Dear foreigners, as much as i love you - please don't desecrate our national songs - or our history. 'Tamo daleko' is NOT a romantic song... 'Tamo daleko' is a Serbian patriotic song which was composed on the Greek island of Corfu in early 1916, to commemorate strategic retreat of Serbian soldiers, as well as hundreds of thousands of Serbian refuges, starved, sick, exhausted, cold and wounded in major austro-hungarian, german and bulgarian enemy offensive, through the Montenegrin and Albanian mountains during WW1. Along the way they were also attacked by local albanian forces. This retreat is known as 'albanian golgotha'. Between Nov. 1915 and Jan.1916, during the journey across the mountains, 77,455 soldiers and 160,000 civilians froze, starved to death, died of disease or were killed by enemies. Many of those who survived the golgotha and arrived to Corfu island, died soon after. Little island near Corfu, Vido, which was originally organised as a hospital, was turned into the 'island of death'. Since funerals were not practically possible, around 5400 of dead people was buried in the see. The see in this area was named 'blue graveyard'. Out of respect, Greek fishermen were not doing any fishing in this area for the following 50 years. In official government report, 243,877 Serbian people died, were killed or captured by enemy forces during this exodus. Serbian army recovered by April of 1916, and was transported to Solunski front (Salonika Front), where they fought for the next 2 years. Serbian army was pivotal in breaking the front line 2 years later, in 1918. French military reports noted that, during the unstoppable breakthrough that ultimately led to the end of the WWI, Serbian troops marched 17 hours a day. French general Louis Franchet d’Esperey wrote that even the French cavalry was barely catching up, while the enemy Bulgarian soldiers fled in retreat leaving their weapons behind. On September the 29th Bulgaria surrendered. It was a great victory for the Allied forces - 700,000 enemy soldiers withdrew from the war and Germany gave order to retreat. According to the words of German Emperor Wilhelm II, Serbian troops with around 62,000 soldiers delivered the final verdict. In the end, the Serbian army passed around 600 kilometers in 45 days, fighting the enemy and liberating their homeland. Serbia has paid a high price for the victory in WW1: it lost more than a milion of people - almost one third of the population and more than a half of all Serbian men. ~~~~ The song 'Tamo daleko' was labeled as 'nationalistic' in titoist Yugoslavia, and was forbidden after WW2. I grew up in former Yugoslavia, never knowing what the song was about or why it was forbidden - in fact i genuinely believed that the song was a 'hate song', a song against non-Serbian people in Yugoslavia. Not only that, i'm half Slovenian. Having said that, there is absolutely no excuse for tito and his bunch of criminals forbidding the song. They have done many, many horrible things to Serbian people during and after WW2, for which they and their children should have been wiped off the face of this world - but forbidding this song was the lowest act of all. As if torturing and killing Serbian people wasn't enough, they actually tried to wipe out our history, our tragedy and our suffering, deny deaths of over million of people - as well as our victory and glory. I don't have many regrets - falling for 'brotherhood and unity' is one of them. Being a child is no excuse - i should have known better.

It's no secret, it can be found on the internet. Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were one country, Yugoslavia, the kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians. In the early morning of April 6, 1941, on Easter, without declaring war, fascist Germany began a brutal bombarding of Belgrade, the capital of the kingdom, and then many other cities. The occupation of the country with many terrible German crimes lasted 4 years. After heavy fighting, for each street, every house, the capital, Belgrade was liberated on October 20, 1944, by the joint forces of the Yugoslav partisans and the Russian Red Army soldiers
Tertium non datur. Да здравствует Сербия!

Если не секрет - Чем занималась Сербия во время Второй Мировой? Или как это называлось - Югославия, да?
Сигурно руска уметница.
