found this video today. fixed an engine light I've had on my truck for the last 3 years. thanks
What code were u getting?
By the way, best how-to videos on the internet, bar none! You've saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Well done!
Guys your really doing good. Keep working guys . We will always be with you guys.
+Arun Mohan Thank you very much! We appreciate your support.
"Guys"...
It's nice how all these UA-cam videos don't show real life scenarios. Chevy doesn't use junk hose clamps like that. You've already replaced the vent solenoid. Why not show what it really takes to get one of these off
Junk hose clamp?? Friend I will take those old fashion ones any day. Who Ever came up with the ones that come on it needs to be kicked in the nutsac. HARD. I’m currently holding it in my hand and there is no way I will get this hose off without destroying it.
You bring a valid point. These hoses are pre/heat shrunk onto the part in the factory. There are no clamps to simply unscrew.
Yessir you are correct.
EXACTLY! I just got F@#$%%d because of it
Just an FYI - the 2008 (and on?) has the exact same looking solenoid, but it's in front of the fuel tank along the left rail.
Yep, found it on the left side toward the front of the tank on mine. One other point: My local parts store here in Canada indicated there are two different types of solenoid, so just to be sure I took a pic of the one on my truck and will compare with what they have so I get the right one.
Could you take a pic of where you are talking about
Thank you bruh
Always the best videos and this dude Andy chill af too haha
I've had an evap light for a few months. Ignored it. Then last week I started having a hard time filling it up. Kept stopping. I pulled this out and it filled fine. Hoping that when I put a new one in it clears the light
gracias por compartir video, saludos desde chiapas mexico
You guys have the best videos. Thanks for all the help!
make me a video on replacing upper control arms on a 99 jimmy and ill buy my parts from you. great videos
2007 silverado 1500 3 door, there is a clip infront of the tank closer to the front of the truck. Other than that video is right on.
Dude this is helpful but my hoses don't have those hose clamps they're just on there and they're extremely tight and won't come off.
And I'm afraid if I keep pulling I'm going to break the line.

Mine didn't have clamps either. Factory sealed no doubt! I cut the hoses off and replaced the part with an extra bit of hose on one side and I used 3 clamps. Problem solved. This part is EPA b.s. anyhow.
@@1AAuto THANKS 1A!!!
+Chandlers Light Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
That's easier than I thought it would be.
This was not the stock hose setup for me make sure you look at the part on your truck and watch slme other videos before trying this
Thank you! HD video! Looks really good and great explanation! 👍
Thank you for the great reply! +Robert Fonseca
Will the same part work for my 2007 ext cab Silverado
I CAN DO IT! :) Easy. Thank you for the video.
Great video. So I went to your site put in 2011 Chevrolet Silverado and searched on EVAP Solenoid.............Wait for it "No Results"
+Randall P. Shaffer Thanks for the feedback! We try to produce as many installation videos as possible to help our customers. In some cases, we do not carry the part.
I have a check engine light notification from the EVAP system (gas cap is on and snug, so that's not the problem). I'm trying to diagnose whether it's the solenoid, canister, or something else. Any references for diagnosing the specific component of the EVAP system that needs replacing? Fingers crossed that the problem is the solenoid because this looks like a straightforward repair!
Did you ever find out what the problem was I’m having the same problem now
Got the same problem myself on a 2009
What was the problem?
I've had the same problem on my 09 too, been the same for 3 years now. Weak start when I crank it up after I fill it up with gas.
@@JP-ed3sz ACDelco GM Original Equipment 214-1680 Vapor Canister Purge Valve
Driver side head of engine. That will fix weak start after fill up
Thank you sir! Exactly what I was looking for.

After replacing evap solenoid should auto be driven for a length of time before taking for smog check ? If so how many ?
After the parts in just clear the code & it should be just fine unless other codes pop up & it was something else causing the code to come on like a broken evap line or loose hoses to the evap canister or loose clamps !
Man they really hampered the process up on the new ones. I have to replace mine already on my 5 year old truck.
How much extra hose is there? If I cut the old canister free, will there be enough to use ring clamps to attach the new one like they did?
Do you need that harness? Can't you just plug the factory plug straight into the new solenoid?
The part I bought has a long plastic corrugated tube with what it looks like a filter on the end. Where does the end goes? Thanks in advance.
So mine is in the front of the gas tank. Not the back like your video shows
I have a 2019 Silverado with the P0498 error code. I can't seem to find the part anywhere for my truck. Your site doesn't seem to have the part that you replaced in this video let alone one for a 2019. Once I do find the part, is the process similar for a 2019 even though it's a new body style?
thank you for sharing
Another great video thx!
I got a quesif u can anzwer me i got my engine light for my 007 silverado v8 5.3 flex and my vent valve solenoid does not have the left tube is it the same part i need to replace its in the same location?
Is the evap solenoid the main reason to make engine light turn on?
question will the check engine light go out on its own or should it go out right away or does it need to be cancelled by scanner?
Usually they have too be cleared with a scanner but sometimes the truck relearns itself overtime but if not may have too plug a scanner into it and erase the code
Is this a P0446 code ?
What was that big rubber thing alittle smaller than a 2liter bottle of soda smothered with Vaseline in the back round?
Would this part be the same for a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 8 cylinder?
How do you know if it was or bad?
How can the old one can be tested
Would this also be considered “fuel tank vacuum relief valve”?
Where is the link to this part? I click some of your links but it takes me nowhere
My vent valve is extremely hot to the touch, even with the car off. Is this normal??
Great video thanks for sharing

Hello, it is possible to know the part number of this piece
Yeah go to autozone/o rielly and have them do a diagnostic.
It's called a backdoor thrusting/rear opening splitter
Is there a video of this specifically for the 1996 to 1998 GM pickup tucks?
So easy even a MB technician can do it
Is this the same as thing on a 2012 3500 HD 6.0 gas?
I have 2011 Silverado LT I don’t see this part under my truck . Could it be somewhere else? Thank you.
Greg where u able to find the solenoid under the truck?
I ready change the canister in the front my car I have de code p0455 but the check engine still there this can be the last thing I think if this dont fix my car Idk what I can do
i have a 2010 Silverado 1500LT 4.8 4x4, and i have no clue where mine is, i checked where it shows in the video and also around the tank and nothing, any clues where it might be located?
*update* i seen other comments saying it might be infront of the tank on the left, hopefully its there.
I have an 03 v6 silverado with an evap emission circuit message on auto scanner.. would this be considered the same thing?
+Ray Medina j Code P0446, otherwise known as Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) Vent Control Circuit Malfunction, indicates that your car's computer has detected (or believes it has detected) a problem with the function of the EVAP system vent valve.
why does the title say"Replace EVAP Solenoid" but the video is for replacing the "canister vent valve"
+Hammer757 Thanks for the feedback!
@@1AAuto Sorry, I might have came off a little course. I was just frustrated after a few hours of troubleshooting this problem. Overall, you videos are well thought out and helpful.
+Hammer757 Thank you for the feedback and for continuing to watch!
Is there an easier way to get the hoses off they r really tight on my 08 chevy
I was able to get the rubber seal side loosened but the collapsible straw piece won't budge
Do you guys carry the hose that connects to the solenoid?

Like how when u go to there website the part isn't there
Should i replace canister too ?
My top hose is missing does anyone know where to find the other end to that hose??
Question: My local mechanic scanned my truck and told me that I need to replace my EVAP solenoid. Upon my research, it looks like there may be 2 solenoids? One on the frame rail near the fuel tank and another in the engine bay? How do I know which one to replace?
Did you figure out?
My mechanic told me I needed purge valve. Watched video by A1 and I replaced the purge valve on the engine. Still had engine light on. Husband used a scanner and it said P0449, that's the rear evap solenoid. I'll be replacing that next.
How come I can not find the replacement part anywhere
what size hose clamps are those?
What if there are no clamps? How do I get it off?
What is the hoses call? I need to get a new one
My fuel tank is collapsing what causes that?
Where is the filter that comes with that part?
How do I replace new connector line
What the part number for the solenoid
When I go to fill up I must cycle they pump 30 times. This has to be it.
Me too! The pump cuts off after just a few seconds
Did y'all figure out what is the parts I need to replace? Same problem I got
that could be the fuel pump driven modual it determins how the fuel pump works eather too high of pre ssure or too low easy fix
How do i know if its broken ?
Might be stupid question can this make your vehicle run lean??
I'm trying to figure out too. I think the original 2 port with a hose to the "remote filter" as shown here sends fumes out next to the driver's side catalytic converter. I just switched to the single port and left the hose from the canister unattached (hopefully those fumes stay away from O2 sensors now) .. they say the single port is self venting and the remote filter the old hose led to is irrelevant now. I'm stump on this P1174 fuel imbalance code from the oxygen sensors... But this remote filter sends fumes out right by the top O2 sensor ... I hope this solves my lean fuel problem also... respond later and that will remind me to update the results.
Shouldve cleaned the filter while you had it out. Alot of times thats all it is making the engine light come on anyway.
Jake Brumfield how do I clean the filter before I potentially waste money on a new solenoid valve ? Also how do you get the extreme stock heat shrink tube off the valve ?
@@ethanwalton4683 bump
man thats so easy, and ijust pay $202 for that at the mechanic shop
What where the symptoms your truck had ?
Why wouldn’t you open the canister and check the filter?
Great video, is that the part I need to replace if my 13 Silverado keeps clicking every time I fuel? And should I replace the evap canister as well? If so can you make a video of that? Tia
sernani99 I’m going to throw this out there... on my 5.3 it was clicking but it was clicking at the engine. It was the lifter... just a headsup
@@Justwhatever42 Pretty sure they meant that the pump nozzle keeps clicking off while they're adding fuel, but I could be wrong...
Why does the new solenoid need an additional wire? Seems like one more connection for moisture, etc., to get in.
True but just use some dielectric grease on both connecters & that should help seal out the moisture plus it will come apart easier the next time if & when needed ! My 09 just had a check engine light come on today after I ran it through the car wash with the undercarriage spray so hoping that had something to do it ! It sent a PO 446 code when I checked it with my scanner so I am going to check the gas cap first then the lines to make sure they are tight & if I don't find the issue with those I guess it's time for this lol . I had a 03 Ram pickup that did the same thing but I found that the original hose clamp was junk & replaced it with a stainless hose clamp & problem solved lol so I am hoping it's something simple .
Pete what was the problem. I just got a PO446 today
Ok so this part is giving me fits. Every search I do directs me the part under the hood. Ive crawled under my truck. It looks like that. But every part website online, gms site , acdelco, everyone says that is not my part. Im just getting sick of the whole thing. What am I missing here? Does Chevy not make a part to replace their own part anymore?
What hoses are those? Please!!
Where can I get the wire from? I just need that part
+Jo Lugo Thanks for watching! We do not carry just the wire by itself, but we do offer it in this kit: www.1aauto.com/chevrolet-gmc-cadillac-vapor-canister-vent-valve-dorman-911-019/i/1aemx00149/1839627/2010
mine isn't there on my 09 sierra
+Brandon Kloha This repair is How to Replace EVAP Solenoid 07-13 Chevy Silverado
this video was good, however you neglected to show the final part. The Vapor Filter????
Hi John, where is the vapor filter. I put the canister and the solenoid on. As well as the harness. I do have an extra part that was sent that I'm not sure where it goes? As far as I'll know I've fixed the problem. The check engine light went off.
I guess this is next. Did the part under the hood already...
+noahkb80 Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
What is the purpose of the small harness that comes with it?
+Ben Lauer Thanks for checking us out! This will be an adapter for the new valve to connect to the vehicles wiring harness. Some of the vehicles this fits has a different pin type connection and this enables them to be used with the new solenoid.
@@1AAuto yes it works great.
Do I need to remove the gas tank. Start from the beginning, poor guide for a novice
Can this be why my truck has been smelling a lot like gas lately?
Hose clamps aren’t factory. This didn’t help at all
I got a Chevy Silverado 2010 2500HD 4x4 I got two hoes what will not come off ?, Can I put in new hoes for Vent valve small exhaust
Piece number???
Didn't even put it on sll the way that annoyed me . The hose goes all the way not part
I replaced this part but it didnt fix my problem
+SlowSilvyJimmy We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
@@1AAuto but do you have any idea of what can cause my gas tank to always have pressure and keeps stopping the fuel pump from filling up? Yes i checked the check engine light and it was a code for the EVAP Solenoid, i replaced it and it actually made the gas tank build more pressure and not fix my problem
@@ThemcpeMaster53 pretty common for the charcoal canister by the solenoid to break down and send charcoal in your evap lines I’d disconnect the lines going to the canister and see if they’re filled with charcoal
Whoever got the hoses off has superhuman strength. It’s impossible to get them off
What was your solution?
Please do this for a 2008 Honda Accord!! I would volunteer my car lol.. my Accord rattles for a few on cold starts
