why do they act like you never have to wash it? what if it gets dirty, is it not washable?

You of course have to wash it when it is dirty but you don't need to re-apply a DWR or Durable water repellant as it is always waterproof.

Hi Leroy, that is not supposed to happen. I'd give Helly Hansen a call and see what they say as it should be waterproof after unlimited washes.
