Great course indeed. I'm lucky enough to travel down from Glasgow and play this regularly with good friend Ali who is a long time member.... and it seems the sun always shines on Throndon Park!
Where I play in Braintree looks nicer. I played at Colchester a couple of years ago (Which is above Braintree in the rankings) and wasn't that impressed with it. So I think you should try a course out to see what you think of it, rather than look at a rankings table.
It's alright saying its a friendly ckub come along and try it etc but firstly you probably won't be allowed on without a member and secondly costs a fortune!
