Thanks Dashy and Dad for your reaction. I believe Angelina did a remarkable job conveying the emotions for her part of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi. It was if Angelina was crying for Narges, her twin children and for all the women in Iran. Here is the background to the tribute. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges was, at the time of this tribute, on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". "Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.
This performance is epic and will be a nexus point in musical history. With this performance Ms. Jordan has solidify her position in the halls of all the great musical legends of musical history. Rb
To me this is the embodiment of Divine Grace in sound. My only analogy, would be, to the likes of Maria Callas, The stature, the elegance, the enrapturing beauty. We all are blessed with the privilege of witnessing this history of Ms. Jordan's transformative artistry. Rb
Delightful, amazing, the finest version of Unchained Melody that has ever been performed in my lifetime, and this song has been recorded by over 1000 of the finest vocalists in the world.
Welcome back with the princess and thanks for the beautiful reaction. The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony. This performance of hers is charming and wonderfully intimate, she made this legendary song perfectly suited for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi's story! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", probably the only singer who at only 17 years old has already sung on 2 different occasions at the celebrations of Nobel Prizes.💛🧡❤
Really nice reaction to Angelina's outstanding performance with KORK orchestra! Andy already gave you the whole context in which Angelina chose this song in particular and how she approached the performance, in such a delicate, caring and empathic way to honour Narges and her children and husband who were present. I also thought the introduction was very weird! They should have said she came home to Oslo specially for this performance and also mentioned her Iranian heritage! But well, anyway, this is the second time she sang at a Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and both times she did amazing ♥
Thanks so much for your reactions to this very special performance... Angelina performed with KORK twice back in the old days when she was 10 years old. Her performances of "Summertime" and "Back to Black" were two of her best... The first time I ever heard Angelina, she was singing “Unchained Melody”. She was 9 years old and I was instantly down the rabbit hole… I’ve been listening to “Unchained Melody” since 1955. I heard Harry Belafonte sing it at the Oscars. Then many others before Bobby Hatfield's incredible rendition in 1965... Later, of course, there was Maurice Jarre’s beautiful orchestral arrangement in “Ghost”….. In the movie “Unchained ”, a prisoner is longing to be his wife. Todd Duncan sings the song from a prison cell he shares the lead character and other inmates... But now, this is the real deal. A real life tragedy. It’s as if this song was written for this moment and Angelina to come along. Angelina is singing for the Nobel Peace Prize laureate. A women’s rights activist who is sitting in an Iranian prison cell facing 31 years of sentences. She hasn’t seen her family in 9 years. And, they’re sitting there in front of Angelina as she sings... Angelina presents this song delicately, tenderly and with such reverence to Narges and her family. A more emotional and somewhat different presentation than she’s done in her past performances. She could have easily sung the song with more power or in a more upbeat fashion similar to Bobby Hatfield. But, she was delivering a message of loss and longing to loved ones. This was a tribute to Narges Mohammedi. As such, it wasn’t your typical concert performance... As she so often does, Angelina reached back in time with her arrangement and touched the original meaning and emotion of the song… It was such a special moment…
Angelina Jordan's decision to interpret the song in this way is majestic, because Angelina sacrificed what no one would have done, many of her vocal virtues and her prodigious technique, to give a message of love, hope, faith, for a woman who has sacrificed her family, her physical health and her life for a noble and just cause, for equality and the rights of women and children in Iran, sentenced to 10 years in prison and the firmness of not recanting, her children present at the ceremony They received the award, the song is a message from a desperate mother to her children present in the unique and unmatched voice of Angelina Jordan, it was a message of love

Great reaction guys Angelina and her family moved to Los Angeles in 2018 when she was 12. She signed with Republic Records 2 years later at 14. Republic is one of the biggest record companies in the world. Other Republic artists include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Drake, Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, John Legend. Republic also built Angelina her own studio.
Angelina has been living full-time in Los Angeles since about age 12 - but travels to Norway and other countries for concerts and events. Republic Records has outfitted a studio just for her use so she can write songs and interact with others in the music industry at her own pace. It was Angelina's choice to move to LA so that she could further her career.
The recipient for this year's award was Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian dissident, now in an Iranian prison for her outspoken messages and activism for women's rights. Narges' two twin children spoke on her behalf at this event prior to Angelina's singing. They are Angelina's age and haven't seen their mother in years. She was able to speak with both before her performance. I'm sure this performance was a very poignant moment for Angelina--one quarter Iranian herself, and whose grandmother Mery is full Iranian. The national orchestra of Norway, KORK, has done numerous concerts with their native daughter, the Nobel Peace Prize Tribute the most recent. I have learned more about Norway over the past two years, since discovering Angelina, than I knew over the past 80 years prior. A gorgeous country, much like their daughter. We are blessed that we are now graced with her residence. I pray we will honor that blessing.
Dashy & Dad, Angelina looks like a beautiful Angel wearing a White evening dress with diamonds in her hair, floating on a cloud and her voice piercing the emotional hearts in the audience. The Peace Prize organizer knew of Angelina's compassion to bring awareness to children and women's human rights around the world.
Hi Dashy & Dad .. Angelinas Dream at a young age was to sing at the Nobel Piece Prize .. and she did it twice .. at age 8 and last Year at age 17 .. Angelina is the first Artist who was invited twice to perform on the Event .. and you may have noticed that Angelina at age 10 recorded "Back to Black" on the same Stage .. and also the Ceremony was Broadcasted and watched by over 300 Million People .. others will tell you the Backstory of Narged Mohammedi ..
Agree was a kind of strange saying that being she was born in Oslo , but she did say Angelina came (traveled) all the way from Los Angeles (to perform), not that she was from there. I knew someone would take issue with that and you were the first one I had heard say it. She should have given Oslo as her birth place and that she now lives there in Los Angeles, oh well !!
Angelina has been signed with Republic Records-UMG the largest recording company in the world since she was 14. It is not a Norwegian company it has separate world headquarters in Hilversum The Netherlands and Santa Monica California.Thx for reacting to AJ.

@@103mrg As Republic Records is one of a number of subsiduries of UMG like any conglomerate, saying that Angelina is signed by the largest recording company in the world is completely true. You seem to have appointed yourself as some kind of UA-cam police but I think that you need to start fact checking yourself. Bye.
Context is everything here. Narges Mohammadi is in prison in Iran for working for women's rights in Iran. The person who just introduced Angelina had only then finished interviewing the two 17 year old children of Narges who are accepting the award on her behalf. In this performance, Angelina takes on the persona of Narges, singing directly to her children. The subdued approach was charged with melancholy and longing. No doubt Angelina's intention. At the end you can notice her looking stage right toward where the children are sitting and putting her hand over her heart. Grandma Mery is Iranian so no doubt this performance holds special meaning for both. The song Unchained Melody is originally from a movie about a man in prison longing for his loved ones. I believe this is why Angelina chose it. She has a long history with this song. When she was interviewed on Norwegian tv some ten years ago about her book "Between to Hearts" which is the story of why she sings barefoot, she chose to sing Unchained Melody during that appearance. Angelina chooses and sings songs in her own way to convey the emotional context of what the song means to her, often choosing a unique approach making little or no attempt at splashy presentations. Thus emotive approach captivates and endears her to fans.
@@DashyAndDadReactsI smiled as I read this comment and couldn’t help but think that, unknowingly, by reacting to this performance, that’s exactly what you did..and i fir one am proud of you for that 🙏 peace.
She moved from Oslo, Norway where she was born to LA 6 years ago, when she was 12. This was a restrained, tender & emotional performance because she is singing to the twin 17 yo children of Narges Mohammadi accepting the award for her because she is in prison in Iran as a civil rights advocate for women. Her children live in exile in France & haven't seen their mother in over 9 years. So this song about a wrongfully imprisoned man longing to see his family is most appropriate for this sad occasion.
The parallels to Ms. Callas are uncanny. However in Ms. Jordan's case she is the true unicorn. No one in the musical world that has graced this world, has effected so many and compelled them to be better to themselves and others, just by the force of being. A truly historical moment in musical history. Rb
Indeed Angelina is from Norway but live in Los Angeles since she was 12 .. and btw .. Republic Records isn't a Norwegin Lable .. RR is also based in L.A. .. when you have a look on the Republic Records Homepage you will see Angelina is in company with some impressive Artists .. Republic Records is a Branch of UMG - Universal Music Group -
Angelina has been living in LA since she was 14, she will be 18 on the 10th January 2024. She is signed to Republic Records and that is one of the reasons she moved to LA.
Angelina isn't in Los Angeles for the weather or the beaches. LA is, quite literally, the capital of the music recording industry. She signed with Republic Records a few years ago (at age 14), recording primarily in their LA studio. You may know of Republic Records, whose stable of artists ranges from Stevie Wonder to Taylor Swift. It's no surprise that Angelina and her family moved to LA (when she was 12) to allow Angelina to reach the top of the music industry (and, not coincidentally, work with the top musicians in the world). Yes, everyone in the world knows who Taylor Swift is, but I bet every music industry professional in LA knows who Angelina Jordan is (even if she hasn't won her first Grammy yet). There's simply nowhere in Europe (and especially not in Norway) where Angelina could reach her musical potential. Keep up the reactions to Angelina!
The Norwegian recording & production facilities and support talent were not considered adequate for Angelina's anticipated level of fame. The move to LA was meant to provide a more comprehensive foundation. She is working with a Norwegian production company (Stargate), but they headquartered in LA long before AJ did. Their move was requested & faciliatated by a trio of established artists already working with them: Rihanna, Beyonce and Sam Smith.
They got the "International Star" part right. The understated performance fitting since the woman the tribute is for is suffering a hunger strike and who knows what atrocities in an Iranian prison for campaigning for women's rights.
When Angie was 12 years old, and it was apparent she was a world-class performer, she and her family found that Norway could no longer grow her talents. After a long search, they decided they should move to Los Angeles. She, her mother and sister, grandmother and uncle sold everything they had and moved to L.A. when she was 12-1/2. Her new guitarist there was Ivan Mendez, and that lasted about a year. One of her first recordings was done on a beach in Venice, California. In L.A. she performed in America's Got Talent, The Champions, a special version for previous winners and contestants, when she was almost 14. 8 months later she signed a beneficial contract with Universal Records. They assigned her to Rob Christie, a two-time Grammy winner, and Director of their L.A. studio, to mentor her and help direct her career. He has played the piano for her in many of her recent recordings, some done in his own home studio. Now, however, Republic has built Angie her own studio! Angelina graduated from High School in 2023 and turned 18 years old this month. Not bad. She did appear and drove a Porsche in a recent music-video, but I don't know if it was hers.
@@js33412 There was some BTS footage on TT when the video was filmed. Also, no one drives a stick-shift in the city with their left arm draped over the door (right hand to change gears; left to hold the steering wheel).
The impact of " I'll be coming home, wait for me", had to be emotional for Narges' kids. This, if you don't know to my knowledge, Angelina is the only person to perform at the Nobel twice under the age of 18...
good point about Angelina holding back.... sorta like a surgeon using a scalpel with due care and medical precision and not like Archie choppin brisket down at the ol'butcher shop

Thankies for the info
@@DashyAndDadReactsI smiled as I read this comment and couldn’t help but think that, unknowingly, by reacting to this performance, that’s exactly what you did..and i fir one am proud of you for that 🙏 peace.
Aww Thankies @@kevingood4644
She moved from Oslo, Norway where she was born to LA 6 years ago, when she was 12. This was a restrained, tender & emotional performance because she is singing to the twin 17 yo children of Narges Mohammadi accepting the award for her because she is in prison in Iran as a civil rights advocate for women. Her children live in exile in France & haven't seen their mother in over 9 years. So this song about a wrongfully imprisoned man longing to see his family is most appropriate for this sad occasion.
Indeed 🤗🥰
The parallels to Ms. Callas are uncanny. However in Ms. Jordan's case she is the true unicorn. No one in the musical world that has graced this world, has effected so many and compelled them to be better to themselves and others, just by the force of being. A truly historical moment in musical history. Rb

Hi Gwen, actually she moved there at age 12 (that's when she did all the wonderful covers with Ivan Mendez) prior to AGT Champions.

She actually moved to LA when she was 12, so 6 years ago.
Even before she moved at 12 she and her family had traveled back and forth through the years.
🌟
Awesome 🤩 Thankies 🥰
With this song she became the youngest to sing twice at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration.

Amazing 🤩
They got the "International Star" part right. The understated performance fitting since the woman the tribute is for is suffering a hunger strike and who knows what atrocities in an Iranian prison for campaigning for women's rights.

AJ now lives in West Hollywood in Los Angeles, where the record company Republic Records has built a separate music studio for her. She states; "I feel incredibly lucky to have been signed by one of the biggest record companies in the world. I have my own studio where I make my own music. There will also be a lot of concerts in the future because I have released an EP. I will soon go on a world tour and play my songs, (This was stated to TV2 in Norway on Aug. 21, 2023) © Larry D. ^^^^^Great reaction to the greatest version of Unchained Melody that has ever been performed in its existence since it was written in 1955 and performed by more than 1000 great vocalists.
Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023
This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 100 times coming from Oslo, Norway. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. © Larry D. Not bad. She did appear and drove a Porsche in a recent music-video, but I don't know if it was hers.
js She wasn't driving in that video!
That's one way to give Rob Christie some peace and quiet Lol .

A musical phenomenon that transcends genres and boundaries. Angelina Jordan is a singer with a unique and captivating voice that defies comparison. She has the ability to convey deep emotions and soulful expressions through her music, drawing inspiration from the greatest vocalists that have ever lived. She is not just a talented performer, but a musical phenomenon that transcends genres and boundaries. AJ just turned 18 on Jan. 10, 2024, one can only imagine what is in the future, and we know it will be phenomenal after experiencing her version of Unchained Melody from Oslo, Norway with the KORK Orchestra for the Nobel Peace Prize recipient this last December.
