16:55 From what I've heard, Mirage/Dino had to be red in order for Ferrari to agree to their car being in the movie. For being a character that really didn't have a ton of screen time, there were a lot of hurdles to clear in order for him to even be in the movie. I love these redesigns. I wish Transformers leaned into stylized designs like this more often.
In other words: Michael Bay being a sellout hag once again
It is pretty silly that the filmmakers had to jump through so many hoops just to get a Ferrari in their movie just for that character to wind up with 4 minutes of screentime and 3 voice lines.
Not complaining though. I still think Dino is really cool and I own his studio series toy.

While I typically like my Ratchet and Ironhide designs to be similar to each other (because I feel like it, ironically, makes them stand out more and contrast with each other), the Ratchet design having a dad bod and an almost "overalls" look is actually really neat and inspired. Ironhide also looks pretty badass, too.

I love these designs! as a massive mecha fan, i find the vents on either side of the heads of some autobots (most notably prime and jazz) to bear a striking resemblance to the cheek vents seen in designs seen from the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. While I doubt this was the intended homage, vents on the sides of the head like this are a common sight on Gundam's protagonist machines, especially the main robots. It not only works for the designs, but the extra reference already strengthens the heroic silhouettes of the characters by linking them to other robotic heroes!
Dude these are really cool! I’m a biology nerd myself, so my transformers concepts usually end up on the “they look actually alien” side of things, the only ones I wanted to make look a smidge friendly were prime and bee, primes face being somewhat human, and Bee having a literal biomechanical bee face (my transformers concepts use the idea that they’re not robots, they’re creatures that evolved to be able to shapeshift, and they transform by basically flexing muscles.)
I wanted to make mine unsettling, and portray the idea that “not all things are what they seem”

I just keep coming back to your videos, because I'm blown away by your designs and the way you describe your thought proccess behind each design element and why you chose it. There is not one design that I have a gripe with they're THAT GOOD! Now I hope you don't take this as criticism but rather a compliment. Your drawing skills need improvement (vehicles especially), but your cartoony art style, freaking amazing crativity and the overall flow of each design and the animation... I'M FLABBERGASTED! Your creativity is constrained by your skills is what I'm trying to say and I hope this doesn't come off as douchey I'm trying my best to describe how incredible your work is despite your abbilites. I've never seen anyting as creative in the franchise in terms of designs as yours till now. I ADORE YOUR DESIGNS!!!! Cannot wait to hear your thought process on how you redesigned the Deceptions and especially Bonecrusher as he is my favorite redesign of yours.
I am very intrigued about how went on redesigning some of the famous among the Autobots. Now I can't wait to see how to see how you'll redesign the Decepticons, as well as other characters such as my favorite group of the Autobots; the Dinobots.

there are around 442 characters in the g1 toyline, considering most newer characters are also named after one of these, there are atleast 500 characters.
I did some Transformers designs in the past, and when I did Bumblebee I exclusively made him based on bees, a rounder silhouette, a helmet that is similar to the one he wears in the recent films that has a visor that looks like insect eyes, and Big eyes that also give him a more friendly look and make him look more like a bee.
I really love these redesigns! I especially love your Ratchet redesign. I love how he has a detachable medical backpack!

My favorite subject of fan redesigns is movie Blackout. I feel like he has one of the most iconic robot designs spawning from the bayverse so I'm excited to see you putting your own spin on it and how much of the original you kept.

I like your designs and attention to detail. If you ever plan on redesigning the other movies designs then I can’t wait to see what you cook up.
My one complaint with most fan redesigns is that they aren't very toyetic. I know they're not going to be turned into toys but that's my favorite aspect of the franchise so I like when I can tell exactly how the parts rearrange to become the alt mode.
I love this when redesigning characters taking elements from different versions and other characters from different media you’re transformers are great
I just found your channel today, and it helped me get motivation for creating my own characters again. I’m still in the process of making profiles though. My plan now is to remake existing characters I know I want in my own continuity (called the Reformed Continuity as a better attempt to create a better hybrid of all concepts and previous universes after the Aligned universe failed at that) and figure out an art style for those characters, then use my experience to create my brand new characters. A few months ago, I created a short story for my school’s writing celebration, and it was a winner in its category. I made the crew of the Oblivion, an research shuttle that surveys the ores on each of the colony planets
Btw, your designs are really solid, it's definitely among the better art styles I've seen on the internet
I'm far from being a competent artist tbh, but I love redesigning characters a lot, even having an Optimus Prime design that many ppl found it unique and distinct from many others (not showing off, this genuinely happened to me multiple times). A tip for anyone wanting to redesign characters: Keep it simple, but give it your own touch, find unique ways to give it an essence of its own, while respecting the source material.

Something I always struggle with when trying to assemble a Transformers roster is color overlap. Optimus is primarily red with blue as a secondary color. So Ironhide, Sideswipe, Cliffjumper, etc. clash pretty hard with him. (Assuming you use G1 colors) and with Ratchet, you have to give him an accent, otherwise he's just boring white. So you go with red, but you have to find a balance between enough red to break up the white and not so much that he clashes with Optimus.
I always thought it would make a lot more sense if bumblebee transformed into a dodge super bee

I like how your Autobots have faction symbols with more color than red, it gives variety to them
I mean the only thing not worth sacrificing is their licensed vehicles, and I would still refrain making them looking like cereal boxes.

This may sound random but coincidentally, i also have my own redesigns (they would look awesome if only i was good at drawing). Just to give you a few examples of my own reiterations;
The Aerialbots of my universe are heavily inspired by Top Gun, Ace Combat and many other franchises involving aerial combat. Their jet modes are heavily changed simply because I'm a sucker for wacky yet badass aircraft designs. Speaking of designs, the Aerialbots are meant to resemble the Variable Fighters from Super Dimension Fortress Macross, an anime that also features fighter jets that turn into robots. In my universe however, instead of a team of 5 bots, they're an entire army of Autobot aircraft serving as both their Air Force and galactic navy.
My universe's Trainbots are designed to look like mechs you see in a lot of Super Robot anime. It just makes sense considering that Japanese Transformers are a lot more bombastic as opposed to western Transformers being more serious and grounded. On top of that, i made all of them turn into Shinkansens as a homage to Team Bullet Train from RiD 2001
Star Saber similarly has that same Super Robot style to him resembling a lot of modern Gundams. This version however turns into a stealth bomber similar to Energon Wing Saber which kinda looks like Stealth Gao from GaoGaiGar
I have way more i could talk about but my comment is way to long. I absolutely love your designs and really hope to see your Decepticon designs and other maybe even other characters

me too! it's like i'm a designer for hasbro or something and I have to keep in mind how the toy will look haha. It can be difficult but I feel like it adds an extra layer of fun and complexity.

I absolutely love your designs, i was a little nervous when you say u would given them a more human facial features, which give me some war memories(wheeljack) but now i only waiting for more redesigns.
Are you going to make arcee, chromia and elita-1 different, right? I know Michael Bay didn't care for these characters, and them killed them late, but i would love if them are different from each other, like chromia being a Toyota land cruiser for example

I wonder how a Halo x Transformers redesign would work. What vehicles would go with what characters, what style for robot mode, colors, etc. I would personally use something like Halo Reach, and Halo Wars as the reference point for the vehicle designs and gritty feel. Halo as a franchise isnt in a good spot right now, so its not gonna be popular but I still like the idea of it.

I feel that getting a solid, numerical answer to how many transformers there are is just categorically impossible, due to how wildly different and mismatched the franchise and all its continuities are. You couldn't go by every character, because there are multiple different versions of most characters, but sometimes certain versions have different names, or they're clearly supposed to be some other character and just have the wrong name, and many names have been used for multiple unrelated characters, some of whom get merged a little for later versions of that name's usage, and then there's the whole can of worms of differences between english and japanese interpretations of things. And going by individual toys that've been released could get you into a whole mess of semantics about what counts as a new release and what's different to justify counting separately, basicically it's a logistically impossible task.
Basically, even as someone with the autistic tendency to want to concretely list and categorize things, even I as a lifelong Transformers fan would never undertake such an insane task, unless it was to count every character in my own personal AU of Transformers (purely hypothetical, that doesn't concretely exist)

If I got to pick who should be the main autobot team it would be Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Arcee, Cliffjumper expect he wouldn’t die immediately and he would feel like a character, Wheeljack, and I’m not sure for the seventh member. Maybe Grimlock with the colors from robots in disguise, or someone else. Thoughts.
And for the desespticons I would use Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, Blackacranid, Knockout, Blitxwing. Thoughts.
I made a list of all the transformers character thst i made from watching all the shows games and Movies and thares over 500 characters on that list
Wait but the Bumblebee has the car windows in the chest but at the back wings at the same time how does that make sense
