peco water towers, with the delivery pipe going up in a loop which means it would only be possible to draw water from the top third of the tank, unless you manage a vacuum in the flexible pipe; but we will all let you off because those walls are so good, and that under bridge is a great example of proper layout planning and perfect execution. Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year ( to everyone reading I suppose I should say )
If you have a look back through the build series of this layout I did make a big thing of taking a "less is more" approach so it's nice that you've noticed that. Yeah the water tower is interesting to say the least. I'm not concerned by it though as it gives off the general impression and model railways are all about compromise. If you look around the layout there are plenty of other things which are technically wrong or impractical but all together they help build up the scene of a working railway. Merry Christmas to you too and thanks for watching 🎅
Something I saw someone do, and might be able to expand the layout, scenic up parts of the Fiddle Yard, could have a Horsted Keynes like station, with plenty of sidings
I do have an idea for a scenic fiddle yard setup which would look more like a loco shed and carriage sidings on either side of the running line. The issue is then is that I have no where to hide the trains off scene when they leave the station which is obviously quite useful for videos like these. Thanks for watching 🎅
Fantastic video, it's great to see pitley again and for a proper running session, I do enjoy running sessions, especially for events always great to see, merry Christmas 😀
It was great to finally be able to run the layout again. I had such a good time putting this running session together, trying to do it in a realistic way was interesting too. Thanks or watching and Merry Christmas 🎅
A terrific running session and such a great idea to have a theme and story to the action. Pitley looking wonderful too. and a great choice of locomotives
Really glad to hear that. I did try to convey what was happening rather than just have trains running about randomly but didn't want to overdo it 😅 Merry Christmas and thanks for watching 🎅
Glad you enjoyed it Tim! Yeah having the 47 on standby definitely adding some extra fun to the situation. I suspect there will be a lot more diesel action on the layout next year too! Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas 🎅
It was an enjoyable running session, a great Christmas theme. Have you seen the Dylington Christmas Special? My grandson has done. Merry Christmas 🎅 cheers, James 🎄 🙂👍
There is definitely something relaxing about just watching the trains shuffle about. Great to have on in the background I think. Merry Christmas to you too and thanks for watching 🎅
Glad you enjoyed it! There's unlikely to be any more modules for the layout though as I've maxed out the available space... unless Santa wants to bring me a bigger house for Christmas 😅 Thanks for watching 🎅
This is such a nice running section and I especially love the joke with the bah humbug express 😂. Where did you get the headboards for the 9F and Hunslet, they look really neat and add so much detail!
Glad you enjoyed it, I like the idea of the Bah Humbug Express too! The headboards are all from Fox Transfers - they've got a really good range on their website and are easy to fit to your locos using some tacky wax. Merry Christmas and thanks for watching 🎅
Don't worry 828 gets plenty of action on the layout. It's one of my best runners and considering I've done plenty of turns with the real engine too it's safe to say it's a favourite to run. Thanks for watching 🎅
That's interesting idea! I'd have to see if there was some ways I could subtly alter the layout to add some wartime theming similar to what the real railways do. Thanks for watching 🎅
Love the concept of the Bah Humbug Express ! Good running session . Merry Christmas !

Wonderful video, Joe. 👍😀👍
A Day in the life of the volunteers at Pitley Steam Railway.
They're certainly kept busy with all these trains coming and going! Thanks for watching 🎅

Thanks Nigel, it was certainly good fun to come up with a timetable for a full day and then run the entire sequence on camera! Thanks for watching 🎅
Lovely bit of story telling, i was totally engrossed!
Really glad to hear that. I did try to convey what was happening rather than just have trains running about randomly but didn't want to overdo it 😅 Merry Christmas and thanks for watching 🎅
Excellent running session. Nice to see the Bachmann Class 47 out rescuing the situation. Tim

loved it, though i would've liked to have seen the 812 in action more, still a great vid

Great video, for the 8th May how about doing a 40s event like most heritage lines do
That's interesting idea! I'd have to see if there was some ways I could subtly alter the layout to add some wartime theming similar to what the real railways do. Thanks for watching 🎅
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy most have a few military vehicles parked up on display some reenactors dressed up in 40s gear
Can you do more running sessions on this layout
Edit: maybe you could do like a diesel gala or
Steam gala
I'd definitely like to do both of those in the future, I think there's a lot of potential for fun. Thanks for watching 🎅
@ThatModelRailwayGuy I would love to see some galaa
