This is sadly accurate for a lot of ex-felons. At least Luther took it in a dignified stride and Uncle Phil learned not to judge people by their pasts and to treat employees with better respect...Will not so much.

Thats what the director chose. Giving the audience a visual that the police are there it raises tension on what's going to happen. It won't have the same effect if the cops rang the doorbell because that could be anybody at the door because we can see them. Logically the other comments explained it well enough.
Its always good to explain something to someone three long years later. Hope this helps.

it's always the people you least suspect of being the criminal.
always the same thing, just because someone made a mistake in life and got caught.
doesn't mean that after they had done their time, they can just go back to life.
no people judge others by their mistakes and those who judge other for the those mistakes are the real monsters, the real criminals.

Eddie Haskell??? The same Eddie Haskell who, along with the infamous Cleaver brothers, fastened a chain around the rear axle of Lumpy Rutherford's car, causing unplanned damage as the entire rear axle, wheels and all, became detached when Lumpy tried to move the car? I guess he never learned his lesson.
