I agree about the Morris Proctor seminars. I have a yearly subscription and have never regretted it. Also, I agree about the help on the Logos forums. Great video.
Thanks for this video. Been working on an early 2016 12" Macbook, which they don't make anymore. I've been thinking about upgrading. This video helped.
Thanks so much for this video! It really helped me answer the questions I had about how well the M1 will handle Logos. It’s sooooo slow on my current MacBook.
I'm glad it helped. I have a MacBook Pro 13" on order, and should have it around December 10th, and I'll run the same tests on it. I probably won't do another video, but I'll add the results below this video, and on the Logos General forum.
@@onehopefellowshipcommunity9092 Do you have this follow-up that you mentioned? (I realize it was a year ago or so...just wondering because we're considering getting a base M1 Mac Mini and will use Logos on it...)
@@stephenfiore9960 I believe it was a 15” 2015 i7 with 2,4GH and 16GB RAM. Moved in to the 13” M1 Air and while it’s better and doesn’t crash as much, I am honestly disappointed with it. It is still rather slow and takes long to load, especially if you have other programs running. I’m guessing I need more CPU & RAM (have the base model). But it also looks like Logos is still not optimized for M1.
Greg - Thank you for this video. I’ve been using Logos since version 4, and Proclaim for about four years, but on Windows. Earlier this week I bought an IMac 24” and things are a bit different from Windows. Comment - You mention the times it takes to load, but doesn’t WiFi speed matter? Question: on Windows there was a scroll bar below the slides in Proclaim, but I’m not finding it on the IMac. Is it not there, or am I doing something wrong? Thank you for your time and help.
Hi Lonnie, thanks for watching! Wifi might have a small effect on load speed, but I have 50mbs at my church, and 500 mbs at my house, and the load time is about the same. Regarding the scroll bar, the Mac OS hides the scroll bar until you actually start scrolling. How do you do that, you ask? Use two fingers to swipe left or right and you should see the scroll bar appear. Look in System Preferences-Appearance and you should see a Scroll Bar setting that allows it to be always shown. If it's not there (I'm using Ventura and some things have moved) look in the Mouse or Trackpad pane.
@@gplawhorn Greg - Thank you so much for your quick reply. I’m sort of in the boonies, wheat farm country. We don’t have fiber optic internet, so I forget not everyone has the same situation I have. Two years ago we switched to a dish receiver and it improved quite a bit. Due to using Proclaim at my church, and broadcasting (started at the beginning of Covid) we switched the church to the dish as well. As to the scroll bar situation, using an IMac, I don’t think it will work doing the two finger maneuver, but I will give it a try. I was going to get a MacBook Pro, but when they showed me the split-screen feature on the IMac, I went for that. I may miss the portability of a laptop, but I have an IPad Air 2. It’s six years old, I replaced the battery last year, but when it dies, I’ll replace it with an IPad Pro, mainly due to Logos.
Thanks for doing this! I’ve been using Logos on my 2013 13” MacBook Pro and it still chugs along. I’m patiently waiting for the M1 16” MacBook Pro because I want the bigger screen.
I use an iPad Pro 13"; I'm not sure how that compares to the Surface Pro. I've used smaller iPads in the past, but as I get older the larger one is easier for me to use while preaching and teaching.
It's a different operating system, and a different version of Logos, so the results from the Mac don't really apply. I do use Logos on an iPad Pro, but very, very lightly, mainly to preach from, and sometimes to read from.
Thank you so much for this. Your video is much more helpful than speaking to Logos Tech Support. I realize they can't say too much just yet, but they could only tell me to hold off on an M1 until they were ready to roll out a computable version.
Thanks for the video. Answered my most questions. I am still wondering should I go with 8 Gb RAM or 16 GB? Any thoughts? Along with Logos I run few software development tools too.
Greg I have the Macbook air with M1 chip and my Logos software now looks completely different and implified. Have you seen this new layout? I can't find anything and don't know how to locate things or help. No one else seems to be seeing what I'm seeing.???
Hi Ashley - Logos looks like it always has for me, no sudden changes. You might want to take a screenshot and create a post on the Logos 9 forum: community.logos.com/forums/155.aspx.
Hello had Logos since 5, an upgraded to 8. I just bought my MAC Air M1 8GB 526GB. Now that you have had your M1 for 3 months. Logos is using Rosetta. Have you noticed huge amounts of data written to SSD? I'm also assuming you have heard about this? Wondering if I should upgrade to 16GB, or will that make a difference. I bought from Costco so I can return in 90 days, but I'm still within 14 days as well.

Excellent video. Do you think you could have gotten away with the 256 GB instead of the 512?
For Logos, sure. I also do photography, and like to have ample room.
I read those results as slightly slower on cpu stuff and slightly faster on storage stuff.
That’s probably correct - I know not of such things

Do you think de m2 mac air with 10gpu is better for logos or the 8gpu its enough?
Looking at Apple's web site, I don't think they offer the M2 Air with an 8-core GPU; it looks like the 10-core is the only option.
Thanks for the video. Answered my most questions.
I am still wondering should I go with 8 Gb RAM or 16 GB? Any thoughts? Along with Logos I run few software development tools too.
I would get the 16GB - Logos works fine with 8, but other programs (Photoshop, Safari) sometimes bump the ceiling with 8.

According to the DriveDx app, my M1 is still in perfect or almost perfect condition.
