Shiragiku wasn't mean to be antagonist/evil by nature, she's just happened to be different, have sixth sense, hardly to make a friend while she never want to be alone. Only those damn ritual make her soul corrupted, even she's not all that evil at the endings
In this cage.. Such an emotional song. It's probably one of my favorite fatal frame ending songs, and maiden of blackwater is my 2nd favorite fatal frame game in the series, I don't know why everyone hates it... Though the last drop was kind of hard.... And I don't know why ayane is in the game but this game was still good, hoping to play the others and maybe fatal frame spirit camera..
It's worth noting that a lot of the endings were subject to meddling. For instance, Ren was supposed to die in multiple endings; Of course, a game where the winning option is suicide is probably too dark.
+burnout02urza Isn't it dark already? I assume the 18 rating is due to the suicidal attitude of most of the characters. We've got currently suicidal people and a girl who's currently doing better but previously attempted suicide, plus a girl who's got a nihilistic outlook on life since her powers let her see people's secrets(and we all know knowing human thoughts can be unpleasant) and her mother left her when she was a kid, to go have an incestuous ritual marriage with her dead uncle, who may or may not be the father, going by the whole Shadowborn thing. The game is plenty dark so it should've been fine to have a couple of shit endings where Ren dies. I went into Shiragiku's 'happy' ending thinking he'd just be in the box with her.
The Dark themes are still there. Yuri clearly killed herself in the Embrace Ending Mayu also die in the Yomi no Ko Ending Also, Nintendo hasn't had any problem with Fatal Frame Endings in the past. One of the new endings in Deep Crimson Butterfly is bascally "And everybody died".
"Of course, a game where the winning option is suicide is probably too dark." Silent Hill 2 says hello.. And yes, that's seen as one of the better endings.
fatal frame as a series has something that horror games now doesn't even try to have. the story. most of the horror games(except resident evil and evil within of i know of) are just a compilation of meaningless jumpscares. but fatal frame is more than making you crap your pants, it also shows the depth of all the characters. the lore of how everything came to be. and most importantly, why the evil we are fighting is not evil by nature(you get a pass if your big bad is satan) but a victim of circumstances. it's also the series where the ending isn't a "you win". it's a "you don't lose...much".
A document you find in the game states that while most of the sealed maidens can only last so long before the agony in their hearts and the black water kill and dissolve them, the most powerful psychics can become "immortal flowers" where they sleep in the box, unaging and immortal, for eternity. Ghost marriages were meant to make all the maidens last longer because they'd have a companion to share their pain with. Miku was extremely powerful and was ghost married to Mafuyu so she hasn't aged a day since she left 3 year old Miu behind.
@@MaxBraver555 She was 17 in FF1, 19 in FF3, 23/24 when she left Miu (the game outright says Miu was 3 when Miku left), and is 37 in FF5 from what we know of in-game dates and official documents. I think her flawless skin, lack of wrinkles, and trim body fit with her still being the physical age of 23/24 she was when she left to go to the mountain. Her surviving in a box of black water asleep for 14 years with no food or drinkable water also only makes sense if she became an immortal flower. She definitely doesn't look nearly 40.
Okay im having a really ahrd time with inside the box ending, she just wont stop fighting me... I choose her and i enter the room and then she just keeps fighting me even if i do nothing.
today,in my first play in the remastered version,i got some kind of bad ending,Yuri died while Hisoka tried to stop her from falling into the water with Ouse, but Miku stayed with Miu,and Ren,Hisoka and Rui are alright i guess, sucks that Yuri died though...
for your answer if you wear the cage ring doesn’t matter when you get the good or bad ending it will play the tsukiko song, only you remove the cage ring it will play another song
Man, somehow I got Yuri bad ending, I just too curious to touch everything in this game. I don't know if Ren embracing Ose is good ending, but I guess it's good enough. Good thing that I still get Miu a good ending.
It doesn't make sense why dr asou's spirit couldn't go with her or did she refuse to pull him into the darkness with her? He was dead, going to the other side with her seemed right, not her saying goodbye.
While it's never outright stated, it's heavily suggested that Ren is Asou's reincarnation, not just his descendant. That's why Ren could find Shiragiku's token, the reason everyone on that mountain recognized him as Asou Kunihiko, why he could remember events from Asou's life, and why he turned into Asou during the ghost marriage ceremony. Because it's the same soul Ren would have to die and give up the remainder of this life and any others he would have lived for his soul to stay with either Ouse or Shiragiku. But in the end both of them truly loved him and didn't want him to give up those precious lives like they had to.
No because there would never have been the remake of the 2 and I would have never discovered this fantastic series (maybe there would have been one but I would not have had because at that time I did not have a playstation) or it would have been better if Nintendo would have left the rights to sony and microsoft to use the license :)

women with the sixth sense used to be sacrificed in them so that 'hell' (the netherworld, whatever word you prefer) wouldn't reach the earth. that black water that came out the box is 'hell'.
It's impossible to know until a new game is released and have a reference to this one. Fatal Frame 1 and 2 cannon endings were unknown until Fatal Frame 3 was released.
Probably the best ending for each character is the canon ending. Am not sure which ending for ren is canon as there are four of them. I am certain Yuri’s good ending is canon as Yuri finally realizes she is not alone and this ending is also the most satisfactory, I am a bit mixed though on weather or not Miu’s bad ending is canon as it could be a possibility, although I don’t think they would canonically kill Miku of like that.
