This fellow certainly keeps his Guardian Angel working overtime! :) Working to disassemble a compromised lithium battery on a cluttered workbench and using metal tools to pry away the battery casing is a recipe for a heck of a "Aw Sh_t Moment". Sure hope his fire insurance is paid up!!
i'd use light sandpaper, like 400 grit (non-conductive). You can be careful with a dremel and wire brush too but best to start easy with the sandpaper.

If there is just some light water damage to the connectors how would you clean the corrosion?
