You have to understand the National News Media is on this to distort reality and push an agenda. Every year during election, the National News Media will PROMOTE a news story and distort the truth to get the population to Vote Democrat.
If you read all the reporting on the George Floyd incident by the New York Times, you will notice that NY Times did NOT REPORT into the 18 year history of George Floyd's criminal history of theft and armed robbery. The last where he did a house invasion of a pregnant woman and held a gun to her belly asking where the money and drugs are. George was spending time in Houston prison for aggravated robbery before being released and moving to Minneapolis. 98% of the general public have no idea of the extent of George's long rap sheet of criminal history because NONE OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA in America reported on it. George had at least 5 stints in jail with evidence of criminal arrests fom 1997-2007 or twenty years of criminal behavior with at least 9 arrests. But notice that the New York Times did a thorough research of Derek Chauvin going back to his childhood. The New York Times could not find any evidence of verbal or written racism by Derek Chauvin. Not one associate or friend said he was racist. Remember that one of the other 3 police officers that day is a light-skinned black male. Remember that the owner of the bar that Chauvin worked part-time is Hispanic and his former wife is Asian.
During that 2020 event, noticed that the national newspaper, "USA TODAY" was actually promoting and publishing the dates and times of BLM marches across the USA. That is, USA TODAY was in on it to promote the "peaseful protests" that ended costing the insurance industry close to $3 BILLION.
If you want to read about the extensive criminal history of George Floyd between 1997-2007, search this article in quote below from the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail is a UK or British newspaper that did a thorough investigative job that none of USA national newspapers did not report on.

In addition to the Tony Tima case where a white man died in Dallas, Texas while the police kneeled on the back of Timpa for 14 minutes, there is also a similar incident the a Hispanic man who passed away by hands of police that occured about 1.5 years after George Floyd. This happened to Mario Gonzalez in Alameda , California. Again, why did this identical death was not shown or promoted by the National News Media? Because it doesn't fit their agenda and to hide from the general public that this actually happens to ALL ETHNICIITIES and not due to racism as they would like to promote so the Democrates use to get into office.

My site here on UA-cam all but ignored, but thankful that after all these years there are 203 subscribers who have considered the ancient, untaught solution and found no offense. @@squatch545 A simple google search will show you financially which cities severed budgets. There were many many cities across America where police budgets were cut in extreme ways. Moreover, apart from the financial disaster that this was, it was an overarching sentiment targeted at police that tried to tell Americans that ALL police are "the bad guys" and that they are out hunting the black man. This sentiment led to the greatest harms being perpetrated against the very group that it claimed to help. That is what is meant by saying "but they did it anyway" by the original poster.

My friends and I were talking about the hypocrisy of politicians wanting citizens to narc on each other for visits, gatherings, but when everyone is outside protesting, etc, it was perfectly fine. Make it make sense.
Jocko pointed out how Navy Seals train for 18 months for a 6 month deployment. Police need more training, not less.
Well I’m gonna say it, a police officer and a Navy Seal are two very different types of jobs. A Navy Seal trains to kill people and accomplish missions critical to national security. A Police Officer trains to take your traffic report, or wrestle drunks into custody.
I do get the sentiment for more training though. Most peace officers at reputable agencies have 18 months of training before they are certified. Most state licensing agencies also require a minimum amount of training to maintain their licenses. there is also training value gleaned from every patrol shift that you wouldn’t necessarily take in by sitting in a classroom.
Most of the missions the navy seals conduct have a real correlated mission in the law enforcement world. Seals also conduct hostage rescue and respond to active shooter situations. Seals have to gather intelligence and execute missions on that intelligence.
Sure the main difference is Seals get to fight bad guys who are foreigners and cops get to fight other Americans who are just as bad.

@@squatch545 Ok couple things… you say “We’ve” tried more training. Who is we? Because there are thousands of police agencies across America. Many of them with no more than 20 officers on the department and with only enough budget to hire officers that paid for their own academy.
Also, the whole militarized cops thing always blows my mind. A Department having SWAT capabilities does not mean it’s militarized. Officers actions cannot be authoritarian, we only have the authority to enforce laws and statutes created by legislatures that WE vote in, meanwhile the way we enforce said laws is under constant scrutiny by the District and Supreme courts.

Blacks were 36% more likely to be homicide victims in the Year of the Racial Reckoning, 2020, compared to the bad old days of 2019.
Then you gotta explain why crime went down during 2008 financial crisis
If the defund police drive began in mid 2020 the increased murder numbers wouldn’t apply until at least the next year as budgets and allocations were set, to attribute it to defunding just isn’t true
@James_Willow When you take away consequences for peoples actions they will take advantage of the system that has been created. Mass looting is another perfect example. California basically made it legal to steal as long as it did not exceed 900 dollars. Now businesses are shutting down and or moving out of these areas.

Lots of people were citing statistics about numbers of police brutality broken down by race. It was totally ignored by the great media we have in this country. Plenty of people were trying to raise this issue.

There is a lot of selfish misinformed stupid people out there buddy.
I was living in East Harlem during the defund protest. There was a huge protest one day while we were out for a walk. I looked at the people protesting and they did not look like people that really spent much time in East Harlem. They came out to protest police, but don't come out to support the businesses in the community, they probably were not aware about the crime in the area, ect... There were there to protest and feel good about themselves.
I am a left of center with many, many liberal and progressive friends as my career field requires a degree and deals with social services. Every single person supporting the defunding of police in my friend group were also insulated from the fall out. They were middle class white liberal females paying a premium to live in neighborhoods where the primary grocery store was a Whole Foods and saw very little crime. I honestly just removed myself from this group of friends because I got tired of their self congratulatory behavior with zero forethought as to how it would actually impact the communities they claimed to want to help. These are the types of people that will give 100s to a struggling black or Hispanic student but not stay after school to help them learn to read. They are they type of people that will attend marches but not be able to articulate why they are there (it actually happened to a group of my friends when they were interviewed at a feminist march in Savannah). Because they are only there to say they were, to wear their “goodness” like a badge, and to grab a microbrew IPA and vegan sandwich afterwards while crowing how they just stuck it to “the man.” Performative. All performative.
That's a good thing you point out, a lot of the "protesters" over the last few years are not from the areas or even the state they are protesting in. Many are essentially hired actors to push the agenda and message.
@@dostagirl9551 sounds like you might benefit from making new friends. there are plenty of reasonable people who self-describe as either moderate or right of center. after voting straight D since 2000, personally i'll never pull the lever again for a Democratic candidate under any circumstances. my moment of change was partially described near the end of this video - encouraging race riots mere weeks after locking people inside their homes, all in a completely insane attempt to do anything possible to win in the november election.
There are people who are "full time protestors", I hung out with Anarchist and Communists and I know the type of people that often protest, they travel across the country and often internationally, there are also people who are "professional protestors" (paid protestors) and "full-time protestors" (often unemployed people on welfare or squatters, illegal immigrants from wealthy countries, Etc.). I just cannot stress how the numbers of a protest doesn't reflect popular opinion. Most anti-nuclear protests are just people from all over the world or all over the country coming to stop cheap energy. These people have no issue distorting issues either as long as they get their way and many have no issue getting violent if they know that they can get away with it. Very few of them are actually empathetic people, one older man I met wished for humanity to devolve into nomads and when I pressed him about it he smugly admitted that billions would have to "disappear" for his dream world to come true and that cities will be ruins of a bygone civilisation. I cannot stress how misanthropic many of these people are.
@@Planeet-Long I went to University in San Fran. I saw how for some people protesting was almost like a hobby. It is easier to tear down than to build up. When you ask questions you see many protesters don't really know what they are protesting and just repeat talking points.

@@hmu958 Yes it does. If it didn’t everyone would be a doctor or an engineer or a lawyer and society would cease to function as everyone stops striving for better. It’s not 100%, nothing is, whoever graduated last in med school is still called doctor. But it’s the easiest solution to implement.

If LAPD (I live in LA) was told tomorrow to start enforcing law and were ensured they had the full endorsement of the DA and Mayor would it change anything? You can't pay union employees to NOT do their job for 6 years and then suddenly expect them to do their job. Work ethic deteriorates with time. Sure some are chomping at the bit to serve & protect but most are just workers at a job. You can't double their work load not to mention risk to their life after a 6 year hiatus.

The initiative to defund the police appears to have primarily served the interests of certain politicians seeking to capitalize on the opportunity for media attention and relevance. It seems that the true intention behind the move was not to address systemic issues or improve public safety, but rather to garner political visibility. This perception persists both in the past and present, suggesting that the underlying motives remain unchanged.
I remember at the time thinking defund the police was the stupidest thing I had ever heard. I posted my opinion on social media, and it was not met with much support. I can't believe people fell for this idiotic nonsense. Only an extremely privileged group would advocate for the removal of the police. There were people at the time saying defund the police doesn't mean defunding the police. And I argued what a stupid communications strategy that was and that some people would take it literally, which they did.
Recently in Texas a police chief said he knew there was a backlog of sexual assault cases from the past 30 years. He knew in 2017 yet did not assign any new case officers to fix the issue until 2023 when the media started to ask him questions. This same police chief went to the media crying about budget cuts in 2019 yet knew the department had an issue that it wasn’t addressing that affected the constituents in his community. Now how do you think this issue should be resolved because it is the case all over the country.

IMO BLM was an organisation that had many ppl in it and supporters who genuinely cared but was definitely hijacked from within. For example, how would ‘dismantling the nuclear family’ help the black community?! It wouldn’t!! I cannot believe that including this in its mission statement was brought by someone who had GOOD intentions, I just can’t. Fatherless homes are what cause much of the cycles of crime in all neighbourhoods!! They obviously wanted to see more hardships come their way!
Also, a recent guardian article reveals that the FBI literally paid a criminal to cause havoc during the BLM protests. Ofc this was to likely cause more damage and chaos,As a European I found this absolutely disgraceful that those in law enforcement would even think to do this but now I realise how effed up America really is.

Army Vet who has been in LE 24 years. Patrol, SWAT, Narco. The thing with LE training is:
In the military it's mostly training, training, training, until you get deployed to WORK. Then you rotate back for more training.
In LE its work, work, work and you try to squeeze in training without breaking the overtime budget. Or without pulling so may officers off of the street for training that there is nobody answering calls. LE is like being deployed 24/7/365 with no rotation back to the States for training. So you try to squeeze in "field training" between missions as best you can.
IMO, the "solution" is to staff PD's so that there is enough manpower to have an entire shift/platoon off the road for training for a quarter of the year. And you have quality training facilities and instructors, relevant training and a commitment to performance.
The fact of the matter is..for all the lip service the public gives to improving the caliber of American LE...pretty much nobody would be willing to pay the tax bill for what that would take to really work.

I've seen how in some cities 3-5 cop cars show up for one guy with a camera to check his id. Not all at once. Couple of officers arrive, get an idea of what's happening, don't report that the backup is clearly not needed or even call backup, then several more cars arrive and officers just stand there "securing the scene". )))

I saw a woman at a protest in London saying how she can’t let her son out because she thinks he will get killed by the police. There has been an average of five people a year killed by the police in the whole of the uk in the last five years. None were black and some of them were committing a terrorist act.
I never heard of Coleman Hughes and am so grateful that he’s out here, speaking truth! Watching him articulate his thoughts is like watching an artist.

@@manofculture584 "Bad" outcome depends on your perspective. These outcomes provide a good crisis to hammer through legislation that wouldn't normally pass. They also provide a conveniently gutted police that can be filled with new members, less loyal to the community and more willing to carry out controversial orders.

i watched a recent chinese tiktok where a beautiful chinese woman was giving a speech on rules of govern, and how society must have a 80/20 split of poor v.s rich, or you won;'t have a milatary class, or a service economy class ... and why you need to have crime so that the citizens feels that the government is needed. I assure you this is not the only country using that play book. most chinese elites went to ivy league schools in the united states and are in quiet a few secret socities in the west. pretty sure the CIA introduced crack cocaine to the black neighborhoods in the united states during the early 1980s.
the united states government spends 30$ billion dollars per day, it is estimated it costs $50 billion dollars per year to end homelessness in america. and BTW, we are about to send $60 billion dollars to ukraine and israel.

I noticed on the news here in NY, they would interview Black medical workers about the protests and would cut them off when they spoke against the extreme protests and cutting police. They see the end result in the emergency room of violent crime and know better than to defund police. They also didn’t report on all the NYPD who ended up in the hospital because they were not peaceful protests in a city with a lot of minority officers, there actually may be more minorities in the NYPD. The result of all that, is a lot of experienced officers handed in retirement papers en masse (including my friends in their mid 40s-50 years old) which wasn’t the original plan; and that’s never good to lose those with experience
the real question is why are people so vulnerable to these sorts of divisive narratives that seem like they're straight out of "1984"

Thanks to these 2 thoughtful young men for this talk. The little six y.o. black boy who is, this minute, hopeful, full of innocence and enthusiasm. Is he hungry, cared for, being well educated? Does he know he is valued? Loved? Disciplined by a mum and a dad? Or ten years from now is he toting a gun, peddling stolen sh$t and getting stoned. Could Geo. F. have been a better human in a different society? We need to pull the poor kids up onto stable ground. Books, nutritious food, musical instruments, field trips. Focus on the kids, all of whom are full of promise and potential, vim and vigor.

I saw another one with another white man he's lying on the floor and the cop is barking confusing orders at him and making him get up, put his hands up then down all sorts of things. In the end, the person got so afraid he just couldn't understand and he got shot several times from a trigger-happy cop 😢
Not long after Floyd a 17 years old white kid was shot by a cop who walked up on him while his truck was broke down and he was fixing it. Didn't even make the news.

That's by far, in my opinion, the worst use of force abuse of any of them. Without exception.
Essentially nothing happened to the cop that killed Daniel Shaver. Shaver's family, after years of lawsuits, I think got a few thousand dollars in compensation. Maybe not even that. There was certainly zero outcry or public protest, no demands for anyone to "say his nane" for a guy who died crying face down in his underwear, trying to figure out how to comply with the orders being shouted at him.
And because Shaver was white, he's anonymous and forgotten, not even a statistic, because who's counting how many white guys are shot by cops?
One effect of the whole defunding movement and the incessant policing of the police that came from 2020 that I still havent heard spoken about enough is the damage to the moral of the officers in these areas. I spoke to a few different officer friends during that period...from KC, Detroit, and Flint....and I can tell you...these guys were officers for 20+ years...no longer had any interest in policing...were just going to work to collect a paycheck and do as little as possible. As little as possible without getting fired. This lack of pride in your job is just not something you typically see in this line of work. These people suit up every day knowing they may have to take a bullet for our safety. It has been insane to me to see the lack of respect and quite frankly the fact it even became a movement gives me very little hope for our country in the future. Glad this topic still being discussed and looked back on and all...but I unfortunately don't see it making a difference.
Just "showing up to collect a paycheck" is exactly what I'd expect from a nonproducing government employee. They let a few crazies completely derail any dedication to their job, and then wonder why people lose respect for them.
@@strayedarticle2838 For one particular officer...he watched as one of his co-workers was put on leave without pay (fired in other words) for defending his own life during the line of duty in a cut and dry case of self defense in which a person shot at the police first. So we arent talking about a "few crazies" here. These movements have created pressures on officers from above that run much deeper than social media as you clearly think. As a former in house contractor for the federal government...i don't disagree at all with your outlook on government employees AT ALL...I seen it every day with my own two eyes. But if you actually believe that type of thing goes on in urban police departments like the ones I mentioned...you have lost your damn mind. These people are the exact opposite of those types of employees. They are working under a microscope now more than ever....to have anything other than the utmost respect for what these people do is one of the most egregious and ungreatful acts of disrespect I've seen. I've personally been a victim of harassment from a small town police department. I am by no means saying every one of them deserve some sort of immunity of any kind...or that there arent some bad apples. Just the mentality of a person that would want to do that sort of job is going to bring out a couple bad apples. This is why the pre employment psyc testing they do in most of these urban departments is so intensive. This situation really is full of nuance and for people to just say things like defund the police...it just shows the level of intelligence of these people with the loudest voices.
The other major problem with the presentation is the lack of statistical context. The plural of anecdote is not data. But, that is exactly what the amplification of incidents becomes in people's minds.

The answer was never to defund the police but rather to fund alternatives. Free drug rehab, teams of people trained to reach out to EDPs, youth employment programs etc. These are the things that actually reduce crime in the long run, but you can have all those things and have a police force as well.
Actually we could have both, but that would require a restructuring of priorities most politicians are unwilling to make. This country's military spending exceeds that of China, Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, UK, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Ukraine COMBINED (With no enemies on it borders and protected by the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans). We could repair our infrastructure and provide services to the homeless/mentally ill populations, but we would rather send money to corrupt faux democracies like Ukraine.

@armonjohnson ......so who's gonna go through all that just to consistently put themselves in harms way and be daily verbally abused and exposed to extremely traumatic events for 45k a year in most places? Standard police academy is already an associates degree equivalent and requires a set amount of continual learning hours per year to maintain certification, so you're expecting them to hold a bachelor's degree, but in a job where they work double the hours of a teacher, in infinitely more danger and worse conditions. But for slightly more pay than a teacher. If that's the case then you've still got the same problem, you're only attracting and retaining people that want the job for the power. In my state, one of the "backwards" to get hired you have to pass a psych evaluation, and depending on the agency a civil service test. Then you complete the academy which is about 5 months of classes 10 hours a day 5 days a week to the equivalent of an associates degree. You then have to complete 16 hours a year of continual learning to maintain your certification, that's on top of your annual weapons qualifications, your taser recertification, spray recertification, department training and meetings, and working 48-60 hours a week often on a rotating day and night schedule. Most people just hear the meme of "police have less training than a barber" and run with it without realizing how much actual training, continuing training, recertification, and work hours there are to it. Even as it stands right now there's not much time left for life let alone a family. And all of this on top of trying to find the time to decompress and deal with the PTSD you got from seeing fucked up shit today. The biggest contributing factor to police brutality isn't training, it's stress. Imagine you worked 50 hours of days last week, last day you worked you had a child abuse case where the dad gave the kid and the mom a black eye. You take him to jail and the next day you see him walking down the street with them. Four days pass and now you're working nights, day one you've got a multi vehicle crash with one fatality, blood all over the road and a baby had to get airlifted, an hour later you've got a guy that's been stabbed, you find the guy who did it holed up in a bathroom, you have to breach and take him not knowing he's armed or not but you take him unharmed after a struggle. After 2 hours of paperwork and booking you get a call about a bunch of kids blaring music at 1am you tell em to leave they call you a bunch of names and leave. Day two, you slept 6 hours between getting home showering eating a meal and finally getting to sleep. First call is a schizophrenic that's taken off his pants in a McDonalds and grabbed a female employees breast while touching himself. You get there and he fights, but you get him in the car. Local hospital won't take him but the one next county over will and you've gotta take him. So you spend the next hour driving this dude there as he's screams curses and fails around the back of the car while calling you everything under the sun and talking about how he's gonna SA your mother/wife/daughter. So you drop him off and head back hoping to have a calm night after that. But nope, it's another domestic, the same guy from last week, and this time the kid needs to go to the hospital for a fractered skull from a punch. Even the most well adjusted and trained person is gonna struggle to not go all out on that guy if he resists at all in that situation after that day.
It's not about ending slavery, it's about better slave owners!

As a young white man, I suffered to the point of death from excessive force and being dragged to court over false charges that ruined my whole life right after I graduated college in 2019. Pandemic hit and shut it down until 2021 and I had to take my case to trial with the public defender for an easy victory to prove the cops were lying about “me running them over on my property” when they had no right to be there on my security cameras in the first place just because the neighbor knew the chief and didn’t like my car lights shining toward him based on the way the street grid is laid out with one road and 12 houses on each side crammed in with each other.
Police brutality is not a black man’s problem but a wider threat to society’s collective and individual survival especially when the courts reward evil behaviors and actors like we have been seeing refusing to prosecute them. I WILL NEVER SPEAK TO A COP EVER AGAIN EVEN IF I SEE A CRIME HAPPENING IN FRONT OF ME UNLESS I HAVE MY OWN AUDIO AND VIDEO BECAUSE THEIR LIES ALMOST RUINED MY LIFE. Pennsylvania State Police being another case with my own elderly father accusing him of theft and trespassing without proof of any kind except an accusation and still roughed him up and cuffed him only to then have the judge and jury outright dismiss it before trial. This is not an imaginary or political problem is a basic human decency problem that needs to be dealt with otherwise we are going to keep seeing hatred and violence of all kinds to others especially those in power.
My theory is that a big part of the reason Americans seem to have more problems with their police using force more frequently is that Americans often don't like to do what they are told ("Dont move" & they move. "Show me your hands" & they try to argue and reach for something instead.) It's not necessarily a bad thing to value your independence and autonomy in general, but when dealing with the cops when you act belligerent and don't follow instructions you're much more likely to get force used against you. It's down to Police training and being perceived as a threat. Just cooperate and be polite and if you feel they overstepped the mark you'll still be alive and well and you can follow it up later.
@@realsatoshihashimoto Our cops just have poor training period and are never psychologically evaluated before they are put in the street to make sure they don’t have any anger management problems or anything and even if they do there’s no penalty against them because of the blue wall of silence.

@@manofculture584 All I heard, right from the beginning, was "reallocation" (while citing places with great results doing just that). But I can see why people would be aghast (as was I) at the phrase "defund the police", which conveyed that "reallocation" meaning not one whit.
On the other hand, I can fathom people over-reacting to stories of police getting away with murder, and wanting to be rid of the whole mess. I've been upset since 1983, just not over-reacting.

It's very clear to any thinking person that defunding police would more likely lead to worse policing outcomes. BUT it makes sense if you're a communist or socialist who believes in the value theory of labor. It's not a direct connection but eventually what that leads to is the idea that money is not a medium of exchange but a symbol of moral, social, political, etc. value. Therefore, defunding police isn't so much about fixing bad policing but punishing cops for the social evil they supposedly inflict on society (i.e. indiscriminately murdering black people).

I lived in Baltimore in a majority black area. The only people complaining about the extra patrolling were the dealers that had to move to the next neighborhood. They came right back when the patrolling moved.

how about "re-educate the police" ,"re-purpose the police", and "train the police". Heck, if that's the intended implementation the slogan should have been "Fund the police", that would have made much more sense

I’ve lost some friends and followers because I insisted defund the police was a bad idea and there would be consequences. But a lot of them they came back around lol.
My husband is White and the same thing happened to him. He was walking down the street when 6 cops came up on him and threw him to the ground with knee on the back for several minutes. They were chasing a suspect and thought it was him. When they realized they had the wrong guy, they released him and moved on. Only one apologized.
I was one of those who couldn’t stay quiet and called it all stupid. I only have a few friends from before most won’t speak to me to this day even though they KNOW how stupid it was now. I am not a fan of people anymore.

Except for Chauvin who murdered George Floyd, not much has changed. Hree in MINNEAPOLIS, police were NOT "de-funded" they got $180 MILLION-a bit MORE than the year before Floyd. In 2023, police all got $10,000 BONUS PAY to stay. NEW cops get "incentives" of $5,000 t $7,000. The ONLY reform we got in MINNEAPOLIS was creation of a Mental Health Crisis Response Team and POLICE WANTED THAT. Cops don't have the training to deal with mentally il people--MOST of whom are NOT violent

Training costs more money because you have to cover shifts while officers are in training. I’d argue they need bigger budgets for this reason
We need to hold the problematic culture accountable. What our poor cops go through on a daily basis is horrific.
