I have seen some people scribe a very light line down the center of a piece of leather as a guide for the stamp. If the line is light enough you don't see it after you've stamped over it. That helps us newbies keep things neat.

I love stamps. The only limit is your imagination. A guy on UA-cam showed how to do round patterns using a compass to scribe several different diameter circles to get you started. I've done it several time and it's a blast to do.

Stamping was the reason I got into... Carving! I was so frustrated with little flaws in my design, I started tooling figures, flowers, animals, etc, just to distract from my stamping errors!

OLD LEATHER SMITH here, Great ideas Chuck, I like when a stamp is available in 2 or more sizes, when I have that I stamp 1 inside the other looks awesome, or 1 outside the other, my ideas Chuck. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

The stamp going into the leather is what drove me to get into the craft. I absolutely love stamping and carving. Such a satisfying trade

7:10 With that 4-point starburst stamp, if you connected the corner tips to each other, you could create a pattern that looks like tufted upholstery with center buttons.

What about a video on stamping scenes? Example mountain back ground with log cabin at the base perhaps a western setting with wood rail fence and maybe some wolves or other animals? Just brain storming here...stamps give so many options. 🤠

Is the new line of Weaver Stamps made in the USA by Weaver like the Master Tools? Or are they made over seas?
Some of the kits Weaver offers are the same ones Ivan Leather offers. And I'm guessing the leather is an import as well, and the hardware that comes with them.
The price range of the new Weaver Stamps are about the same as the Stainless Steel Stamps from Craft Plus and Craft Japan.
That's why I ask if they are made in the USA.
If the new stamps are imported, I'd rather pay less and not get the fancy packaging I have to pay for that just gets thrown away.
Or it would be better to buy a different brand and pay less for the stamp. The name on the stamp has little value to me at this stage in the game at my age.
Money may not be an issue for some people, and they may want specific names on all their tools. And that's fine if that's what they want and can afford.
But for me, I'm old and don't have many years left to use the tools I buy and I know it. And my tools will be a burden to my son to dispose of when I'm gone.
I'm also disabled and live on a very small budget, so money is a big issue for me.
I've looked at tools as an investment my whole life because every trade I worked in demanded I have my own tools.
You have to make a wise decision when purchasing tools. Is it a tool that will receive a lot of use, or an occasional use, and purchase accordingly.
Most stamps get the occasional use, not used on every project, with a few exceptions like bevelers, backgrounds and matting.
All depending on what kind of carving and stamping style you do as well. If you do all Sheridan style, you really don't need all that many stamps.
So by all means, you should buy the best tools available for the type of stamping regardless what country they originate from.
I don't particularly like Sheridan Style, so I just do like Chuck does and grab stuff off the internet and make up my own designs.
I have never done the same stamping design twice, but I don't run a production shop by any means. I do it for fun and to pass the time I have left.
I don't sell much of anything I make, I just give it away to people who are kind to me and help me out when I need it.
So, I'll ask a question for those who have read this far...
Would you rather pay $20 each for the new Weaver Stamps, and have them come in a simple zip lock baggy with a backing card?
Or pay the $25 each and get the fancy packaging and piece of leather that will just get thrown away?
Because in the end, you are paying for their marketing strategy. It cost more to ship because it takes up more volume, takes longer to package, the packaging itself costs more, the case shipping box is larger and cost more... And we are all paying for that, and it all ends up in a land fill when all is said and done.
And it doesn't add any more value to the tool itself, it's just making a tool look more appealing by making it look special.
To me, a special tool is one I bought economically that does the same thing as a higher price tool does on the occasional use.
I recently took advantage of a sale from a supplier on stamps at $3.99 each. The exact same stamps normally sell for $7 and $8 from several suppliers, even Weaver.
And the best part when they arrived was, is that some of them were made in the USA! And, a few of them are the exact same size and design as the new Weaver Stamps.
I know they are not Stainless Steel, they are a Zinc Alloy so they won't last as long. But then again, neither will I. And who knows what will become of them when I'm gone?

don't waste your money on a marble slab (don't BUY one).
Go around to countertop and/or tile/marble/granite stores and ask what they do with their remnants.
My local guy had a pallet with probably 50+ 12"x12" granite, marble and quartz slabs. Gave me as many as I wanted for free.

"love the packaging".... uh no. the packaging has WAY too much plastic. the tool DOES NOT need to come in any plastic packaging at all! its so freaking wasteful. you know that plastic is just going to be tossed into the nearest trash bin right?? how about you do us all a favor and get rid of the plastic packaging.

I agree! Love you Chuck and Weaver but we need to rethink disposable plastic. It is an extra cost to the distributor and the customers don't want it.
