One of the best presentations on continental crust.

By studying records of shock waves created by earthquake, Andrija Mohorovocic (pronounced moh hoh ROH vuh chich) discovered in 1909 that there is a distinct "acoustic boundary" between the crust and mantle of the earth.

for Richard Carlson; i am wondering whether when a large meteorite hits earth if the seismic waves going through Earth causes new faults or breaks the tectonic plates on the opposite side of Earth? P waves travel through, so why shouldn't they be strong enough to break crust?
