@@bengilliam7877 of course i understand that but these guys set such a high standard that sometimes we forget they r only human and they showed that yesterday. There was a moment mid match wherr Cullen wasnt even hitting the right segments let alone the trebles but it can be like that sometimes which definitely makes it interesting but as a fan of the players u feel like r not playing at the level they expect and u can see how disappointed they r.

MVG, Anderson, Smith and Gezzy, all out before the 1/4 finals.... This Matchplay Is insane
Don't think Anderson was up there as a favorite like the other 3.
@@Robkinggozer He was a wildcard but I'd still say he was, he also had the 2nd highest average of the session, only being beaten by his opponent Gurney.

@@claphands-pr2vt I'm pretty sure that price doesn't care about people online. Its the audience that is important.
But I understand its only human to cling to negativity and to claim victimisation. For example I remember how some people were claiming price was unpopular because he was welsh. Problem being that other welsh players such as Clayton aren't unpopular. There is always something to whine about.
Gurney played absolutely class. If he carrys on like that, I honestly see him winning it

It reminds me what Chizzy played against MVG back in world cup 2021. I don't think Gurney can repeat this flawless performance again.
Crazy crazy night of darts. Quality wise it wasn’t the best but drama and shocks wise it was fantastic. First match was sensational, Gurney played out of his skin and I was amazed how well he played, Gary didn’t do much wrong but when u come up against that sort of performance especially how Daryl was finishing the doubles, u just gotta tip ur hat off to ur opponent. The next 2 matches were expected to be close and they were but in a strange sort of way. None of the 4 played to the level we are used to seeing them at but it created that unpredictability and drama that we love. I had that feeling that Aspinall would nick a close encounter with Danny and that’s what happened. The next match I thought Gezzy would win a fairly close one with Joe but it was a topsy turvy game which was a very strange one. Price scoring and Cullen finishing at the beginning then in the middle Cullen completely went off the boil and was playing his worst darts of the match and Price not spectacularly but gradually caught up and went ahead and then Cullen came in clutch right at the end with the Bullseye finish off the 81 which basically saved his skin and then the back to back combination finishes in that particular moment in the match was just pure brilliance. Gezzy will be kicking himself with all the doubles he missed and even though he averaged a ton, it seemed like a bad performance coz of the finishing. The final match was brilliant and a great example of play the board not the opponent which is easier said than done but Chris Dobey does it so so well. Literally no emotions or nerves and just carries on playing until it’s over. After the first few legs it looked like a Micheal Smith blowout but Chris Dobey just kept plugging away and got himself level and the finishing was stunning. Every time Smith missed, Dobey punished him. Well this really opens up the draw now coz the 3 favourites r all out and we haven’t even reached the quarters yet. This is why darts is the best coz anyone can beat anyone on any given day and I really believe any of the remaining players can win the tournament. Onto tomorrow now and another set of brilliant matches coming up.

This night showed the aspect of doubles and finishing in spectacular fashion showing how important it is even without an amazing avg ie Cullen
Well...
THAT... was a night of darts to remember.
Gurney bringing his best, Cullen finding true courage to fight back against Price when he looked completely out of it losing the lead... and Dobey bringing down the World Number One with some excellent finishing. This sport never fails to surprise me. Nathan didn't inspire much confidence but I'm glad he's through.
The World Matchplay is now WIDE OPEN, folks. Enjoy it.
Thing that bugs me the most is, Gary would've propably beat any other player on that stage last night, but he had to come up against Gurney.

Honestly though, so happy to be alive nowadays as a darts fan, the quality of the game is getting so high it's honestly brutal. Gary averaged over 100 and still lost 💀
What a night of darts. Gary, Price and Smith all going out in the same day is unbelievable. I have a sneaky feeling Wright is going to surprise everyone and go far in this tournament.
3 big hitters going out had really opened things up. I feel this is Humphries best chance to show he's not just good on the floor. Keep an eye on Searle too and even Gurney. You literally can't predict this years winner and that's the best thing about it!
If Wright goes on to win this tournament… than he more than deserves it. But if he loses in the 2nd round, then anybody could be winning this tournament

Very hard to call this tournament. Expecting Dobey to give Aspinall a close game tomorrow as well.

Incredible darts….(SPOILERS)
Gurney was excellent, Dobey clinical to knockout the number 1 but the biggest applause goes to Cullen. Not just for beating Price, that’s a great win in itself. But it’s HOW he won. He was clear ahead, then Price caught up and then Cullen started throwing awful darts. Didn’t crumble this time and fought back to win it. The mental part of darts is arguably more important than the physical so to overcome himself then Price was, well, priceless.
what a night, cullen and gerwyn could easily be game of the tournament. Title is up in the air but wright looks good 👀

That Cullen vs Price match was great to watch. Wasn't that good until late in the match, but it was really nervewrecking and Cullen's finishing was amazing
God I love darts! Never know what's going to happen! Did want price to win but now it's wide open if Wright can get into gear he will probs be high contender for me as he can put some high averages an power scoring is up there anyways

Incredible how the doubles are so much more important than the average. Price being out with 11 180s and a 100+ average is astonishingand hard, but also logical as trebles are funny but doubles make the money.

My dad is very weird in some things, one is this, we have to throw for bull until one of us hits at least the outer bull. I need someone to tell him this is crazy thank you!

In regards to the throwing for the Bull, they throw at the Bull and whoever is closer to the Bull throws first.
Literally closest to bull. If they both hit outer bull or bull they throw again until someone wins.
yeah in professional darts someone has to at least hit the outer bull. it doesn't matter if someone hits the wall and the other throws just outside both count as "outside the bullseye" and you have to throw again. but obviously you aren't playing professional darts so I don't see a point in that. just see who's closer and that person starts.
I wonder if Nathan Aspinall would improve his darts if his stance was more stable. To me he seems to lurch forward raising his shoulders as he releases his dart. This is my observation and not a criticism I think he's a a great player and a favourite of mine.
Rob Cross and Chisnall do similar. And MVG leans into his throw. If it works then no need to change.
Humphries is now the favourite but with all who have lost and were favourites, who wants to be favourite....

At this point, anybody could be winning this tournament since the top 3 players are all eliminated, I mean the only person who I can think of winning the World Matchplay at the moment is Wright but other than that there is a good chance we are gonna see a new TV major winner!
Im not ruling him out but personally dont think Peter will do it, theres many fantastic players still left and any one of them could do it.
Van Den Bergh has also won it before, so he's still in with a chance

Probably the best time to be a darts fan, the quality is so high you just don’t what’s going to happen. Phil Taylor was amazing but he made it a bit boring didn’t he?

Gary Anderson is my all time favourite but one thing that annoys me about him is he didn't put the practice in compared to most just naturally gifted the standard of darts these days is unreal if Taylor was in the mixs would never of been as successful I respect him for his talent but not a nice man plus cheated on a mickey mouse Gibraltar tournament
