This week Jonny continue their Czech pilsner adventures by visiting Uneticky Pivovar and falling in the love with the beer while repeatedly getting the name wrong.
See this incredible, historic brewery and learn about its uniquely dry, soda-like pilsners all open fermented in ice cellars dating back hundreds of years.

The Czechs are wonderful, spunky people making wonderful beers.
Spent a week in Prague in Sept 2018 and loved every minute. Great beer, great people, great vibe to the city. One of my favorite cities in the world.
Amen to that - such a beautiful place too.
Ready for another trip to Prague in a few weeks which will be my 1st since covid hit and had to revisit these amazing Czech videos. Love it
People liked this place and settled there at least 4300 years ago, before the bronze age.
What a fantastic video The Craft Beer Channel! Any beer lovers visiting Prague, this afternoon trip to Uneticky brewery is an absolute must! They have the best beer you will ever drink! VERY MOREISH! :D
Been there last summer, beautiful, peaceful village and oustanding beer, probably the best we tasted across the whole Czech Republic together with the Pilsner Urquell from the Tank.
A must see for those who plan to visit and get to know czech beer culture and tradition. Also, I recommend to hike through the beautiful hills around the village to get there from the main road, although it is however possible (and easy) to get there from Prague with a couple of buses.
Na zdravi!
Thanks for the tips! Such a wonderful culture and part of the world.
All are welcome to try this delicious beer in Joystick bar along with some oldschool video games :-) Its in the very center of Prague and the beer prices are extremely low for the area!
thanks for info , we'll check both the beers and the games in july :-)
Watched this video about 4 times now. Find it absolutely fascinating to watch. Such a great beer. Just goes to show some traditional lagers can actually stand up to the new guys.
Amen! In our experience few modern breweries can achieve the quality of the traditional brewers of Bavaria and Czechia. And when they do we get them on the channel as soon as we can!
Great video! I think the conversation around pressurized fermentations being faster is missing a critical piece of context: Pressurized fermentations by themselves don't go any faster than an unpressurized for open fermentation; modern pressurized fermentations are often accompanied by higher temperatures (the pressure restrains ester, phenol and higher alcohol production, allowing for a higher temperature); it's the higher temperatures, not the higher pressures that will accelerate fermentations.
Czech republic and Germany know how to make delicious beer. Cheers
yes we do :D
I realize it's pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Lucas Kellan try flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Anders Ramon yup, I've been using FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Anders Ramon thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it !
Now I want a Czech Pilsner.
Job done.
Brewer is a cool guy!
Open top fermentation. Just WOW!!!!
Great video fellas. What a fantastic looking brewery and beer. cheers
We actually have three(!) places here in my hometown of Malmö, Sweden who sell this great brewery's beer. They've even done a colab with a local brewery, coming out this winter.
absolutely great brewery the beer is top notch
I would love those beers! Next roadtrip I will go and visit the brewery! Czech beers are best in the world!
Excellent chat my friend. Informative and interesting.
Love that you are doing a where to drink in Prague, il be living in Budapest for a few months next year so il definetively have a trip over there. Great video guys
This is a great beer!
If you fellows find yourself on Chicago you’d love Dovetail brewery.
Truly executing beers that people rave about in Europe, here in the states. So happy to have dovetail in Chicago
Heard good things about them before. We hope to make it to chicago one day soon!
I was there yesterday. It's a great spot.
we import it over to the us in a giant container, then package it at our brewery sometimes!
My favourite beer, along with Vinohradska Pivo.
Not had beers by them! We'll have to track some down.
god i would kill to get this beer in the UK. so so good. their amber christmas special beer was to die for as well.
Guys, make a brewery trip to northern Czech to visit Svijany, Rohozec and Krakanos breweries. I have been to all three, cheap as chips, fresh wonderful beer and each is completely different. City of Trutnov makes Krakanos, 75cents for a pint at the brewery pub.
Svijany brewery is just outside Liberec, In the city, main town hall has 3 tank svijany and great beer hall restaurant.
Rohozec is totally under rated, it's my go to beer every weekend, but the brewery is in Turnov, close to Liberec. Cheap and malty full body, crisp, hoppy. Just fly to Prague, take train or bus to Liberec, could do all three in one day or make a weekend of it.
This beer looks soo tasty...I like high carbonated beers like Duval..
The imported for the US is about a 40 minute drive from my house in Connecticut. They import the beer in large tanks, and can it in Connecticut.
With the Brewdio now, how close do you guys think you could get to these beers doing it from home? Fascinating how different beers in the same place are made so differently. Great video.
whenever I home brew weißbier which now I am back in Germany is a lot less I always do open ferment. There is such a thick krausen that basically nothing can get through the beers always seem to come out better too. The brewer was right about it as for 100s of years the technology just wasnt available to do what we typically do today but still they must have made drinkable beer
Interesting! We have done some reading and some research suggests bigger headroom during fermentation allows for more esters...and having no lid certainly means more headroom!
Subbed
Belgian trappists sort of also do the Plato scale. Except they use a real weird scale where 6 degrees Belgian = 1.060, 8 degrees Belgian = 1.080, etc. Or so says Brew Like a Monk. Those pilsners look great, making me super thirsty.
Interesting! So kinda shorthand on the gravity method.
To me this is too extreme..I think the balance of sweet malted barley and/or wheat with the bitterness and wide variety of hoppy flavors is what makes beer the most amazing drink 😃
Going too Monschau were should l go.....?
Hey Brad the guy that's with you I can't remember his name but I love his rings and I like all his bracelets that he wears in the show he is amazing and don't forget you are too but I would like to at least comment some nice things about him also because he is also amazing please hit thumbs up or thumbs down if you like my comments
please post your where to drink in Prague video soon ! i'll be there next week :-)
Afraid it won't go next week, but our highlights were aly/Velky, U Fleku and Lokal!
Herwig de jong try pivovor u dobresnich I think it’s called google it in Prague also tri ruzi
if you come to norway again you should check out some traditional brewers
yes. Yes we should. Who would you suggest?
@@TheCraftBeerChannel probably sigmund gjernes or terje raftevold, you could also contact lars marius garshol for info.
Hey Johnny let’s wrap up that vacation, get your new house/brewery sorted and get your skinny ass back here! ❤️👆🏻🍺
Great video as always. When are you uploading the Prague beer guide? Will be there from 12th Dec for a couple of days!
Sadly not before then! But we say head to Maly/Velky, U Fleku and Lokal. Those were our highlights for sure.
Ah shame, but thanks for the selected highlights! Will check them out.
Mjjm12 look at my posting defo go there
@@alangoodlad6869 Great thanks, will do!
Zly Casy (which has a great bottle shop) is a good pub with good food and very very easy to get to by tram. Kulovy blesk is good too.
They probably do the primary fermentation in the open fermenters and then lager amd carbonate closed?
Absolutely - 10 days in open, around 20 in tank to lager and carbonate.
Has anyone you've come across in your adventures, 'secondaried' in barrels? Not aged but just a final, wee secondary before packaging? Couple of weeks tops Thanks chaps! @The Craft Beer Channel @@TheCraftBeerChannel
How dry? Got the final gravity?
They kept that secret but i expect the 10 (the lower abv one) ended close to zero.
Hopefully you popped into Beer Geek!
Sure did
Fully fermented beer in 2 or 3 days?
For the macro brewers, sure.
Úněticky /Oon yeh teet ski/
Urquell /oor kvel/
So they take the first wurt boil it and the add it to the mash again?
Not quite - they take the grain and liquid and heat that.
See Wikipedia :)
Coloquem legendas para os brasileiros que acompanham o canal.
If in Prague go to U Tri Ruzi and Pivovar U Dobrenskych if you think this is good,my god I could drown in it Hmmmmmm
Jealous of everyone close to Europe! I've got the Atlantic in my way 😣
Haha well we often say the same of your side of the pond!
if you are in the east coast, this brewery has a deal with B United in Connecticut, unitickie pivovar ships their beer in large containers, then it is canned once in Connecticut. I just picked two 4 packs up of 12º in maryland
You say it keeps the hops up suspended in the fermentation? There shouldn't be any hops in the fermentation.....
Excellent point. We definitely shoulda said krausen, proteins, some small hop matter from the boil etc.
Unless you're going for biotransformation doe innit too@@TheCraftBeerChannel
prague lager? praguer?
Shave your beard. Wear a wig, that lady is your double! 😂
Haha. I like to think i would need to gain a few pounds too...
I'm probably a little bit drunk because I can't remember his name but if your a person that love this show and you don't drink please don't watch this show just get off of this show I mean that's just personally or what I I I think in my opinion
