Disco Duckbill exactly people say he is overrated and crap. He does so much more than get 10 disposals a game. It annoys me so much when people say he is overrated.
I believe Stratton's mullet was the difference in the end. The Pies tried to compete by shaving Reidy & Sidey's heads, but it just wasn't enough. I saw Grundy's man-bun come unravelled in the last quarter, but that didn't even help. The Pies need a decent hairdresser. I believe this will help them going forward.
Anyone who says that Mitchell’s disposals were cheap obviously didn’t watch the game. 27 contested possessions, 9 clearances and he was getting in and under the play to get the handball out. People didn’t watch the game and just assume they were nothing disposals. What a champ. Edit: And Collingwood supporters have no clue about the game, they boo for almost every call that didn’t go their way. I umpire and every time they booed to a call I just shook my head, I admit we got some lucky calls as you do every game but Collingwood supporters booed to almost every single one that does go their way. They were booing when Gunston got the free kick when the Collingwood player slid into his knee. As an umpire, the rule is you cannot slide in and take out the knees. I was told by my coaches that even if the player jumps over the slide, you should still call the free for how dangerous it is.
I reckon they were booing the rules committee rather than the umps. It's a stupid rule. What would you have Langdon do? If he stayed on his feet and bent down to collect the ball with an oncoming opponent he risked concussion or worse. He went to ground to protect himself. Why should he be penalised for being first to the ball? His opponent was late enough that he could have jumped over the Pies player, but he chose to trip up just to milk a free kick. Not in the spirit of the game, and not why the rule was brought in. I was at the game, and the 'incident' unfolded right in front of me. I saw it in real time. I wasn't booing, but I understand the frustration. As for Mitchell being over-rated, the media fuelled this crap when they asked the Pies coach last year why he didn't tag him. Mitchell's legacy is tarnished now, and it's disgusting.
david addison what has being first to the ball got to do with anything. I umpire mate and it is clear to any umpire or even just a regular spectator to know that sliding in is so dangerous. It’s that easy to take out your opponents legs, break their leg or another serious injury and their done for the season, it’s that easy and so dangerous. It’s not a stupid rule because it’s there to protect the player. Anybody with common sense knows that the rule is there to protect the player and if someone ends with an injury, then the opponent should be suspended for carelessness. That is a free kick any day of the week to any umpire.
Sozzy is 1 how many times has a player become seriously hurt from a slide towards the ball. I can only think of one in the dogs swan grand final. It didn't happen to often (at least I don't think so) so why make that rule. And when kids play footy in juniors they were always told to be first at the footy. I'm not trying to have a go at you as well if you get that impression
GO HAWKS! What an epic game to start off the season, as well as Tom Mitchell breaking the all-time record for most disposals in a single match with 54!
Tom Mitchell's 54 disposals is a sign of things to come. Although it is foolish to declare someone the Brownlow Medal winner after Round 1, take the past 2 seasons for example. Patrick Dangerfield was best afield in Round 1, 2016, and went on to have a dominant season and claim the Brownlow Medal. Dustin Martin did the same last year, 3 votes in Round 1, a dominant season, and the Brownlow Medal. You can even go back as far as 2009 when Gary Ablett Jnr. won the medal. Three votes in Round 1 and a dominant season. Keep a look out for Tom Mitchell to quite possibly do the same this season. After all, he finished 3rd in last year's count behind Dusty and Danger.
Wet weather footy sucks doesn't it. It took the players an hour to acclimatise. Not til the 3rd qtr did the players kick it off the ground instead of taking possession.
The club felt that his talent was wasted in the forward line. They want him in the thick of play as often as possible, hence the half back line. When the midfield is more trustworthy, and their delivery into the forward 50 improves (they recruited Wells for that very reason) they'll probably put Moore back up there.
I dont really like much of the new players ive always liked the 06-10 roster coming from a Magpie supporter. All the phenomenal greats Didak,Medhurst,Swanny,Presti,Thomas,Beams,Dawes, JohnAnthony,Rocca, Cloke,Jolly etc and thats mainly why they haven't had a good year the rookie players need a bit more practice and Malthouse was a way more better coach.
They still have the same recruiters that set up the 07-11 list. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes not. No luck with Freeman, Scharenberg, Broomhead, Ramsay, Marsh etc. Add to that Cloke, Swan & Brown leaving before their time. I believe we're into our 2nd rebuild under Buckley. The first one was a disaster.
Negative Nemo sorry, but no way was Buckley the greatest Collingwood player ever. Unfortunately Collingwood have a history of replacing successful coaches for the sake of former players. Tom Hafey, Leigh Matthews, etc
Negative Nemo Peter Daicos was an absolute freak. Gordon Coventry kicked 1299 goals. Tony Shaw won his in a winning grand final. Hell Nathan brown was more talented Buckley’s rising start doesn’t count formyour stats, he won it when he played for Brisbane. Also he only won his norm smith because it was the last gf they didn’t wait to the end of the game to finish voting. If they did, Voss would have won
Lol they’re elite athletes, even my u16 team can mark and play great when it’s pouring down in rain, I suggest you just don’t say anything. Because you can’t use the conditions as an excuse.
And because our whole team is crap(except for Pendals and Sidebottam) when we haven't got the ball, Darcy Moore played centre half back, Brayden Manard is useless, we don't have a decent backline, should i keep going? The only good things about last night was debutant Sam Murry that showed potential.
Very astute. I was praying all day for the rain to stop. There will be a few games this year where Cox will be the difference between winning & losing. It doesn't fill me with confidence that our hopes are pinned on a guy who's only played 30 games. He's still 3 years from consistent performance. God help us (or Tom Lynch).
0:53 Cyril, best in the business.
Disco Duckbill exactly people say he is overrated and crap. He does so much more than get 10 disposals a game. It annoys me so much when people say he is overrated.
Tom mitchell is a G.O.A.T!
Mitchell was crazy tonight! (Strattons mullets might also be the best hair in the AFL)

Hawthorn aren't even that good forward line overated
Sozzy is 1 thank you for saying this. Either way no one can deny getting 50 touches in the highest level is amazing

He is a beast!

1 good quarter dosnt win you games
I was watching with one of my Pie mates - he broke the TV remote.
#sackbucks
And Eddie...
The reason why Collingwood lost is because they need to bring back Chris dawes
and Rene Kink
The reason they lost is they still won’t admit they made a mistake by using an untrained amateur as coach
An untrained amateur that didnt lose to brisbane by 9 goals.
sick dog lol did you miss the 2003 grand final?
He was playing you absolute numb nut. What an embarassing comment hahahah
I watched the whole game, so i don't really need to see the highlights. Go Hawthorn!
Cool kid over here. Everyone watch out
The in front?
Tom Mitchell 37 handballs
I've never seen so much fumbles in a match
Wet weather footy sucks doesn't it. It took the players an hour to acclimatise. Not til the 3rd qtr did the players kick it off the ground instead of taking possession.
UP THE HAWKS!!
I like the video 😎😎
Darcy Moore did 👌
Yeah but why tf are they playing him down back? Smh.
Ik

Elmer Fudd could coach better than Buckley.
Anyone can coach better than Buckley

Hey Mason, it's not NFL mate, it's AFL. You can't do that here. You're nicked lol
Hi
Hello there.
#sackbucks
Boooooo hawks
the reason collingwood Lost was because the the conditions where terrible and mason cox can’t mark
yeh the conditions were great for hawks? what are you trying to say? Plus I dont think youll win even if Mason could mark
Lol they’re elite athletes, even my u16 team can mark and play great when it’s pouring down in rain, I suggest you just don’t say anything. Because you can’t use the conditions as an excuse.
