I just bought a 2021 Escalade Platinum Sport , I honestly can’t compare it to really any SUV we’ve had it’s pretty awesome. I do love Mercedes though , but I really was blown away at all the new things Escalade has come out with.
GLS, X7, Escalade are all fine. Just comes down to brand preference and the deals to be had. Id probably go for the GLS 580, think it’s the best mix of class, style, tech, and overall luxury.
I've been driving the 2020 GLS 450 for over a year. My husband has a 2021 X5 (which we love) and I can attest to the MB having a superior start/stop, it is nearly undetectable. Thought I would hate the feature but I can't even tell it's happening. The EQ boost makes a big difference with gas mileage as this big 4 wheel drive SUV does better than our last front wheel drive minivan. Great review, guys!

Great review as usual. Wanted to add that additional 2nd row and 3rd row air outlets are an option called 5 zone climate control. The car you drove obviously did not have that option. Agree that on a car that size and that luxurious should come standard with those air outlets.

I just ordered mine as well (2023) , I stayed away from all "assist" packages that become annoying at one point, keeping it as simple and elegant as possible.
Just ordered the 2022 gls 450 in emerald green. Checked out the x7 before getting the gls. The Mercedes was so much more spacious. So excited for it to come in!
You’ll enjoy the car, I have a black one which I almost paid $10k markup for. Everything’s great except the plastic wheel arch which I can never get over😹

The X7 also comes standard with a panoramic sunroof and a 3rd row sunroof. The GLS comes standard with a small sunroof, but is optional for a panoramic. No 3rd row sunroof. Also, the GLS kinda goes for a minivan look with not a lot of body lines. The X7 goes for a very stylish look. We went from a 2016 GMC Yukon Denali to a 2021 BMW X7. Let me know if you have any questions about one. I have done all the research 😅

Why would safety systems need an option package at that price point, it’s ridiculous!!!! The government needs to mandate these safety systems in all new cars sold in America. Safety shouldn’t be an option!!!
I ordered mine in red, and gonna darken the chrome front and back on the lower bumper section. Other than that is perfect for me. I didn’t feel the need to spend over 4K on another style bumper.

I was looking for upgrade and narrow it down to 3 final, I was a big escalate fan I was waiting for 2 year to see a new design I love the new interior of the escalate but i was very disappointed to see it looks Just like Chevy Tahoe and suburban GM got cheap out, on many things on Cadillac such as Cadillac emblem and body line of the vehicle, The 2nd choice will be the new BMW X7 It's a beautiful vehicle inside and out definitely I have nothing bad to say about it highly recommended, But I end up with GLS 63AMG it more Bang for your bucks, The craftsmanship of the interior mbux, the new design of the body line the high performance 600+ horse you can't ask for more of the luxury and performing at the same time......so definitely Mercede...👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Auto Stop/Start sucks in AZ as when the Engine cuts off to save Gas, the AirCon also Stops.... Fun when its 111f Out and you are sitting in a $90k Glass Box. Secondly, is that car out of blinker fluid? ;-)
I bought gls 400d 4 matic and it feels like it’s the best car in the world. Interior wise it is perfect and even drive is amazing. In my opinion it’s better than the X7, Volvo XC90 and Escalade
So you are paying 70k for a car just to get forward collision warning and nothing else? Out base model corolla gave us everything standard. That's a shame.
Id argue and say my 2021 bmw m550 has the brightest lights allowed in the us and i hate it 🤣 every night i drive atleast 5 cars flash their lights passing me thinking i have my brights on 😭..so if mercedes claims they have brighter lights, id hate it for night time drivers 🤣
The GLS450 needs help. The AMG sport pack needs to be an option and I can't believe someone painted an old fashioned pinstripe/coach line on this vehicle. WTF?
It doesn't have the presence of the big boys Escalade navigator Denali q80 the real truck suvs the color or trim is not doing anything for this Benz it's looking basic as hell or something smh

I don't think we need to get the government involved but yes at this price point there shouldn't be any options. Options are for Hyundais and Kias.

Yeah…a 25k base Hyundai Sonata has more safety features than a 78k base gls, and same for a bmw x7
