I have a pair of the XT6Fs and recently I bought a pair of KEF R7 Metas. I had the Tannoys boxed and ready to be sold. After a week of listening to the KEFs (exclusively) I unboxed the Tannoys and decided to send back the £4000 KEFs. These Tannoys are extremely good. It's a shame Tannoy are now no longer but the staff started making their own speakers and they are definitely and unmistakably from the same stable. Fyne Audio are definitely worth a listen if you can't find a pair of XT6 or 8s. Made in Scotland too just like the Tannoys.
I have found with extensive room acoustic treatment that these speakers can produce astonishing deep bass and sub bass. They also sound better if bi-amplified.
Loved it. I like reviews from music fans - it means you’re not always in a critical state of mind. Which is fine if you’re a professional. It has to be hard to turn that off sometimes. Enjoyed it.
Thank you for a very articulate description of the sound of the XT8F. I have these and they cost about 10% of the price of my front end, but I don't want to change these speakers. But also they are very room friendly. The speaker brass jumpers between the bi-amp posts need to be replaced with quality jumper cables.
Hello, thank you for your impressions. This is what I felt when buying. Nowdays i would love comparing them to the new polk audio R700; Very interessting match
I have the 8xt and have heard the Polks, the Tannoy is better for sound stage and bass, I find them a more revealing speaker. The Polks are nice but it has a more rolled off treble and relaxed presentation. The Revolution need care when pairing with an amplifier. I had a Rega Ellicit R and had to change to a Parasound Halo as the sound was too bright.
In my case, in front I have xt8f , center xtc and sourround xt6f with audiolab 6000a. I just ordered an Onkyo A-9130 to compare both amplifiers. I had musical fidelity m2si, Cambridge cx81 and in the end I kept Audiolab 6000a .
i had 6 diffrent tanoy speaker s last one is xtf 6 and speaker cablle hf wireworld eklips 6 and yamamura6000 millenium for bas it took 4 month of anger and now with right angle turn inward i cant belive what a good sound
I regret not getting some of these when they came out. Since Tannoy have changed production and closed everything in Scotland, prices have gone through the roof…!
Yes I’m so glad I got to buy these from the family of my buddy that past away. They sound incredible. He really knew his stuff. I remember when he bought them and I thought that he did a huge mistake. I had no idea about Tannoys more high end series. Hooked them up. Man. I was blown away.
Thank you so much. Yes I did a video a few months before called My stereo equipment or something like that. I think most of the components were the same
Hello again, could you have the opportunity to listen to the Polk auio R700? it wiuld be really interessisting. Both with 20cm boomer. I would really lke to know your impressions if you could listen to the Polk R700. I jsut discovered an unbeilevable one thin;. I tried these tannoy with MF m2si, Cambridge cxa81, Rega elex and so on but I have just got an expenive amplifier Onkyo a9130 and it is amazing, the best match for me.
@B ANANNA these speakers are very revealing and amp and speaker cable sensitive. I also found top end improved by replacing brass connectors on binding posts with quality jumper cables.
I’ve had XT6F’s for 7 years. They get sweeter over time. Phenomenal imaging and detail.
Feels like the end game speaker for me 😀
I agree, I have the 8s purchased 2nd hand but I do believe their sound got better over time, especially after I switched to bi-amping and bi-wiring
I have the XT6Fs too, one of my subscribers says they go to another level with the isoAcoustics Gaia iii isolation

I think you did a good choice. They really are incredible. I had no idea about Fyne. Will check it out. Would be cool to listen to them.
Have to say I love myXT6Fs too.

I dident get that last one. Would it do anything to replace what? 😀
@SublimMedia my speakers have brass connectors between the binding posts. If you replace these with Audioquest jumper cables, sound improves.
@@bshah4831 aaaaaaa. I will look into that. Bought them from my friend that passed so I’m not sure if he already did it 😀
@@bshah4831 do i need to do this even if I have bi-wire cables. The Rocket88.
@SublimMedia nothing needed if biwired

Nice one jonas fab speakers and one of the best speaker manufacturers.
agree!

Great review. Which equipment did you use with these speakers? I mean the source and the amp, etc... Thanks

Great review. Tack för det. Har nu köpt ett par XT8F. :)
Kul. Hoppas du gillar dom!
@@SublimMediahar bara kört dem några gånger men det är otroligt bra stage och jag är verkligen mycket nöjd för dessa pengar! 🤘🔊
I bought a pair of Martin Logan's 60 xti. I could not find a pair of the Tannoys for sale anywhere. Still interested. Where do I find them in the USA?
I have no idéa. Dont know if they even produce them any more. Doubt it. Try to see if you can find them on the used market.
I think if this speaker sounds half as good as it looks, then it's a winner. I hemmed and hawed a couple years ago on these and now it's too late.
nowhere at all in the USA....upscale audio is the only dealer and he only has the smaller 6's...
The 6s are also unbelievable.
What make/model of speakers have you listen to before in the same room?🤔
Focal floor standing and buchardt s400
I thought you did a great job at describing the sound quality
Thank you!
*Are they still manufacturing these?*
I don’t think so.

They sound very very harsh in the upper frequencies especially with sax etc. I wonder how long before you start thinking of a more balanced speaker.
I disagree. With my tube amp and TT I don’t think they are harsh at all.
@@SublimMedia l guess it's very opinionated and each person will hear slightly different. Also to hear actually hear them would be different. 🙂

Well, it depends on the recording. My benchmark for
great recordings is Chesky Records, their albums sound fantastic on these speakers.
Is it available in India 🇮🇳?
No idea!
These aren't made in Scotland -:) Why are you reviewing something they no longer make??
I will never leave Tannoy 😅 My Eaton Legacy’s will follow me in to the grave…
I feel you!
