its absolutely the best car i've ever owned! my only regret is that the factory cancelled my order for my '24 SS1LE because they stopped production. couldn't find one after that without an insane markup. Cheers to owning a great vehicle!
Agree with your dislikes, but I would have to add one thing, and it would be No.1! The button on the steering wheel! Hate them. They are number one because you have to touch them and deal with them constantly and they feel worse than a fisher price toy. The steering wheel buttons in my '16 Silverado are simple, easy to clean, and provide a great feel to touch. So GM had the capability to give us good button, but they gave us what we got. They are so bad to me that I even cringe thinking about adjusting my speed with the cruise control buttons. lol Maybe I'm nuts too but C'mon Man!!
Some good points here, without the blind spot monitoring and that rear view camera visibility/lane changes a bit more of a concern but as you said properly adjusted side mirrors do help. Regarding side mirrors, they should be able to fold in like they do on most cars built in recent decades.
yeah, I can definitely see how blindspots get worse without the blind spot monitoring, but I think side/side-rear view is still 95% fixable with side mirror adjustment. I also find that I don't use the rear antenna camera much (if at all) cause I don't like having a bright screen in my peripheral vision. I mainly use the rearview to check if someone is coming up behind me fast, and to get a general idea if I'm clear to merge. Only times I think I've used the rear antenna camera was drying heavy rain or at night because my tints are so dark. I didn't even know the side mirrors didn't fold like that!
Whatever you do concerning the trunk, make sure that gasket does not get disturbed. Had aftermarket taillights installed in my 18 ss, somehow the gasket came out of its channel below back window and water got in where a spare tire would be. That’s where the amp fuse box live. $1700.00 back to good. Whew!! 😠
dudeee I've heard the trunk gasket can be really finicky! I've always really careful pulling bags out of the back to make sure nothing snags. Luckily, I haven't put anything oversized in the trunk, so I haven't run into that issue. $1700 is an expensive lesson. thanks for passing it on!
Phone goes in your pants pocket. We're driving, not doing phone stuff. :) I have a 2022 1SS, and the only thing that really bugs me is the fit of the back bumper cover when the outdoor temp is over 90 degrees. There is enough expansion to leave a real gap, and the gap closes up when the car and air around it cool off. This is my 6th or 7th Camaro from across many generations, and it's miles ahead of any of the others.
I completely agree with number three and seven. I had a 370 Z and if I drop someone at the store I could lay back in the car until they were finish.. not being able to lay the seat back in my Zl1 is a mistake
what makes it worse is that the seats are comfy AND have the memory function. it used to be a pain to recline in my wrx/brz and then have to find the right seating position again. now that I have the option to automatically reset the seat, I can't lay down? WHY?!
With the luggage issue you can pull the backseat down. Move the frint seat all the way up. Ive had 3 6th gens. RS 2SS now a 2SS1LE. Seeing over the nose especially on the passenger side is an issue. I nipped the bottom of my 1LE splitter front in parking. The only other issue i have w all 3 is. On really humid days the defog vent center dashed leaks and fogs the windshield . Only remedy is to bring the temp up till you get moving at a steady speed for swhile. Also the seat can go all the way back when you turn the car off. But alot of people cant reach the clutch to restart once they get back in. Why GM? You. can set the memory seats but the easy enter setting is only fully back. Also dont ever fill it while its running. The 10.5 quarts of oil was a bit of a shocker too. Its the best car ive ever had. And one of the best ive ever driven (in 1LE form) the 2SS is very floaty at speed on rough surfaces like dips in the road. Be careful with speed and uneven surfaces the 2SS will nose lift. Good luck with your ride. Enjoyed your video
I appreciate the luggage advice! I was really racking my brain trying to figure out if getting large luggage in the trunk was possible without damaging the gasket, to hitting the sides repeatedly. Will definitely be using that tip for road trips! I had a 2SS1LE on order, but chevy ended production early, so my dealership cancelled mine. I was looking all over the place for a 1LE, but the markups on them within 1000 miles of me were getting insane! I found this 2SS with Magneride, and the Bose sound system, with a $2000 discount, so I knew I had to jump on it. Since you've had the 2SS and 2SS1LE, can you describe the real differences? I know power wise they make the same, and I thought the biggest difference was the Magneride suspension, the bigger brakes, and the e-diff. the 2SS is definitely the best car I've ever had! coming from an AWD WRX, and a RWD '23 BRZ, this thing is an absolute monster! All the power I could want (for now), a good interior (in my opinion), and performance that's rivaling 70-90k cars. Thanks for the information and comment!
There's several things like Recaros .more coolers, fatter stabilizers. 305 rears .285 fronts. 2 piece rotors.Better wheels. Multilevel track mode settings. The E Diff is a substantial help if you are going to do any limit type driving. The SS can step out pretty suddenly in the rear on corner exits. Having more and less aggressive slip is like God mode taking turns at 100+ with no tire squeal. Going slow like 45 and under the car takes bumps and imperfections worse than the SS. But at 50 or 90 or 130 bumps are an afterthought. The car stays stable. I lowered my 2SS on BMR Stabilizers and end links and lowering springs. Put Bilstein s on all 4 corners. The car handled much better and I was basically happy. But I made the mistake of building up a A8. And about 40 thousand miles second started slipping and I got shuddering and my diff when cold sqealed sometimes. I figured out I was trying to make a 1LE😌 It was fun finding out I'm an idiot. I didn't have Mag ride. So I can't say if I had that I would have beefed up my suspension. I just know what made me sell it is I got nose lift at 120mph. And had no steering because my wheels were off the ground. I knew then that the car was not going to keep up with what the engine was putting out for me. I did notice the 1LE rides heavier it just feels more like a weapon. As the SS package is more of an all around great car for daily. 1LE rotors are more expensive. tires wear faster and are more expensive. If it has to be my daily I probably wouldn't keep it long. The SS I ran as my daily and it worked. The 1LE would work but it just feels like it should be doing more..all the time😎
if the WORST things i found on my 2024 2SS are things that are kinda "inconvenient", than it should speak volumes about how great the car is! It's a great car! I havent seen many people regret getting one, but have seen and heard many stories of people absolutely regretting selling theirs!
ua-cam.com/video/vT8UVPJNIUU/v-deo.htmlsi=waI8waN_9fQc0iEY I picked up my 24 the day after Thanksgiving and I agree with every point u made ,The front visibility or basically visibility in general isn't an issue for me but overall u are spot on
@@frankie072 dude! I had a 2025 2SS 1LE on order, but the dealership cancelled it cause GM stopped production! EXCELLENT color choice! The side and rear visibility isnt a big deal to me, but i hate driving in tight parking lots cause i feel like im gonna destroy my lip on the concrete barriers

Nah the seat issue really does bother me. Like there’s no way that’s how far it goes.

As a fellow 6th gen owner (23 SS 1LE), I completely agree on all points. That said, still love this car with all my heart. Despite it's imperfections.

great for winter naps tbh
I have a 2024 1SS and agree about the skip shift and front hood vis. I bought the eliminator and will be installing it today.
