You got this right. Base Sonic wouldn't be able to win against Mephiles. Even the entire Team Dark with Shadow couldn't truly defeat it. And let's remember that in '06 Shadow was way stronger than Sonic.
Very true! Mephilis was a great villian in the series, including in strength. I think Sonic Frontiers Sonic would stand a chance, but that's because he enhanced his arsenal of moves since 06.

Frontiers Sonic would decimate Mephilis, not even close, I think even Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic would win (without Caliburn), People underestimate Sonic and over-estimate Mephilis.
I don't think Shadow has ever been way stronger than Sonic in any of the games.

Kinda fitting, as Sonic never actually fought Mephiles. My only complaint is that you didn't use Jason Griffith for Sonic's audio.

Frontiers Sonic slams Mephiles,and those saying he has a chance against Mephiles are just down right wrong.Sonic doesnt stay at the same strength as he was in a previous Game and gets stronger,and with the time that passes between O6 and Frontiers,Sonic in base form just dogwalks Mephiles with zero difficulty.

He only overpowered Team Dark using amped version of Chaos emeralds
Also the fact that majority of his fights his under his shadow when fighting Shadow
Meph is part sun god when whole he's able to destroy timelines easily and can't truly be defeated unless he's killed while whole and in all timelines past present and future we know this since shadow beat him but couldn't kill him
