As a 47 year old fan of gi joe, the 1984 figure was amazing to the 10 year old me when I received him. One of my favorite figures of all time. He was in a new lineup that was stacked when he came out. I enjoy your videos keep making them 😎😎😊
RIPCORD!! He was an exciting Joe to see. He's a legendary figure but he was only in 8 episodes out of the entire history of G.I.Joe which is why they put him in the later series and the movie. Rip is a fun guy thanks for doing this 🇺🇸👍💪
I love Ripcord. Those 2 issues where he, Stalker, Gung-ho, and Roadblock go meet Recondo in Sierra Gordo to rescue Dr. Burkhart are 2 of my absolute favorite Joe comics.
I never understand something about the figures, when there’s a figure that looks like beachhead but with a different name, is it beachhead with a different outfit and mission, or is it an entirely different character?
Myself also a Cadet in the Civil Air Patrol in the 80s, I loved Ripcord but didn't get a chance to own him until recently. It's sorta weird that I used Tiger Force Duke as my personal Ripcord being that he had brown hair and I already had Duke. But of course my Ripcord would have been USAF since he was Civil Air Patrol as a teen (auxiliary of the USAF) like Slipstream. He would have joined the Air Force for the old Search And Rescue "SAR" Teams (which today are part of the Special Tactics Teams). He would be the team member that would parachute in to the area of the downed aircraft with a few mechanics to use Aircraft Recovery Operations. To assist in sanitizing, then cannibalize and finally he would destroy the downed aircraft... since he does the demolitions. While the medics would parachute into the area to take care of the pilot.
The only Ripcord I'm a fan of is the 1984 Ripcord not the rest of the Ripcords. That's why G.I. Joe needs a proper live action series set during the 1980s on a very top secret mission so the Joes, Cobra and Dreadnoks will have their classic designs. Seen Bumblebee movie before?
I think the reason ripcord was supposed to be grunts replacement because if u look at both grunt and ripcords filecards they are both from Columbus Ohio.
I can relate with the duplicate ripcord , but I really feel that if G.I Joe wants to test ethnic groups . Why not give some of the actual African-American characters a spot in the movies instead of changing a character? What about the southern chef , or the guy with the glasses and baseball cap? If you want to test new waters I think creating a African-American woman G.I Joe makes more sense as none exist that I know of.
@@fantasticmatic6633 i always felt destro should have been african american. the voice actor they used made him feel very african american. but when you look on his bio it says scottish ... and im like but his voice in the cartoon as a kid i always imagined it that way.
What I don't understand is why in the movies they made him an African American when there were soooo many other real good African American ten members???
Dwald Pilar I don’t know if it’s true but the story was at the time that Wayans was supposed to be Stalker but they thought it might make the black guy sound too creepy so they made him Ripcord instead at the last minute.
@@ChartreusianInfusion That also would not have been entirely accurate as Stalker is mixed ethnicity, I always imagined he was more Puerto Rican, with a name like Lonzo. Growing up I knew more kids from Puerto Rico than Mexico, growing up in the suburbs of Jersey. The story I heard is they gave him a choice of "Code Names" and he chose Ripcord. What would have happened if they portrayed Heavy Duty as being of European ancestry? There is just so much "affirmative action" in Hollywood, people forget Affirmative action is not the same as equal opportunity nor equality. Forced inclusion, at the cost of canon integrity, will not sit well with fans.
Besides Stalker their were sooo many others to choose from.... gi joe was so good about including EVERYBODY from every state n nationality.... I suppose we'll a female snake eyes next... and yes I know in the comics this happened but come on....
It is so disappointing the way Ripcord was presented in RoC, a mere comedian dressed in camouflage and his only reference was at the end of the movie when he jumped out from the Night Raven doing that HALO jump and on top the so call attraction towards Scarlett? Come on, anyway, hope he gets recast if appears in the 3rd Joe movie or in a reboot.
Hey, I'm first GI Joe never made since to me. They're supposed to be an elite force of soldiers but they're all individuals, each with seperate abilities and skills that mostly don't mesh with any other or few other Joes Soldiers of ANY branch act as teams with similar skills as well as unique skills to each member. for instance, a team of 4 green berets/Special Forces all have the the same skills but each man is trained for the role of medic, communications, engineering, intelligence officer or weapons officer but the joes don't act like this Every Joe is different and I don't understand how ANY of them can operate in a single cohesive unit since everyone i trained under a different discipline The Cobras are more cohesive than the Joes should be
I would normally agree with that statement but coming from my experiences so far in the Army is that not everyone your battle buddies will get along with each other, and not many of the Joes are the Special Forces, green beret members most are usually former rangers or Top of their respective fields and we're handpicked so that's usually why some of them don't necessarily get along and they do come from different branches and we all have a little love-hate relationship with each other
@@cowboyquebecanimations3068 But they are still, in a battalion or brigade sized unit, (I never understood how bug a unit GI Joe was supposed to be) that is a vastly diverse set of disciplines, specialties, skills to put in one small unit. especially when you consider that the team members come from all five branches of the military (Even an early version of Trump's space force) Are you thinking that all of those soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guard members could possibly work together in a cohesive way? @@dragonweyr44 it depends on the MOS ( Military Profession ) because of every Branch has Unique one's to them and it takes time to give a crash course on certain equipment and my guess is that they try to get similar jobs in similar team's and form teams depending on the situation and not all jobs are combat-related. His fight against Zartan in issue number 45, was one of the best fights in the entire original 155 issues.

Can't wait until they release this figure for 🪖 GI Joe Classified.

I though That Charlie Iron-Knife was Civil Affairs.
@Loki Simpson I know what You mean!! The play set has Spirit as the Forward Observer so it’s easy to get confused.
