The words are so beautiful, but watching the video with Steve singing, the orchestra playing, Neal's beautiful guitar rifts, Steve Smith on drums and Jonathan on piano just adds to the visual beauty of the song 🎶🎤🎧💖
Seriously ! This is one of those rare times I highly recommend you watch the video! It just enhances the song…. It doesn’t DISTRACT like so many videos do. It just unfolds the emotion and the soul of this gorgeous song. Watch the video Fr… 😊❤️
This was the last Journey album with Steve Perry. Released in 1996, Steve still had an amazing voice, and this was nominated for a Grammy. So glad you appreciate Journey and Steve Perry, love you guys!
Oh,you should have watched the official video of this. It's so beautiful. It just focuses on Steve. And man, when you realize that his hair is down to his waist it floors you!
Wish you would have played the original video, watching Steve sing with such emotion is pure beauty and really adds to the song. And I can barely hear you guys, the sound is too low when you're talking. But this is one of my fave Journey songs!
Ever notice how so many lyric videos are absolute dog sh*t? Look how slow the fade-in and fade-out is in this video they used lmao..The whole point of lyric videos is to follow the song WITH the lyrics in real time! Such low effort. Alright, rant over. lmao
I grew up with Journey. I have seen them in concert many times and I know their music will be playing on the radio long after I am gone. One of the greatest bands ever. 👍👍💪💪🫡
This is my 4 year old daughter and I favorite song. She puts on a dress and says daddy dance with me. ❤️ when I dance with her I cry because I fast forward to thinking about me older and on her wedding day.
It came out in 1996 three years after my mother passed. She loved JOURNEY & Steve Perry. I dedicate this gem to my mom! I LOVE YOU & MISS YOUR SWEET VOICE!
Struggling today…I’m 58 & love my wife so much. She has stood by me; combat PTSD & all it entails- but she is fairly tiring of me. Just know I DO love the woman. She has made me better… Thank you for reviewing this song, by my favorite singer.
Steve "The Voice" Perry first walked away in 1987 from burnout - cant blame him. 9 years of continuous studio and touring. The band got back together in 95 and released "Trial By Fire" album in 96. He was ready to be part of it all again, but was hiking in Hawaii, and suddenly was stuck with severe pain in his hip and couldn't finish his hike. He learned he had degenerative bone in his hip and required a replacement and long rehab/recovery. He wasn't ready to do it right away, but the band wanted to go on tour to seize the momentum from the album (can't blame them) so they toured with a diff singer. Steve later had the surgery sometime in the 2000s. He returned to his hometown (Hanford, CA). Steve then met a woman whom he fell in love with and devoted his life to being with her and looking after her (she had failing health). She died in/around 2015 and on her deathbed she made him promise to go back to music. His 2018 solo album "Traces" was him honoring that wish. (this is all according to "The Big Interview" he had with Dan Rather in 2020. Excellent interview - if you are a true fan of Journey and Steve, it is worth the watch).
My favourite Journey song! I actually vaguely remember the music video being on TV around the time it came out. It must be one of my earliest memories.
I love this…. Video is with an orchestra. This was just before Steve walked away from Journey, for the last time in 1997. It was nominated for a Grammy but Steve refused to sing it on the Grammy show. Then he just walked away, after losing his girlfriend Sherry, his Moms passing and sustained a hiking injury that required hip replacement. Plus many disputes with the band. Many interviews about how it was several years before he even listened to any music. He was burnt out and emotionally drained and he wanted out. Such a gift, that voice. But too much for the man. More tragedy later but he will never sing with Journey again.
Every time I see him my eyes fill with tears. I don't know why, I don't know much about him -- your comment is more than I could have told you about him. I instantly feel a heaviness, deep sadness. I love his voice and I loved Journey growing up. It isn't the songs or the words, it's just him. It's weird, I don't know if there is anyone else that I see through a screen and can feel their soul -- that's how it feel anyway.
One of Steve Perry's last songs with Journey, and in my eyes, arguably, one of his best, most heart-felt songs. I still get misty every time I hear this song.
People aren't the same when this song is over they are overwhelmed and have become a emotional pile of beautiful feels ...you can count all of the ones to do this to you on two hands...when you love a woman you walking around carrying all that love everyday may we all be so lucky
I just love this song. It has to be one of the most beautiful rock ballads ever, a real dedication to just that, truly loving a woman with all your heart.
A classic line. "When you love a woman, you see your world inside her eyes." Simple but oh so profound! If you two get a chance, you definitely need to see the official video with the whole orchestra and band, and Steve Perry pouring out his heart!!
Yes and history fact is Steve was in excruciating pain during the video with his bad hip. It is stated that he took sitting breaks during rehearsal and making of video. He is and will always be "The Voice" to me!
It's too bad you're not watching the video and watching Steve singing this beautiful song, the emotion he puts into it, is a beautiful thing to experience. It touches you and resonates to your heart and soul. I love this man, what a gift he gives to the world then and now.
Awsome song! Literally makes the hair go up on the back of my neck. Steve Perry is one of the best male vocalists of the modern age. Journey in 81 was my 1st concert and still my favorite group. Glad Steve came back after a long break to record solos. Did Neil play the guitar in this song?
I had already completed my university studies, I was so in Love with her, learned the words, practiced this song on my piano, & when I felt ready, I sang it to her, & proposed marriage..... This song, like with all music, every time I hear this song, I get transported through Time. If only I could go back in time, I'd would've sang this song to another woman!
One of the saddest days was when I heard Steve was no longer going to be the lead singer for Journey. I thought it was the end for the group....who could replace "The Voice"? While they've tried and had success with Dean Castronovo and Arnel Pineda, Journey was never the same. Neal, Jonathan, Ross and Steve "Machine Gun" Smith along with "The Voice" will forever be remembered by me as THE Journey. I've never loved a group more than these guys and at age 60, the love for their music has never passed. I've been asked by my wife what my favorite Journey song is and I tell my princess, "Journey fans don't have a number one song because they love every single one of them." Thanks Asia and BJ for the love.
You forgot Steve's first replacement Steve Augeri . He was quite good. I saw the with Augeri. I enjoyed that show a lot. BUT was not Perry. There's reason Steve the voice Perry is considered one in a billion talent.
Such a great song. This was their last album with Steve Perry. I was just saying he could sing to me all night long. I'd be in heaven. My favorite band is Journey and Steve Perry will always be my favorite singer. I kid around and say he's my fake husband
Journey had quietly disbanded in 1987 because singer Steve Perry was burned out after years of recording & touring... 8 years later, Steve Perry approached Journey around 1995 about working on new music. This song was from Journey's 1996 comeback album 'Trial by fire' and got the band a Grammy Award... However, it was the last record Steve Perry would be on for over 20 years. In 1997, just as Journey was preparing to tour again, Steve Perry discovered he was in severe pain... he needed hip replacement surgery, and after waiting for months, Journey opted to part ways w/ Steve Perry in 1998 and carried on w/ new singers. Steve Perry recovered from surgery in the 2000's, but was reluctant to return to music and lived quietly for decades... Journey's music was still popular and selling for years, so Perry enjoyed a good income thru music royalties without any involvement in music. In 2018, Steve Perry finally returned w/ a solo album 'Traces' (his first album since Journey's 'Trial by fire') and he released a Christmas album in 2021.
Oh yes, Journey and Steve (the voice) Perry! Top 10 favorite bands of mine, of ALL TIME! Their live from Houston 1981 concert is phenomenal! Sounds exactly like the studio- I can’t remember.. have y’all done their song “Who’s cryin ‘now?” If not PLEASE do-and do the live from Houston, plz again with 🍒 on top. 😬💜💙
There are so many good singers out there. From the past and today. There are only a few that have that "thing". I have been to so many concerts in my years. Steve is one of those guys that sound even better live than he does on the album. Just like Freddie, these guys add so much more to their songs that sound incredible.
This was my wedding song! Not only was Journey my wedding song, they were my first concert and I took my daughters to see Journey for their first concert! Unfortunately, Steve was no longer with Journey when I took them, but they know him well!
Ok. Nephew/niece please react to "when you love a woman " the official video. Trust me you gotta watch the video. The emotion/passion on Steve's face throughout the video is priceless 🤎🤎🤎🖤🖤🖤
Great choice, great singer, great band, great song. Love from California. Oh, the whole album was great. Also, Steve Perry's solo song "You Better Wait" also from the early 90's is great too. Really like that video and that song.
I'm with thise who wish thus was the music video. So much about the music back then was the connection with the band when you watch the video....or better yet, attend the concert live.
Guys, there are two earlier Journey songs that you really need to check out. These songs really demonstrate Steve Perry's vocals. The first is from their Departure album... "Good Morning Girl/Stay Awhile" is really two songs that blend into each other. A great love ballad. The other song that you should check out is on their Raised on Radio album and it's called "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever." My wife and I used this one in our wedding. Check out the studio versions - they will not disappoint.
Steve Perry has a way of crooning Rock Ballads that no one else comes close to. He's just got that magical voice and emotive way of singing mixed with the great musicianship of his bandmates in Journey. This is the only song believe it or not in Journey's history and amazing musical legacy that was nominated for a Grammy. Steve says after the band being away and then coming back together for the Trial by Fire Record and recording this song that being nominated for the song meant so much to him as it's a testament to how great chemistry and music never ends whether you are gone from it for a few years or for perhaps 20+ years as Perry had stepped out of the spotlight and now is back loving music at 72 years of age. So, this song is really a testament to the great writing and emotions of a great band that had so much fire and chemistry despite whatever was going on behind the music and the band. There is a Japanese Import Journey Ballads which contains many of their hits that we know and love but I also encourage you to dive deep into their Rock Music as well: Line of Fire, Wanted Dead or Alive, Back Talk, Lovin You is Easy, Raised on Radio, Edge of the Blade: They could do it all and any genre of music and make it sound amazing. Journey is truly one of those bands where I can put on any Album they ever recorded and listen from track to track and every song is great. They just had that thing that is so special and rare.
My wife plays this when she is in the MOOD.... After 36 years... it is just dancing no more boom, boom but the Dance is well worth it... Steve is so great...
I don`t know if it`s just me or what but I hear the music just fine but I have it all the way turned up to max and I can barely hear y`all..love to hear y`all talk but I can`t hear,lol..it might just be me..btw I love this song! Keep On Rockin'
George Jefferson is looking at the lyrics like WTH is this 😳 George RIP 🙏 ,but this is great music can't go wrong with Steve Perry GEORGE. Thank you for reacting to this ❤ MUCH love to you and your family 💕Brandi Modrak 💕❤
Beautiful song! Man... no other love song has moved me like this one. The way it's put together with Steve's voice and the band's too when they come in. You can get lost in this song. Music is made to make you feel something 👋
I hope by now you've watched the video. When Neal's playing those beautiful guitar solos on that lovely white guitar, but theres a clip that shows Steve's long black hair all the way down his back, wearing a Black leather jacket! They needed to film much more of that. In that brief second it captures Steves passion, the emotion he brings to this song; to all of Journey's iconic songs they wrote together. I'd give anything to see it on a big screen! ❤
Hay guys Steve can never be replaced, but they have a drama called Steve Casanova, and he sings most of the songs. You gotta capture his voice. It’s unbelievable
@2:50 You can see on Asia's face - she is blissfully twitterpated over his voice. wedding vibes for sure! 25 years ago, I married the love of my life, and this song was our first official dance as a married couple at our reception. This was the song we agreed upon would be our first dance song. I still remember how she looked. Yea it was our reception - so BJ, you were right (this time - don't let it go to your head) 🙂 We just celebrated our Silver Anniversary and this song still brings back so many great happy moments. Journey has another song about the eyes of a woman calling conveniently enough "The Eyes of a Woman". Gorgeous song!!! From the Raised on Radio album (1986)
The original video you should’ve watched it is so good but after you know behind the scenes, you must watch it At the time that journey was working on this album this song when they were taping the video Steve Perry already had severe issues with his hip area. During breaks he would go into another room offset and they would cover him in ice front and back because he was in such agony. This was before his surgery that the band was trying to force on him to do just to do a tour. I love this song, and Steve Perry is the best 💙🎤🎶
They never bothered to think what being intubated that long would do to his voice. He was trying to find another way, Neal didn't care. His callous attitude is what broke the band up again. And the coward couldn't tell him himself, but sent Jonathan.
Thanks for doing more Journey. This was such a great song. Check out the official video when you get a chance. Please check out some of there songs from the 86 album Raised on Radio. "The Girl Can't Help It" and "Suzanne" Thanks and God Bless
This was the last album that Steve performed with journey they never even got the tour on the album but it is a fantastic album every song on the album is great you can tell they’re just some mature men put a gather one of the best albums I think journey ever put together. I really wished you guys would look at the video for this song it is such a great video do yourself a favor and look it up
I was fortunate enough to see Journey many, many times with Steve Perry when I was a teenager. Some people these days may think lighting lighters during concerts back then was dorky but it was a sight to see when Steve Perry was singing Faithfully live with thousands of lighters lit up across the arena.
Written by Steve Perry , Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon. Last music video 📹 of Journey with Steve Perry. 😥 Great last ballad for Steve Perry in Journey. Suggested next song Message of Love 💘
The words are so beautiful, but watching the video with Steve singing, the orchestra playing, Neal's beautiful guitar rifts, Steve Smith on drums and Jonathan on piano just adds to the visual beauty of the song 🎶🎤🎧💖

The greatest rock and roll voice ever!
You need to watch the video version you will love it too!! It is on UA-cam! It is so beautiful and breath taking ! Steve Perry has a handsome voice!!
Wish you would have played the original video, watching Steve sing with such emotion is pure beauty and really adds to the song. And I can barely hear you guys, the sound is too low when you're talking. But this is one of my fave Journey songs!
Agree, the sound is way of the entire song is off.
Yeah this is my favorite Steve Perry song of all time
yes the official video is awesome to see the singer and band ...this was their last great ballad with lead vocal Steve Perry
It's an amazing song, but the Trial By Fire album is full of great ballads like " When I Think Of You " and " It's Just The Rain. "
Ever notice how so many lyric videos are absolute dog sh*t? Look how slow the fade-in and fade-out is in this video they used lmao..The whole point of lyric videos is to follow the song WITH the lyrics in real time! Such low effort. Alright, rant over. lmao

Any ballet sung by Steve Perry will bring tears to anyone's eyes, and fill them with love in their hearts. His voice is special.

The last single and video released by Journey with Steve Perry as lead singer
The entire album (Trial by Fire - 1996) was musical gold.
This is such an amazing song! Every journey song is
I love this song and have for many years. Of course anything by Journey, with Steve Perry, has my approval!

The video is gorgeous with Steve and his hair down to his waist 🥰
I just love this song. It has to be one of the most beautiful rock ballads ever, a real dedication to just that, truly loving a woman with all your heart.
“Why can’t this night go on forever “one of Steve’s most beautiful ballads
That, and "Stay Awhile", I can't believe no one I've seen has reacted to that one yet.
I always get chills (goose bumps) every time I hear that final line in the lyrics.
A classic line. "When you love a woman, you see your world inside her eyes." Simple but oh so profound! If you two get a chance, you definitely need to see the official video with the whole orchestra and band, and Steve Perry pouring out his heart!!

Journey is ALWAYS on the playlist.

He's just got that magical voice and emotive way of singing mixed with the great musicianship of his bandmates in Journey. This is the only song believe it or not in Journey's history and amazing musical legacy that was nominated for a Grammy. Steve says after the band being away and then coming back together for the Trial by Fire Record and recording this song that being nominated for the song meant so much to him as it's a testament to how great chemistry and music never ends whether you are gone from it for a few years or for perhaps 20+ years as Perry had stepped out of the spotlight and now is back loving music at 72 years of age. it wasn't just you - the sound mix on their voices was off (too low).
Sound is really bad on music portion as well.
Dude I keep looking at George Jefferson thinking that’s the video.
🤣🤣
Me too. That show was a hoot.
I did too at first! Hahahaha
That’s hilarious. Now I do too
George Jefferson is looking at the lyrics like WTH is this 😳 George RIP 🙏 ,but this is great music can't go wrong with Steve Perry GEORGE.
You nailed it sweetheart. It put a beautiful smile on your face. You felt it
Asia melted. I get it though. We just celebrated 35 years and i still feel this way about my wife.
You must check out the live version of Mother, Father. Same concert as Don't stop Believing
I just love this song you should watch the video it just show how much he puts into singing
JOURNEY === MESSEGE OF LOVE
PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEEE 🤍🤍🤍
I hope by now you've watched the video. When Neal's playing those beautiful guitar solos on that lovely white guitar, but theres a clip that shows Steve's long black hair all the way down his back, wearing a Black leather jacket! They needed to film much more of that. In that brief second it captures Steves passion, the emotion he brings to this song; to all of Journey's iconic songs they wrote together. I'd give anything to see it on a big screen! ❤
Better to see the video!
Hay guys Steve can never be replaced, but they have a drama called Steve Casanova, and he sings most of the songs. You gotta capture his voice. It’s unbelievable
I love this song its hits deep
@2:50 You can see on Asia's face - she is blissfully twitterpated over his voice.
wedding vibes for sure! 25 years ago, I married the love of my life, and this song was our first official dance as a married couple at our reception. This was the song we agreed upon would be our first dance song. I still remember how she looked. Yea it was our reception - so BJ, you were right (this time - don't let it go to your head) 🙂
We just celebrated our Silver Anniversary and this song still brings back so many great happy moments.
Journey has another song about the eyes of a woman calling conveniently enough "The Eyes of a Woman". Gorgeous song!!! From the Raised on Radio album (1986)
Enjoyed this reaction . This song is priceless, one of their best
The original video you should’ve watched it is so good but after you know behind the scenes, you must watch it
At the time that journey was working on this album this song when they were taping the video Steve Perry already had severe issues with his hip area.
Check out their song “Stone in Love”! You really can’t go wrong with any of their songs!
I really wished you guys would look at the video for this song it is such a great video do yourself a favor and look it up
This is the only song by journey that was up for a Grammy. Really hard to believe but true.
You're not going to believe this, Don't Stop Believing from the Glee soundtrack was nominated in 2011.
Asia & BJ, their Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' and "Anyway You Want It" are next for you!!
I’m so in love with this song ❤
Perfect wedding 💒 song…. Lyrics say 🎵 when you love a woman, there’s a band of gold (meaning wedding ring) that shines. 🎶
I was fortunate enough to see Journey many, many times with Steve Perry when I was a teenager. Some people these days may think lighting lighters during concerts back then was dorky but it was a sight to see when Steve Perry was singing Faithfully live with thousands of lighters lit up across the arena.
Wouldn't trade that experience, those times back then for all the cell phone flashlights in the world
You can hear how much Steve’s voice had matured and changed by this point in his career.
It had begun to develop a rasp.
And it was still fantastic.
You've got to see video for this song. Its fantastic. ✌️
I truly enjoy watching y’all’s reactions. You guys rock….
George looking at the lyrics with the stinkeye! Love it!
Beautiful song. Love both your reactions.
Any song by Steve Perry is a gift.
You guys are so genuine. Keep it going.
Steve Perry could sing a Chinese take out menu !!!
IKR
Beautiful love ❤️ song gives me the goosies
I Love this song.
Written by Steve Perry , Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon. Last music video 📹 of Journey with Steve Perry. 😥
Great last ballad for Steve Perry in Journey.
