    Before you react to GBB 2019, I recommend watching the Wildcard Winners announcement, because that's one of a few ways for beatboxers to enter the competition, so usually they use one of their best routines.

    After 2018 tag team, there's a LOT of international competitions before GBB 2019; you don't have to react to all of them but definitely check them out on your own time.
    GBB 2018 (and 2019) 7 to Smoke has some really hype battles, Swissbeatbox has playlists.
    2 months after GBB 2018, there was a competition called LA Cup 2018 with a bracket of 16.
    World champs was first week of August, then the next week everyone went to SBX camp which had a bracket of 8 but also fantasy battles and a 7 to Smoke.
    The next week, many flew to China for an international competition called World Beatbox Classic which also had a bracket of 16. Definitely check the later rounds for that one; the top comment on the final is that it was better than world champs final lol.

    As a heads up between GBB18 and GBB19 was World Champs 2018, an older event of the same size that happened every 3 years. The audio/video production isn’t as good as gbb so I dunno if it’s worth covering the whole thing, but you might want to check out some of Saro’s loopstation battles at that event as it was the last time he competed.

      Got it thanks for giving me a heads up

      @@KDretheGreatyeah, if you thought you liked Saro before, his world champs performance was a few steps up from what it was at GBB 2017.
      Saro single-handedly, completely revolutionized loop station and brought us into a new era at world champs 2018.
      I'm not overselling, I'm underselling 😅 he literally did and I don't have the words to describe it. Maybe you could do a winner's comp of BBBWC 2018 loop station just to get caught up on the progression of looping before 2019?
      Even if you don't make a video of it, it's certainly nice to watch to see WHY loop station progressed so quickly. Saro set a new expectation for looping

    I feel like DLow was objectively better here, based on how the score cards were at the time.
    Codfish had more structure, but that's because he was just repeating a rehearsed, unoriginal track. His control and texture of throat bass is next level, but his percussion technicality is rather poor, even in his basics (other than timing).
    DLow was able to showcase beatboxing at high complexity cleanly, had more variance in his sounds and styles by a landslide, improvised at moments and adapted to a situation when needed, still had structure, and specifically retaliated as to show it's a live battle and they're not just sending pre-recorded audio at each other (which is the vibe I got from Codfish throughout GBB 2018)
    Even though he did come back with "I want my money back", Codfish didn't pop off untill the 2nd half of round 2. I feel like overall, DLow should have won, but that Codfish could have won if he used a similar approach that he used in the 2nd half of round 2 throughout the battle.
    This is the first year I realized that at GBB, you don't have to be better, you have to be a favorite. (Dilip not getting in with his 2019 wildcard, King Inertia questionably beating Helium but making it much further into the competition than what should have been, don't even get me started on Tomazacre... etc). I'm glad they're taking steps to improve it, but still. There's some refinery needed

      I agree, not only is judging beatbox already somewhat subjective, 'hype' around someone definitely affects decisions.
      I'm still not sure why they called 2018 Grand Beatbox 'Showcase' Battle but in my head it's partly because they focused more on the showcase aspect and less battle - just my head canon tho

      Another thing that probably influenced the decision is a lot of people think that Codfish's throat bass and lip roll is his best aspect but in my opinion it's his crowd control.
      People could've seen it as D-Low was there for the tournament and the event (not in a bad way obviously) but Codfish was there to perform for them. I could just be yapping though I don't know because I wasn't in person so I don't know what it felt like.

    For GBB2019 you wont find some quaters, semis and even the finals videos coz Tomazacre was banned and all videos related to him were deleted. But Tomaz was fire that season. You will find all the deleted battles and Tomaz's wildcard posted by other channels please react to them too.

    • @KDretheGreat
      @KDretheGreat  Місяць тому +1

      I’ll try to look for them 👌🏾🔥

      @seircj Місяць тому +1

      @mayurgawali18 Remember that he might not be able to react to any Tomazacre videos from GBB, he might have to react on those off camera. He can find those from older reactions or lower quality reuploads. There are just a few videos on SBX where he might be able to see Tomaz, such as the top 10 drops 2019 solo category or as Sukochi (him tag-teaming with Alexinho for a fantasy battle in 2019). Apart from that he might have to find about Tomaz through other channels.
