ZB MED explained: DEAL project

The German library world has been intensively involved with the DEAL project for around 10 years. But what is DEAL? Petra Labriga, Head of Strategic License Management at ZB MED, explains the background to the DEAL project, which emerged as a reaction to the rising prices for subscriptions to scientific journals over the decades.
Labriga discusses the course of the negotiations with the various publishers, above all the three major publishers Wiley, Springer Nature and Elsevier, as well as the results of the negotiations and their advantages and points of criticism.
