The piano solo in this is very haunting, but I also find it very soothing and nostalgic. It reminds me of my own childhood and the feeling of being tucked into bed at night in a house surrounded by deep dark mysterious woods.
If Akira Yamaoka doesn’t compose the music for any future Silent Hill games, then Ulver should take over. This track and the second part are super unsettling, on par with something out of the first game.
I would have never guessed hard drive head seeking noises could be used in music. This track sort of makes me think of a dark lab after hours with a computer downloading a bunch of data when it shouldn't be.
There’s something oddly… EXTREMELY terrifying about this. Like I’m in the wrong place at the wrong time and I accidentally saw the computer downloading said information only to look up and see a little red recording light from a camera in the corner of the room
After only a few hours, subjects became acutely restless. They started to crave stimulation, talking, singing or reciting poetry to themselves to break the monotony. Later, many of them became anxious or highly emotional. Their mental performance suffered too, struggling with arithmetic and word association tests.
Something about the atmosphere of the music and the imagery of the album art feels incredibly liminal. It’s like the perfect soundtrack to walking home alone at 3am through the inner city suburbs, traversing through underpasses, navigating the subway tunnels and lonely residential streets with nothing but the dim haze of amber streetlights to guide you back home.
If you REALLY wanna get zero sleep tonight: listen to the full song whilst reading Scary Stories: To Tell In The Dark. It’s almost like the “Dark Side of the Rainbow” of pure nightmares 👍
@@kris242Sorry, I’m just now seeing this. I have comment notifications turned off. But yeah, I’m familiar with that. Just thought you might have mistitled Dark Side of the Moon lol.
Something about this track makes me just wanna pull out an old projector and watch home movies in my attic.
😂
Maybe have a little BBQ as well

@@KvisTwig Sinister, one kind of horror movie. Very nice and emotional scene (for me).
5:07 reminds me of my best days and also my worst days.. hard to explain, like comfort and sadness at the same time.
Sinister has the greatest modern horror soundtrack of all time
Without a doubt
Meh film, but fuckin EPIC soundtrack. Totally agree ❤️

The kinds of people who really enjoy listening to Ulver are the kinds of people who are going to be up at all hours of the night anyways.
