It makes me really sad because Quentin seems like someone who's just so passionate about cinema. It's more to him than just a job. He wants his movie on 70mm projector in a theatre that means something to him. It's all about passion and love for cinema, not money. On the other hand you got Disney who doesn't give a shit about the art of cinema and just wants money.

Lol, that's idiotic. Star Wars has been awesome, because it's pissing off a lot of really stupid duders and that's funny as hell to watch how much they whine.
Star Wars, an important, influential, and one of the greatest sci-fi franchise, over a movie full of n-to-f bombs, sickening bloodshed, and a overall controversial movie. Your choice? Oh and btw, this is Tarantino's worst since Death Proof
This actually happens, I work at a theater and they force us to play they’re movies on our biggest screens for over 3 weeks otherwise they will pull they’re films and smaller films are damaged in sales because of them
I saw Hateful Eight a few days after I watched The Force Awakens, it was such a sharp contrast. It made it so clear to me the problems I had with The Force Awakens. Hateful Eight is much better with texture, more attention to details, not the lazy somewhat sloppy story telling of The Force Awakens. I wish they would of gotten Tarantino to direct Star Wars.
Lol, it's idiotic to try comparing Star Wars to Hateful Eight. They're both great but very different. Don't bother with the dumb-guy movie critic thing.
It projected the 2 different directions movies are going in...er rather, mostly 1 direction now...Force Awakens bullshit that general idiot audiences like..
On one hand, you have an unoriginal over-hyped movie that is going to make so much money, they don't need this. Then you have an original movie written by a great director(which is so rare now) . This is Disney saying they don't care about creativity and art. Cooperate values are a myth used to fool naive consumers. Cooperations only have one value, and it is making money. Disney will either stick with their decision or they will make a bullshit statement saying they will let him play his movie b/c they want to protect their reputation. They are going to do anything that can prevent them from losing money
Art is subjective and no movie released by any studio is made specifically for the art its made for money if it can.be artistic and make money thats even better but don't kid yourself intothinking that making money isn't first and foremost.
Extremely unpopular opinion but Hateful 8 is my favorite Tarantino. Django is close in 2nd but something about the world he creates in just a cozy little cabin is amazing.
My friend runs a couple of movie theaters, and what Quentin says about Disney is 100% accurate. They are known for bullying theater owners. My friend said they pulled a similar tactic on him with "Tron Legacy."
I work at the Arclight (the theater Tarantino was talking about) and let me tell you, Disney pulls this shit off whenever a new Star Wars/Marvel movie is released. When the Last Jedi came out that's all we played for 2 weeks no joke. And recently Captain Marvel (on its release) took over 11 out of 14 screens we have.
I love Howard and Quentin, they're both relentless amazing artists that truly deserve respect. Disney should be ashamed of themselves. That's absolutely horrible, and to think that they would do this around Christmas time makes it even more disgusting.
The Hateful Eight will be a better film for those who don't just care about CGI explosions and trivial commercially-applauded plots, yeah. There's an art to the way Quentin Tarantino makes a film hence him being called the single most influential director of his generation many times.
I just watched this clip and genuinely could feel the hurt in QTs voice.he is such a movie enthusiast and cares about his films whereas Disney are just a production line.i feel his pain.
When the last Jedi was released they did something similarly shady. They forced theaters to give them a 70/30 cut of the ticket sales. Normally it's 50/50. And if they refuse they weren't allowed to show it in theaters.
He may have lost the battle, but he won the war. I just rewatched hateful eight in all its glory and enjoyed every second of it. Need i mention the tragedy of Disney's star wars?
Even if Tarantino wanted to sue, Disney could have had their team of lawyers unload a train car full of legal briefs on him. We'd be discussing this until it's called 22nd Century Fox.
I believe that the hateful 8 , is the most advanced and best script of Tarantino in terms of its writing , had it only been a lil more advertise or sumth it wouldve been bigger
Disney's producers paid the crews on star wars the bear minimum citing that it's just an honor to be working on the project (which it is)People who i know turned down the offer, it wasn't even a fair wage. I personally have worked on Disney productions, they don't treat people with respect, Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek) almost quit after her bad experience on Pirates of the Caribbean saying they have no respect if you are not an A lister or money maker.

And sell about 30x worse, the joke's on them but they're laughing all the way to the bank
Lol, that's idiotic. Star Wars has been awesome, because it's pissing off a lot of really stupid duders and that's funny as hell to watch how much they whine.
Hateful 8 is one of my favorite movies of all times. It’s different, gritty, and absolutely amazing!!
that movie is absolute dogshit. but yea still better then disney star wars
good movie but could have been cut in half runtime wise. tried to be reservoir dogs but way to drawn out.
When Howard called Bobby Quentin sat there like a kid when their dad is trying to convince their mom they’ve earned a lego set
Exactly lol!
Hahaha awesome of Mr Stern to do that and a make a sincere plea to help is friend. And he came through with the movie premiere happening there 🔥 ❤
I WILL NOT go to the cinema to watch Star Wars movie! I support Quentin!
Nekofaza uh that’s kinda dumb lol, you’re not doing anything like you think you are lol
Lol
Yay! XD
"You sound nervous about this."
"Uh...well it's a big fucking deal"
LOL
Seeing Quentin’s face & the emotion behind it as Howard makes his plea to Bob Iger actually made me tear up 😢
The Hateful Eight > Star Wars. That's all
Have you even seen both?
no
Godsuimty Hateful Eight: Original and gripping
The Force Awakens: Rehashed plot from 30 years ago
Star Wars, an important, influential, and one of the greatest sci-fi franchise, over a movie full of n-to-f bombs, sickening bloodshed, and a overall controversial movie. Your choice?
Oh and btw, this is Tarantino's worst since Death Proof
At least prequels and sequels
Disney taking notes from Konami I see
KiRMett bro don't hate on Konami I love metal gear online 3
Dickney
I know I am late but death stranding hype 🐋
Nah Disney have *always* been the foremost copyright troll monopolists.
I’ll take anyone of Tarantino’s films over Star Wars any day of the week.
_
Well... anything in the new trilogy and 2 prequels, but idk bout the ogs.
Me too! XD
Not all podcast hosts can pull strings and do this kind of favor for their guests. This is amazing.
More directors should strive to be like Quentin. Such passion.
Howard Stern saying "it's Christmas for Christ's sake" killed me.
My respect for Quentin Tarantino grows every day. As an artist and person!
I've seen Hateful Eight in 70mm on a Cinerama screen, it was incredible
"It's Christmas for Christ's sake."
"Yeah, I see the decorations. Good luck in the new year."
How about two for you, one for me 😉
I came here to say that!!! YES!!
Bob iger is Jewish he doesn't give a fuck about Christmas
So down to Earth, love this man
which one?
+Don Kurdi
Tarantino, duh.
+Don Kurdi Both
+Don Kurdi your mom!
+Don Kurdi all
QUENTIN IS A LEGEND
This actually happens, I work at a theater and they force us to play they’re movies on our biggest screens for over 3 weeks otherwise they will pull they’re films and smaller films are damaged in sales because of them
No one's going to remember disney star wars. Quentin's movies are evergreen.
Howard: *Pulls some strings*
Disney: “The force is strong with this one.”
The Hateful 8 had Characters named "Daisy" and "Minnie", coincidence? I think not!!!!
Holy fuck... I didn’t even realize that he had drama with Disney but now hearing this and reading your comment it’s literally a giant fuck you Disney
Coincidence? I think yes.
I don't remember anymore, but did they get their faces blown to bits? If so, we know why
Pretty sure he had the movie already shot when the issue occurred.
Coincidence? Absolutely
OH God ... Noooooooo
+Rickshawali How come you are here?
rickshawali is everywhr....
Chinmay Mandavgane What do you know..right? :)
Hashim Noxious I am :D
Hope Disney would listen to QT and let him play his damn movie. C'mon Disney
Poor Quentin, you can really feel the sense of injustice he feels.
Force Awakens was terrible, The Last Jedi is even worse.
Lol, it's idiotic to try comparing Star Wars to Hateful Eight. They're both great but very different. Don't bother with the dumb-guy movie critic thing.
He is going to direct a star trek movie though
A QT reimagined Star Wars? That would be worth the price of admission.
It projected the 2 different directions movies are going in...er rather, mostly 1 direction now...Force Awakens bullshit that general idiot audiences like..
Can’t remember what the Star Wars movie was about but I’ve watched the hateful eight about nine times. The arc of history bends toward Tarantino
SO WHAT HAPPENED IN THE END? DID THEY SHOW STAR WARS OR HATEFUL EIGHT?
Asking the real questions here. I would like to know too!
Disney always wins
Star Wars.
They fucked him over.
He later vowed to never work with Disney again in any way shape or form.
?
can't see any answer :/
Hateful 8 is actually his most underrated film. I love the theatrical element to it, and realise that most people find that slow or dull.
Absolutely love how he tells everything how it is, he doesn't sugar coat anything what so ever!
2:03 makes me laugh every time. A prideful laugh, respect him standing up for himself.
You also have Dove with their hypocritical body image campaign when we all know they are owned by Unilever which also owns Axe.
+Largo Corto i wish disney goes bankrupt or at leat fucking kicks bob iger out. i hated them ever since bob iger became ceo
Art is subjective and no movie released by any studio is made specifically for the art its made for money if it can.be artistic and make money thats even better but don't kid yourself intothinking that making money isn't first and foremost.
you do realize that cooperation is not the same as a corporation right....?
it is its own word!
+Mr. McGibblets cooperations have 0 values, because they are not a physical entity!
the way how quentin voiced his concern and experience actually made me sad
2:45 I love how Quentin is like: “Yeah, you tell him, maybe he’ll listen to you”. 😂
If only Quentin Tarantino had a podcast just talking about movies fuck that would be amazing
Quentin Tarantino looks like a roughed up version of Roger Federer
Rodney Roof You know what? I can totally see it!
good fucking call dude
Rodney Roof 😂😂😂😂
After 2019 Wimbledon loss.
HAHAHAHAHA WOW I've never laughed so hard!!!!
In my 40+ years,I have never seen or known anyone that looks like or even resembles Quentin Tarantino..He has such a unique look..
Got to love and respect Tarantino this is not the first interview I’ve seen him voice his opinions and tell it how it is.
Watched this right after the Jamie Fox impression clip and I just now realize how well he did the mannerisms.
i honestly gotta say i got a lot more respect for Howard after this call he made. Tarantino is BOSS
Imagine a Star Wars movie being directed by Quentin Tarantino.
+WINxTEC Every second word would be fuck lol
+FINAL_B I would rather Nolan do one.
+KIRPPU "in it's own way" grow up, it's that or Abrams
chickens so good
but seriously imagine a tarantino star wars or star trek
disney so fucking gangster.
+NiNi Disney are so fucking shit
+NiNi Got to love it !
NiNi You commented "lol", lets knock that down to a 2 year old.
Don't fuck with disney
Don't mess with Disney B
Extremely unpopular opinion but Hateful 8 is my favorite Tarantino. Django is close in 2nd but something about the world he creates in just a cozy little cabin is amazing.
Extremely unpopular opinion? The movie is great, one of my favorites.
Definetly one of my favorite... Love it, the extended version on Netflix is just great.
Saw Predator 2 there, left with my ears bleeding ... Great Cinema, always preferred it.
I've lost count how many times I've watched all his films his made more then any Disney movie
Star Wars will be great - but it's not fuckin' Quentin Tarantino. Shitty move by them.
Agreed. Bob can fall fo flows...
Are you saying "Hateful Eight" will be better than Star Wars?..
The Hateful Eight will be a better film for those who don't just care about CGI explosions and trivial commercially-applauded plots, yeah. There's an art to the way Quentin Tarantino makes a film hence him being called the single most influential director of his generation many times.
+Chris Faust I hope that God is not Quentin in disguise?
Lmao. I don't think we'll ever be able to answer that.
This makes me sad. I like Tarantino. He's a great man
I just watched this clip and genuinely could feel the hurt in QTs voice.he is such a movie enthusiast and cares about his films whereas Disney are just a production line.i feel his pain.
Quentin should team up with Dreamworks or Warner Bros
When the last Jedi was released they did something similarly shady. They forced theaters to give them a 70/30 cut of the ticket sales. Normally it's 50/50. And if they refuse they weren't allowed to show it in theaters.
Unacceptable.
Disney is the Hollywood equivalent of the Galactic Empire
They rule Hollywood with an iron fist.
I have come to realize the terrible truth; Disney is the sith lord.
The last Star Wars was very dissapointed. The hatefull eight is amazing.
Aart van der jagt Hateful 8 is garbage.
Quentin is a genius. I love that guy the way he talks to paparazzis
There is not a word in the English language that describes how much better The Hateful Eight was than The Force Awakens.
The persuasion techniques that interviewer guy employed on Bob Iger... Wow, that was some smooth talk
+Merchant Ivory (filmstudent) They did the same thing to Robin Williams.
***** Yeah WB is actually one of the few where people like working there and its very hard to get into that studio, there very close nit. I'll never work for disney, ever!
+Merchant Ivory (filmstudent)
"Disney's producers paid the crews on star wars the bear minimum"
I'd work for Yogi rate, maybe a hamper or two...
+Merchant Ivory (filmstudent) bare* lmao. Wow
The film business is a harsh business. People go into filmmaking to be around the creative process but it ain't as fun as it sounds.
