Got these shoes. Worked well for snow and soft ground like trail. Not recommended for regular pavement since them are pretty stiff and don't absorb ANY impact.
Mine started to leak in about 12 months, Adidas give a 3 year warranty if bought from their website, but because I bought retail they blew me off. Last Adidas product I buy.
NICE! I bought these because of the materials but when you mentioned glue I realized I had not checked the sources. Really glad I got the right shoe by chance! Great information in the video, thank you.
@@admireinspire We like to start by smacking the soles together to get any big chunks of dirt off. Then we use a rag soaked in warm water along with a little laundry detergent to scrub off the rest. If we need to, we’ll use an old toothbrush to get off any stubborn dirt. If they need a little extra attention, you can soak the shoes in warm water with a little detergent - the water coming up about half way up the shoe (since they're gore-tex, you won't get any water inside). If you’d like to try a specialized shoe cleaning gel, there’s this one that’s recommended for use with gore-tex shoes and boots: bit.ly/32addvx
Thanks for the tip about shortening the laces. VERY helpful! I just ordered the non-GTX version. I bought a pair of GTX Salomon shoes but sent them back because I didn't like the fit and they didn't breathe enough. Too hot and too tight in the toe box. Hoping these Adidas will work well for me.

Cold water is safer, some people interpret warm water as anything between luke warm and scalding. These shoes have glued parts, using warm water and soap will affect glued parts after a while. From the upper portion of the shoes rubber pieces to parts of the shoe sole rubber tread.
The treads burn out rather quickly on these shoes and most Adidas for that matter. The original Swift GTX is well constructed but if you put miles on them on varied terrain in water, puddles, in the city going through various conditions, exposure to chemicals on the ground they eventually can fall apart a bit. The rubber sole is glued on, with all the chemicals, oil, and other contaminants that end of on the streets eventually on the soles to your shoes, your shoe's rubber soles will become degraded, wear faster, and portions of the shoe's rubber exterior will even come apart. Try to keep your shoe away from areas of petrochemicals, soaps, detergents, sprays, car chemicals, anything like that. They are easily cleaned with just water, don't use soaps or any of that junk. For extra protection against chemicals that can degrade your shoe like I mentioned, there might be a suitable protective spray. If you stick to natural trails with none of the man made chem, you're fine, they'll last, but if you go everywhere in them like me, because I like them so much, you'll burn them out quick. I haven't tried the R2 version of this shoe, I'm about to, I hope I'm not disappointed like I was with a different Adidas shoe, with the Surround Feature (basically a cheaper sole with a really cheap in sole). Visually the R2 and original look identical, hopefully the R2 is just as good with maybe an improvement, we'll see.
I've used them in hot and cold weather. They are much more suited for cold, but they are like just a regular sneaker in hot weather. Not as fresh as a running shoe but not as sweaty as a proper boot or work shoe
Very difficult to say. We’ve done countless hikes and backcountry backpacking in these throughout the southwest and all along the west coast. They have been very well used. We’ll keep that metric in mind in our future testing and reviews!
Totally! The part of the sole that came loose was non-critical so I didn't bother having it repaired. The soles actually wore down before anything needed re-glued
Exactly. Not to mention the thousands of species that have gone extinct thanks to the impact the fossil fuel industry has had on the environment. But hey, that glue....

Wow I never knew there was such a thing as ….vegan clothing? Learn something new everyday. I always assumed vegan was all about food.
Its a mad world ....
I'm undecided between r3 and r2, which one would you recommend in terms of durability and elegance r2 swift gtx looks more stylish

@@Terradrift Do you have any advice on how to wash them?

Much better sound than your last video on these shoes.
Agreed. 😆
Question about size. I have the mid version of these in a EU 44 2/3. Is the size of these the same as the mid boot?
Should be the same fit.
@@Terradrift awesome thanks. I found that the toe box has stretched out a little over the years but I’ll just order the same size.

Can you please show more of the shoes and less of your face next time thank you
Amazing video!
Thanks!
Are these good in hot weather?
They’re tolerable but a lot warmer than the non-Gortex version.

Dude if the shoe adhesive failed just go to the shoe repair guy , pay 5bucks and it will be good as new. Think about environment .

great video! thanks :)
You betcha!
just please add next time in tittle that this is vegan review.
Cool!
11000 views. Wow, you can retire now.
LOL
Petroleum-based products get the Vegan seal of approval yet the poor Oil Soaked Seals and Sea Otters do not benefit. LOL.

Imho analysing shoes in terms of being vegan is overkill
Not if you're vegan.
wat???? vegan boots???)))))))
Indeed!
Vegan shoes what ....
Indeed.
