People definitely did criticised them - however I don't think this was a clap back. BTS has always been very Korean in their music and I think they're above knee-jerk reactions to prove themselves when it's unnecessary. This more cultural version of IDOL is just a natural progression of their sound in regards to their status as ambassadors of. S.Korea and their 'global-ness' in regards to the LOVE YOURSELF message. If it also proved their haters wrong, then that's just a bonus but it was never the main point of showing their culture. They showed Korean culture for that sake of showing Korean culture.
if you go to a bts concert, whoever your bias is, you'll leave with Jhope either being your bias or bias wrecker cause he is SO charismatic. A total performer. He owns the whatever stage he's on. Even when it's not him singing/rapping, he makes these adlibs that really hype up the crowd and you can tell that he really LOVES performing.
It's amazing that Dizz pointed it out. J-Hope's performance skills are really on another level, and you won't realize it until you see them performing live. His charisma is on a whole new level. Glad that it was pointed out💜💜

As someone who followed their tours all around the world. I must say, Jimin stood out to me the most. He is a stage GOD, there's no other way to describe it. Everything he does is art. I will never forget the moment when someone not far from where I was screamed "Jimin is God". I don't blame her, Jimin was just standing right in front of us and my goodness he just exudes sooo sooo much power and charm. He is not cute at all, in fact he is intimidatingly, devastatingly handsome. And he's the most graceful and versatile..
I love this performance so much. I think we all agree its the best perfo of Idol.. 3 J's dance at the beginning was amazing😍 jimin even got awarded later on for his fan dance / anyways i love this because they seemed extra confident and powerful here aaahh they're amazing on stage
I think in general J-hope is the best on stage. He has so much swag and charisma and it shows everytime. He legit owns the stage! I always thought that but I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed!
Samgomu (three drum dance). Pungmul (village dance). Buchaechum (fan dance). Sajanoreum (lion dance). I mean, I grew up with that stuff, and it's so awesome to see centuries-old Korean traditions in such a modern context. And BTS are not alone: For instance, Mamamoo performed with a Pansori (traditional Korean opera) singer on Immortal Song. Shoutout to today's kids for representing Korean culture. Also, you can see how synchronised/acrobatic dancing and drum rhythms have been a part of Korean culture for AGES, which is probably why we're so good at it today.
This Idol MMA performance was summed-up perfectly by Monroe, "Super Iconic"! Just like Zak said, this was a homage to the Korean culture & heritage! It made lots of non-Koreans fascinated by and intrigued about Korean culture! Khadija and Dizz were spot on about the mis-directed part of the camera.. if not this production on camera would've been perfect! I don't know why I cried watching.. but I was kinda proud you guys reacted to this incredible and spectacular BTS performance!!
I'm going on May 11th in Chicago. It'll be extra fun... I'm meeting up with a group of other MOM ARMYs. We're doing Karaoke after the concert and other fun stuff. 💜♾
Hoseok is THE performer. Many people are surprised watching him live, because in MVs he doesn't stand out that much, his screen time is usually one of the least and he's rarely in the center . But live is entire different matter, he has huge charisma, confidence and outstanding dancing skills- awesome in choreo but also when free styling. Plus he can rap and sing and he's incredible stable live.
Zai bo I took my non fan cousin to the love yourself tour in Seoul movie and she said that Hobi was the one who caught her attention and she kept complementing him. Hobi's aura and charisma on stage is unreal he's such a good performer honestly
The way you do pay attention to details and appreciate the hard effort BTS and their team put into their performances, you're amazing. I also know you're big fans of "Blood, Sweat & Tears" so you should definitely react to their "2016 MAMA" live performance. To me, that one's just on a whole new level. Love u guys. Send u lots of love from Peru. 💜
Just to mention about beginning, those blue and red flame presents Ying and Yang twirling Universe which is center symbol of Korean national flag. If you want to know detail, please check "MMA Idol explained"
in general its homage to their heritage. EVERY LIVE PERFORMANCE THEY PERFORM has always had a mixed version play in order to match the performance. in this case it had to be better than idol and the whole thing was
i recently saw them live and i get to see them again soon and i must say their live performances are INSANE like after seeing them i gained a whole new respect for them as artist. it's very very clear these boys care about their music and their performance and their fans and after getting to experience that they really have become my favorite artist
This is by far my favorite performance of time. I love all their stuff but this. To see that they are so PROUD of their country and culture. You never see artists celebrating their culture very much these days. But BTS has always been loud and proud of where they come from. I’m just so proud of them. So so so proud of them.
Did you all know? that stage are the most legend performance on the history of MMA... That version of IDOL was the most requested by ARMY. They really love their haters, even BTS make a special songs for them like Cypher series and Mic Drop and they do what the haters have been criticized. BTS was getting criticized for their music was being westernized and they have a Comeback with a song that showing off Korean culture, Korean traditional instrument, and Korean traditional clothes named Hanbok. Why do people always hate them? why they hate someone who looks like an angels. BTS has even save some people life. BTS had help some people who was struggling with their own problem, Even though that BTS who need help for real. BTS are seven angels who live in Earth
Holy shit, I did NOT expect you guys to react to the live performance of IDOL mma 2018! What an absolute pleasant surprise, love you reaction! And yes, the track is a bit different in this performance! I think they made the track sound similar to the IDOL teaser, rather than the original song (which have two completely different sounds lol). And I agree it was a shame about the slight technical hiccup in the beginning sequence :/ It would've been so satisfying to see the jk's part fit together with the beginning, but oh well. Anyways, love your guys' reaction!! A bit unrelated btw, but Monroe's hair colour is so pretty like wow!!
I absolutely loved this performance. It’s one of their best performances in my opinion. The music is difference because they used traditional instruments to create the Idol instrumental. I love how they broadcasted their culture to not only people of the same culture but also to the rest of the world. It was also beautiful seeing them wearing traditionally inspired clothing and doing traditional dances, some of which were more “feminine”. This was amazing. They really outdid themselves. Hearing the original song Idol, I never felt it was westernized because the instrumental to Idol is actually a South African trap beat mixed in with Korean instruments so I’m not sure what was “western” about that lmao. People are just haters.
The point of Idol is to show that they're everything. They do what they do, they're Korean, they're Asian, they're artists, they're idols, they do everything. The fact is that a lot of people wanted them to do more songs in English, and stuffs like that. They'll always be who they are and they are proud of their heritage! All the video and performance is typical Korean dance, and instruments as well. Thanks for reacting!! And ps: Mamamoo at MAMA 2018 it's epic as well
Few things I noticed from the performance: 1. The opening where the red blue white pops up signifies the Korean flag . 2. The song is different because they used Korean instruments in fact because of being westernized. 3. ALL the back up scenerios ( jhope, jimin, jungkook) are traditional things in Korea 4. Jimin shut everyone up because he's always called the more feminine one out of the group ( idol MV ) he has the fan too ; he's telling them just because I'm a guy doesn't mean i can't wear makeup and plus the fan is used more by girls he's like nope I guy can too. And heck he made it loook hella sexy!
React to BTS - Spring Day BTS - The Truth Untold TXT - Crown (They are same agency of BTS ! ) / New boygrup of Bighit Entertainment. PLEASE I REALLY WAITING IN HERE. HUHU HUHU HUHU :'( :'( :'(
Thank you for highlighting their performance quality. It's a bigger factor in their global fame than I believe people realize. BTS' level of showmanship is not a given with artists anymore. Even when the song isn't your taste, they still make you feel something. I can't say enough about that.
I feel like ya'll would reeeeaally love BTS' b-side tracks. Especially some of the older soulful ones. A couple good ones you might like are: Autumn Leaves (also known as Dead Leaves in some translations), Paradise, Pied Piper, and House of Cards. I know you guys preferably like to watch music videos, but I think it'd be really cool if maybe you started reacting to some lyric vids too since you're missing out on sooo many good songs. Best song to start with out of the four would be Dead leaves imo since I'm biased and it's my favorite BTS song lmao. Hope you guys are having a lovely day wherever you are, *all around the world~* lol.
I will NEVER forgive the cameraman for that misstep. The boys were on cue every step of the way and he droPPED. The. Ball. Ugh. Still legendary. The full thing was 20 minutes long & they performed Fake Love live before this so I love that they kept that energy all the way through. Also! I love that you called out j-hopes charisma!! That's one thing I've noticed from concert reviews & live shows & performances is that he just stands out. They are all powerful on stage but he constantly comes out of left field and surprises the crowd. That boy was made for the stage. His ad libs, his freestyle dance moves, just his aura. It's undeniable. I recommend watching the Anpanman performance at MAMA Japan!! It's one of their more 'casual' stages. Like they really are just having fun and owning the stage and he kills it there too. Also love that they redid the choreo to play to a circular stage. They think of everything. Legends.
Monroe was some what right, the song idol as a whole was made to rebuttal the haters saying that they are westerned. that's why they wore traditional korean clothes in this preformance and mv
I've been fortunate enough to see the boys twice in my life, and your description of them, ESPECIALLY J-hope, is on point. I cannot tell you how strong they are on stage, and J-hope specifically has a kind of presence that absolutely demands your attention. His charisma and the way he owns any performance he gives absolutely takes my breath away every single time.
Its still so funny to me that Kpop fans love calling bts “westernized” when they’re one of the few groups who refuses to release songs fully in English, implement Asian/Korean instruments in their songs (ie Ddaeng), and promote KOREA beyond music.. even bringing in over 4B won to the countries economy - they also performed for free at the presidents request during an international visit to France.. not to mention all the charity work they’ve done in their own hometowns. Bts are far from being the sellouts ppl criticize them of being, if anything.. they’ve brought Korea and its music to the masses and changed the western mindset for what we look for in music. True role models.
The change of music is just for this presentation to be in line with the intro as making homage to their roots, but on their other performances its just the old ones
This was actually the third song they performed at this Melon awards show. They also performed Fake Love and Airplane pt 2. If you haven't seen the Fake Love performance at this same award show, you should definitely watch/react to it cuz it's amazing!
I get goosebumps whenever I see this performance. It’s not just the traditional sound they used, it’s also all the Korean traditional performances they brought in - starting with J-Hope’s drum dance (“sogo”), Jimin’s fan dance (“buchae-choom”), JK’s mask dance (“tal-choom”), and the lion dance (“Buk-cheong Saja-choom”). Did you know BTS’s original dance choreography is also based on these traditional moves? Their lyric contains these as well. These little cultural nuances :)
Every once in a while I watch this reaction. It's always so much fun to watch. This whole performance (fake love + airplane pt 2 + idol) was around 240k usd.
Yep girl u r right thsy were getting criticized but thats why idol has so many korean references but u guys should wstch the first half of this called wbo are you because they actually did 3 other songs b4 this they did love yourself( just dancing) then fake love and then airplane pt 2 with a vcr in between fake love was epically good so dramatic
What was amazing about this performance it seemed to bring every fandom together bc of the cultural APPRECIATION. The whole place was coming down. Or it sounds like it. I agree with the NKOTB connection. I was *ahem* around for that as well (stan Joey!!!) and the feeling I get when I watch them is the same. With other groups too tho. I love singing and choreography so this resurgence of multiple member groups idk it’s just amazing. Speaking of, having you guys done Seventeen’s Getting Closer? Or Flower(dance practice) both VERY GOOD. And Stray Kids new one Miroh is a BANGER!!! For real, they actually just got their first win and badass rapper Jisung cried, sobbed. It was precious.
You noticed that the music was different, it was. They chose to use traditional Korean instruments for the performance. You REALLY need to react to Fake Love that they performed at the beginning of this 20 MINUTE performance (Idol was the last of 3 songsj) at the 2018 MMAs. The beginning is just as epic as this . I really appreciate all of your observations. From the missed cue with Jungkook, to their awareness of the cameras (thanks BBMAs for the worst camera work EVER). The reference to them being too "westernized" really comes from fanbases of rival Kpop groups. I don't believe I've read anywhere that any critic, music writer or the like has ever made that statement. Again, really enjoy your reactions.
"Dong ki duk kung do do duk~" is a basic rhythm using in traditional korean narrative song. Many korean peoples are know that rhythm and they thought that this song is looks like in olympic game opening stage. I hope you have enjoyed this collaboration show. I like this clip too. Happy new year♥. Beautiful MonRoe~~
The music was live too! The traditional korean instruments were played live with BTS live singing/rapping😆 that was the most epic performance I've EVER watched
Thank you soooo much for this reaction! ❤️❤️❤️ You guys should check out the Monsta X MAMA Japan 2017 and 2018 performances too! Lots of love from Brazil! ;)
This was the last song of the 20-minute intro to the MMA show. You should watch the whole thing, it is epic. Not to react to it, just to see the whole performance. They were honored for sharing traditional Korean culture and that is why they performed Idol in this way. Seeing this live would be incredible. Even though they are as famous as they are, they are still humble. They don't rest on their laurels. When they are interviewed they still say they will work harder and they hope that people will like their project. Amazing.
The song was a big mashup of traditional Korean styles (the music and clothing) with a blend of designs and dances from multiple cultures as a homage to their home and the various homes of the fans

The crazy part is, when Kpop originally sprung up in like the 90s, it developed out of western influences.
Tori Haley very true! I think this generation of KPOP has sorta strayed from that and put their own twist on KPOP

He is not cute at all, in fact he is intimidatingly, devastatingly handsome. And he's the most graceful and versatile..
Jimin is just mesmerizing
2:15 literally me any time Jimin does anything.
I can not be the only one who was waiting this ENTIRE video to see Monroe’s reaction to Jimin’s part at 6:57, am I? She’s so cute ❤️❤️
Monroe screaming at Jimin's turn ISSA MOOD

Fernanda Chimenes yesssssssssssssss yesssssssssssssss yesssssssssssssss
I'm still laughing at her reaction to Jimins smirk at 6:57
The song & video itself shows off Korean culture the version they performed to is the instrumental version from the teaser.
Jimin is so talented and beautiful.
I love this performance so much. I think we all agree its the best perfo of Idol.. 3 J's dance at the beginning was amazing😍 jimin even got awarded later on for his fan dance / anyways i love this because they seemed extra confident and powerful here aaahh they're amazing on stage
"I would pay money to be the man inside of that thing"
Same Zak. Same 😂
MMA is always a great event to watch💓
This is not mama lol. It's MMA melon music awards
@@bishaldatta7455 i know- i just realized that i wrote mama instead of mma
Monroe's squeal when she saw Jimin is a whole mood
They are indeed legends... please react to BTS Persona comeback trailer you gonna love it
I think in general J-hope is the best on stage.
Jimin actually recieved an awards for his amazing traditional fan dance dance from this performance.
I really love Monroe's face when she looks at Jiminie 💕😆.
Same Monroe ... Same .... 😂😍.
I'm taking my daughter to see them in New Jersey May 19th!! I'm as excited as she is!! Stadium capacity of over 82,000. Its going to be EPIC!!
I'm going on May 11th in Chicago. It'll be extra fun... I'm meeting up with a group of other MOM ARMYs. We're doing Karaoke after the concert and other fun stuff. 💜♾
@@MTetzke that sounds like a lot of fun!! Lol
Im going that day too OMG Have fun
I’m going to be there too 🤗🤗🤗
On May 11th?
Jimin? IKR?! So seductive all the time. I love your reaction! Thank you! Please react to more live performance of BTS.
It’s interesting that you mention J Hope, because everybody says if you go to a BTS concert, you’ll leave with J Hope as your bias 😂
omgg thats so true!!
Plus he can rap and sing and he's incredible stable live.
bapsae says it all
Zai bo I took my non fan cousin to the love yourself tour in Seoul movie and she said that Hobi was the one who caught her attention and she kept complementing him. Hobi's aura and charisma on stage is unreal he's such a good performer honestly
Diyxlx it’s so true! I’m taking my friend to speak yourself tour and I know she’s gonna fall in love with hobi 😭

This performance is honestly of their most iconic ones. The beginning is just. Wow. This is what I call next level
Yess finally. I wanted this so bad! Thanks for reacting to this.
Monroe looks so beautiful. I wanna marry you. ♥️
Just to mention about beginning, those blue and red flame presents Ying and Yang twirling Universe which is center symbol of Korean national flag. If you want to know detail, please check "MMA Idol explained"
You guys have to do their Fake Love performance that they did before Idol too. Their 2018 MMA performance from beginning to end was phenomenal.
You guys should react to mama fake love and mma japan live performance. I would love it if you reacted to it.
You. Will. LOVE. It!😲💜♾
Jhope literally has that charisma on stage. I confirmed that. I was seeing him at the concert twice and Jhope always catched everyone's attention.
in general its homage to their heritage.
The whole performance was amazing you should've reacted to all of it. And btw I love how you match your clothes 💜✌️
This is by far my favorite performance of time. I love all their stuff but this. To see that they are so PROUD of their country and culture. You never see artists celebrating their culture very much these days. But BTS has always been loud and proud of where they come from. I’m just so proud of them. So so so proud of them.
Yayy thanks for reacting to the idol part but can they please also react to the beginning of the performance (the FAKE LOVE part) 💜
I always get excited when I get a notification from you guys I love the intro song have me singing it out loud !!😩😩😩😩💜💜💜💜
SAME!💜♾
Lol i see u almost everywhere
I was so sooooo glad that you appreciate Jhope in this performance. His presence is really no joke 👌👍
Omg, i was in class, and asked to be excused to the bathroom to watch this😭😂. I loved the fact you guys reacted to this! 💛
And ps: Mamamoo at MAMA 2018 it's epic as well
I really love monroe reaction. Agreed with ur opinion monroe, btw i love ur voice also. Please react more live reaction By BTS💜
Few things I noticed from the performance:
1. The opening where the red blue white pops up signifies the Korean flag .
2. The song is different because they used Korean instruments in fact because of being westernized.
3. ALL the back up scenerios ( jhope, jimin, jungkook) are traditional things in Korea

All the mini performances by each member in the intro are Korean intangible cultural assets. So proud of Korea!
Yessss i never pressed so fast to start a video.😍😍😍
My man jimin kills us all over again!😣😍😘💘
How can a person be so perfect ?!❤❤❤
Thank you for highlighting their performance quality. It's a bigger factor in their global fame than I believe people realize. BTS' level of showmanship is not a given with artists anymore. Even when the song isn't your taste, they still make you feel something. I can't say enough about that.
love the gasps everytime it was jimin's time !!! exactly how i feel everytime too XD
Y’all gotta see them perform boys meet evil/blood sweat & tears/fire performance from MAMA 2016....epic. One of their top award show performances.
Jenna Kochanski yea and the truth untold because it’s vocal based. Plus their lyrics are amazing
I've never clicked so fast!! Btw I love the new intro! You guys are really talented💜
This is the only! Intro I'am living for!!❤️keep up u are the best love ur reaction
The change of music is just for this presentation to be in line with the intro as making homage to their roots, but on their other performances its just the old ones
react BTS the truth untold please 💜😊
Up!💜♾
Saja Raji yesssss
Saja Raji Pleeasseee!
Yesss
plzzz제발!!
This was actually the third song they performed at this Melon awards show. They also performed Fake Love and Airplane pt 2. If you haven't seen the Fake Love performance at this same award show, you should definitely watch/react to it cuz it's amazing!
Jimin, won an award for his Fan Dance performance.
Im here for Monroe and zaks reactions to jimin
Every once in a while I watch this reaction. It's always so much fun to watch.
This whole performance (fake love + airplane pt 2 + idol) was around 240k usd.
Yep girl u r right thsy were getting criticized but thats why idol has so many korean references but u guys should wstch the first half of this called wbo are you because they actually did 3 other songs b4 this they did love yourself( just dancing) then fake love and then airplane pt 2 with a vcr in between fake love was epically good so dramatic
Also the fact they performed more songs before this and still had this much energy! I know this is old but just wanted to say 😊
4:08 I still can't believe that is actually J-hope's voice.
The song sounded a bit different because they used Korean instruments in the background. This is the most epic song intro I have ever seen.
The music was live too! The traditional korean instruments were played live with BTS live singing/rapping😆 that was the most epic performance I've EVER watched
Love your music and content! 💜
I think I'm in love with Monroe. She just so damn flawless for one and she stays educated about the boys.
Amazing.
Hopefully you see the other two performances that went with this💜
PLEEEEEEAASSSE?💜♾
Finally omg I was waiting for this , please react more of their performance , they actually are so good at live
react to (G)I-DLE - senorita, hann PLEASE
of course sound was different because of it was live of traditional instrument! we want this at the BBMA again!!😻
u guys should react to the rest of bts performance in MMA 2018
The song was a big mashup of traditional Korean styles (the music and clothing) with a blend of designs and dances from multiple cultures as a homage to their home and the various homes of the fans
You guys should react to BTS at the 2018 kbs song festival so you can see their individual charms in their solo songs !!
I just want to say you guys are on point with your vocals! I just love listening to you. Thank you so much.🌹
would be wonderful to see you guys react to BTS "Airplane pt. 2"
This is my fav version for idol! This is what bts really means! BORN TO SLAY!
You Should react to their Fake love performance and anpanman during the MAMA😭😭😭😭
This made me cry so hard. I wish that someday, there will be someone who can bring my whole country to their performance. So proud
