I must say I love Northug, and I'm from Sweden. He's a real beast and destroying his opponents. Great work from the entire Norwegian team and I'm glad Sweden did such a good effort and got the silver medal. Media in Sweden trying to get us to hate him, but I can't do anything else but love him for his little fun provocations and stuff :) Congratulations Norway from your brothers in Sweden!
Northug is the best ancherman of all time. He did it in Sapporo 2007, Liberec 2009, Holmenkollen 2011 and now in Val di Fiemme 2013. It's impressive how he can stay on that gold-sprint at the last 200 meters every time for 6 years!
I think he will add 1 more gold medal tomorrow :D Then he will take 3 gold 1 silver just like in Holmenkollen. Except that this time he won the 15 k instead of the pursuit (the 50 k is in classical start this time also).
And hi should have done it in Torino 2006, but the leaders said that hi was too young too represent Norway in the olympics. (PN was 19 at that time) It was a huge debate in Norway that winter sinse hi was domination the Norwegian championship, in january just a month before that championchip. And I think that the leders of the norwegian nationalteam at that time know they did a misstake. The current leader off that team was a expert for TV, hi said "If you are good enough, your old enough".
Not sure why these guys gloat so much in success. Norway is favored to win like 9 out of 10 races in cross-country, and 10/10 relays.. With Sweden and Russia picking up the last little trash that's left behind. This at a stage when the sport should be more competitive than ever. I think cross-country runs the risk of losing traction(already happening..) to biathlon in central europe which would be devastating. That would lead to less sponsors, less prize money, harder to attract the youth. Look at the depth currently in biathlon, despite being a much "fresher" sport that is just now starting to get refined. We should be very careful with the gloating, being dominant in a sport with three or four competitive countries won't be fun forever, at least not in my book. The sport needs Germany, France, Finland, Czechs etc. to be fun and I hope they come back strong.
jodasaatte80 Fact is that even if cross-country skiing ends up being an all Norwegian sport it would still be exciting as hell to watch. Some of the most exciting races all season is NM (Norwegian championships). I don't buy the argument that Norway needs to cool down and not "gloat". It's like Kenyans winning marathons or Bolt beating himself, its still super interesting to see a record being beat. Northug is like Bolt. It should (and does) inspire more than it deters.

I am happy for you. It must be great to live in a country with no expectations what so ever ;)

Well, we got now! :)
