    Super inspired watching you work and also how open and thoughtful that you present your work.

    Always love watching these videos of yours, I end up learning a lot.
    I wanted to know, since you are using both Gullfoss and Soothe, what is your current use for each one in terms of sound design process. Is one more for recovery or to tame some elements than the other? They seem pretty similar to each others to me but I wonder if they would see any specific use to improve sounds that would loose a lot of frequencies (like when doing voice design with pitch down elements)

    • @noahsitrin9823
      @noahsitrin9823  6 місяців тому +1

      I like to use Gullfoss as more broad stroke balancing. Then Soothe specifically for reducing spiky high resonances

  • @composerkirk
    @composerkirk Рік тому +1

    Super amazing and full of rich detail, thank you! Quick question, at around 5:24 or so, you play the rubber rain coat audio with the Melda Ratio MB, but it sounds like there's some EQ happening alongside it, since the highs are noticeably muted. In following along with my own audio and plugins, I can't quite replicate the sound at that point lol! Am I missing something as far as what else I can tweak in Melda? Thanks!

    • @noahsitrin9823
      @noahsitrin9823  Рік тому +2

      No other eq going on there, that's just MRatioMB on the noise/tonal setting w/ the noise ratio knob turned up, working its magic. That removes the noisy parts of the signal, which in this case is a lot of high-freq content. Kinda makes it sound garbled + muted, really depends on the source recording and how loud it is being driven into MRatioMB

    Hey man really great tutorial video - could you drop a link to your other videos where you explain the MVocoder band split trick you reference at 5:45 ? curious to look into that some more if you have more videos explaining it

    • @noahsitrin9823
      @noahsitrin9823  Рік тому +1

      I realized after the fact that I kinda glossed over that trick, I’ll make a more detailed vid on that one. It’s essentially how you can use plugins like vocoders or denoisers to split the signal into a bunch of different freq bands and then apply dynamics processing to the bands for for warbly liquid textures

    Hey Noah,
    Absolutely love your content and this of course sounds amazing! ❤
    I was curious to know the reason why you started with the source recordings that you did? All the nylon/paper stuff sounds incredible through whoosh and wondered if that was the reason?

    • @noahsitrin9823
      @noahsitrin9823  Рік тому +1

      Cop out answer: mostly because I’ve done this before with similar source and gotten good results. Just need something noisy + textural

    • @noahsitrin9823
      @noahsitrin9823  Рік тому +1

      Oh make sure you have the sidechain hooked up to inputs 1+2 as well. If you’re using reaper, hit that “2/4 in 2 out” button in the upper right of the plugin window to open the routing matrix, then hook your main inputs (1+2) to the sidechain channels (3+4 I think)

    Hi ! what is the classic trick haha that you used with saturn for the impact layer 9 (the one to get more lower frequencies)

  • @nitroanilinmusic
    @nitroanilinmusic Рік тому

    What does that Whoosh plugin do? I'm guessing it's doing some clever envelope+reverb+eq on the source material but it sounds super cool

    • @noahsitrin9823
      @noahsitrin9823  Рік тому

      Yeah it’s a Doppler, so it does amplitude+pitch modulation like Traveler or Waves Doppler. The cool thing about whoosh is it also takes your 4 input files, granulizes them, and then blends between them before applying the Doppler

    Are you just using the default stretch without preserving pitch in Reaper? If so, have you done any experimentation with the different algorithms?

    • @noahsitrin9823

      Yeah I use varispeed stretch (not preserving pitch) 90% of the time, it is artifact free. The other modes can be cool if I want that artifacty sound, but that’s not too often

    What's the reasoning behind using multiple limiters on one effect?

    • @noahsitrin9823
      @noahsitrin9823  6 місяців тому +1

      I usually build the FX chains 1 step at a time. So I add what I feel it needs at each step. Pro-L would be to make it louder, add punch, or control the peak level depending how it’s set

    • @BmoreGaming
      @BmoreGaming 6 місяців тому

      @@noahsitrin9823 Yeah, I was more so curious why you couldn't do this at the end of an FX chain instead of having one after say 3 or 4 effects on one audio clip and then another one at the end. But I'm guessing it's more so for when you're looking for that extra punch, as you were saying. I'm not bashing or anything, I think it all sounded great! Was just legitimately curious.
