Unbelievable that he charged £900 for that bodge job. He needs to be exposed so others don’t fall into his unprofessional work. I hate cowboys. Hope your solution works Mark 👍 Keep us informed of how it went 🙂👍
Hi Mark, cracking job. If the leak persists i guarentee they haven't sealed between the tile and tray before installing the shower door. Its the most common thing i deal with
@@MJTiffPlumbing Sometimes with the adjustable frames you can loosen the screws and shift it to one side and have enough room to get a silicone nozzle in. But, with that you'd have to reseal the shower screen and you're going to have a nightmare with the vanity unit being in the way. Hopefully it doesn't come to that!
Hi Mark, my old boss whom i started out with was never too shy to charge that kind of money for jobs, he used to find out how much the customers house was worth to work out how much to charge, back to the video in question, i have seen some evil shower tray fitting, those plastic riser legs are a pile of pants!
@@MJTiffPlumbing Apparently he fitted a 15mm vent pipe on a vented cylinder to save copper, and he told the apprentices that it was ok to fit compression fittings under the floors on gas pipework.
I did do a ensuite for someone. becasue i did it from scratch i used a tanking kit. customer already bough hardie backer boards, although ott. I also used the no leaks seal kit around the perimeter of the tray before tiles went on. that way if water ever got past the tiles then it would find its way back in the tray. if i ever do a bathroom or shower I will always use a tanking kit. the tiles just need a fraction of a gap to allow water in, same as with end feed fitting (capillary action).
That's a shame because it looks like a nice ensuite . In my experience if there is any movement in the tray the seal breaks because the trays are such a glossy finish, I would scuff up the edge before installing the tray to make sure the silicone sticks
I would double check the door seal. I had a similar issue a couple of years ago. Checked everything. Resealed everything. Turned out the water was seeping through the door frame running below as the grouting was done after some plonker stuck the cubical on. I can see that the basin is almost stuck tight to that cubical. It's also best checking if you get another leak that it's not seeping out from the frame and under that vanity unit via the wastes and pipes coming up from the floor.
I would also check that there is a silicon joint at the bottom of the wall profile where it meets the tray.. I know it’s a pain to get the door out and reseal it again, but it’s the most common error most fitters make. The water runs down the inside of the wall profile and pours down the back of the tray.. That’s why you should only seal the outside of the profile as they’re generally designed to let the water drain back into the tray at the bottom. Might be worth a look if it still leaks before you have to rip it out..🤷🏼♂️
Yep that’s how a shower screen should be fitted….. however removing this screen can’t be done with the toilet and basin vanity units in place, so it all has to come out to do that…… as said in the video👍🏼
When applying silicone with a gun, push rather than pull - it forces the bead into any gaps as you go. You can always run along again if you need to add more.
Good evening Mark glad you had a good holiday. Shower tray i always play water from a bucket slowly onto tray just in case its the waste seal. To remove tray remove panels remove bottom row of tiles ease away wall to allow tray to move..Refit tray and make good refit tiles and seal. Done this many times in tight spaces.
£900! For that i would have done the job properly first time, took them out for a meal and put them up in a hotel until the sealant cured! Shocking bodge job, glad they've got a real plumber to sort it 👌
Hi Mark hopefully you have it sorted with a re-seal. I too recently discovered multisolve a great addition to have in the van….. as a hobby I make candles and it’s great for removing residue wax from a used jar. It does remove stuff that other cleaners can’t touch..well recommended!
Hi Mark, As i already said after the short film you put out, £900!!!!!! Still can’t believe how someone can charge that amount for that botched job. I know you will have done your best to seal it, I hope it works for that customer. I have never used BT1, if it works on that job I will give it a try, I also will try the multi solve, looks a good product. Another great film, I’m glad your holiday went well, as always take care and have a great week, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
Absolutely crazy that someone charges that amount of money however, if someone did that and asked for £900 why would you pay? If it continues to leak maybe a hand held inspection camera and a small hole in the ceiling below ( if the don't have down lights you can pop out) to see if that point to the problem. Keep up the good work mate 👍
I have used “Classi seal tape on showers and baths for years. I have never had a leak in any installations. You stick it to the edge of the tray before installing, it has a black bitumen type adhesive to stick a blue rubber upstand to the tray and I use a wallpaper edge roller to get a perfect seal. The tiles fit over the rubber upstand and hey presto……a perfectly waterproof joint.
I've had it a few times where people don't silicon behind the show screen wall channels and this causes a leak. Sometimes you can get away with silicon the inside of the screen. Obviously water should be able to run back in, but might be worth trying before ripping out a new bathroom
Not watched the vid fully yet but I have had this issue and it wasn’t to seal around the tray. The weak spot was happening at the 90 degree point where the walls meet. Needed a bead of silicon going vertically to seal the weak spot where the tiles touch
Thanks, Mark, for another, but dear-ree me....that was quite shocking. The original fitter had made an error in laying it all, albeit a minor one possily, and then did little to nothing to remedy it, as to do it properly meant to him to take out the tray at his own expense. As for the 2nd guy....got to be kidding me. That plastic edging was comical, not even sealed, and the gap it exposed made no sense in the process where it was suppose to trap the water from escaping!! And £900 for 1 HOUR??!! With that rubbish that look to have taken something near to 25 mins...they should report him to Trading Standards. Doing it properly WITH the edging should be about £75-£100, especially for 1 hour. and that's IF that's found to be the issue, as there could be elsewhere that's leaking (I'll explain later on). I don't condone the silicone on the tiles but see their logic. What should have happened was exactly what you did; put the water directly on the waste, then the tray, then the tiles individually. Seems whoever went gung-ho and hoped for the best, because even after all of that, neither the original fitter (on his 2nd visit) nor the 2nd guy could have ran the water to test it. With the original fitter, with the issue starting 8 months after installation, something has worn away to allow that water through, and he would have had a better idea of what is the cause with the knowledge of how it was fitted and tested. It could be the case the original fitter did test it after and it looked good then, only for the issue to appear 8 months later. Easier said than doe, but once you've laid a tray step-by-step, and each step is checked well, that each stage is completed good and strong, there should be little to no issues.
I always use Bt1 or Ct1 before Bt1 came out when going to a re seal job , it's the best wet use sealant ive used , if you have moisture behind the tiles etc most sealants will just lift after a while if its not been dried for days first

Have the used silicone to seal the grout between the tiles? Yeah you have mentioned it later in video, looks like the shower base not fitted to the tiles correctly… Can’t believe that they’ve used water proof behind them tiles.
£900???????? wow! I went to a job last year where someone had used 20mm plastic bead but on a wetroom, I had to do pretty much the same, never leaked again just by sealing it properly. I spotted BT1 at my merchants yesterday, what's the difference from CT1?
Personally if I was called out to that job I would have also removed the shower screen. The reason for that is because the seal behind the screen can break down and water will run where the screen, tiles, tray meets. With just sealing the tray and tiles you’re not getting to the rest of it like you would from a new installation. I would also always fit a shower tray with upstands like the Mira flight, so the tiles go into the tray or in worse case if the tray size wasn’t available with upstands always fit the sealing tape kit from Plumb Center. One painter on a transit forum would see how much the house has gone up and how much rent was being paid ( if rented ) and charged accordingly. Personally I used to charge a set amount and it never made any difference to the house I used to be working at.
As I said in the video, this is the quickest, easiest and cheapest way to begin trying to find out what’s going on, due to the design of the bathroom the screen won’t come up without the toilet and basin units coming out….. and that’s a big job. If this doesnt work it’s all coming out..
@@MJTiffPlumbing once the sliding door is taken off the screen fixings and screws will be on the inside of the shower cubicle. It can then be put at an angle and taken out. Good to see good tradesman helping out by doing these videos, in roofing game myself and come across so much bad work its hard to get peoples trust, i know you cant say there name but customers really need to do home work before getting people in ,money is hard enough to come by at this present time .,keep up good work to show people how should be done .
because the shower tray is on riser feet, well I have seen a tray set on breeze blocks!! it may be possible to take the side panel off. and shin your light down there. to see where the water is coming from.
900 quid for that, id of charged double that!!! Serious note, hopefully thats sorted it for the customer. Ive not used ct1 products yet, does the price justify the product compared to similar (fitter not a plumber) do the occasional reseal. Good work mate 👍
@@MJTiffPlumbing no offense against the people but if someone came to my house did that and say £900 I wouldn't pay mybe give the call out charge for the hour and the labour even tho can't take long be to silicone a plastic strip that poor 🙈 how people can do this I will never know
Just a thought is the shower tray bouncing? If it’s been leaking a while any timber it’s sat on are going to be spongy meaning the seals going to split
I see the silicone looks bad , hopefully works out for you, if not could be a rubber boss adapter, do you know roughly where they connect the basin waste and bathroom waste pipe 😅 one of those jobs could be fucked up as we’ll, if the shower tray looks like that already 🙈
If there's nothing obvious usually I'll check the waste or the chanels that the screen fit into. Generally they never silicone behind the wall chanel s where it meets the tray
Well I’ve seen some s*** in my time but that was exceptional! Nice content bud. I use BT1 from time to time, they need to start bringing out colours, even a clear would be good. Have you ever CT1’d a tray Mark?
I am surprised there's been no inspection of the riser kit and floor below. I have seen instances like this where the subfloor is rotten below and allowing the tray to move thus causing the silicone to split. Also behind the screen needs inspecting as that is the most common place to not be sealed / leaking from in my opinion.
Yes, and I understand you can’t guarantee that the silicone will work as you have stated. I was just surprised that you didn’t go into any further inspection.
That was an awful bodge. Just laziness on the part of the 2 previous guys who didn't want to spend a tedious couple of hours scraping it out properly. At least you can eliminate that as a source now, if their is still an issue it must be somewhere else. Feel sorry for the poor customers.
Needs to be tougher sentencing on dodgy tradesmen! £900 is nasty. I wouldnt have paid £9 to the See you next Tuesday. Pity people havent got the time or basic skills to silicone round trays and screens themselves as it's not like installing a new bathroom suite, it's just some silicone, a gun and a profile tool. They could do it themself for under £30
They need to go to trading standards and get their money back, £900 for three strips of plastic and a tube of silicon, unbelievable, I recon that will be ok now, also just a tip, when you apply the bt1 spray the multisolve on top stop the excess silicon sticking to the wall when you wipe off and makes it easier to apply, think there’s a few videos on here, I know PB plumber did one on it.
Another great video, would it be easier to solve problem from the kitchen. Removing the ceiling would surely be less work. 900 pounds for the plastic strip...
@@MJTiffPlumbing yes you always do z good job, I can see from you previous content. Was just a thought. I did it once and it worked rather than everything out..hopefully resealing the tray will work
CT1 Multi Solve showed up today, ordered it to try after your short yesterday. Not sure how anyone can bodge the seal so bad on that shower tray? Seems like there isn't much gap between tile and tray, I've certainly had to seal worse installs (by others might I add!) Looks like you've done a good job there mate 👍
@@MJTiffPlumbing ive always just used the SF nonsense stuff you get in the tub with the brush and a Stanley knife to remove the majority of it.. but that stuff looks really good.
I had a job after Christmas, someone had used WOODEN trim around a bath! She had mushrooms growing underneath and the entire floor / ceiling needed replacing! I must say i never know why people dont start the first full tile off the tray so its a neat edge? You should name and shame the 900 quid rip off merchant!
Only way to fit the tray so it doesn’t leak is to start the tiling from the floor up then drop the tray in after ,then silicone the gap between the tiles and tray , no movement when someone is showing and the silicone seal doesn’t move or shrink 55 year in the trade
@@MJTiffPlumbing Agree, All the Tray manufacturers instructions I've ever seen actually tell you not to fit a tray onto a wall tiled past the tray, it's always fit tray, bonded with silicone to the wall(s), seal joints of tray to wall, then tile and seal again between tile and tray, also the Quality and type of silicone used is important, use a good quality trusted brand and use acetoxy silicone.
Absolutely disgusting, Mark Some people have no no conscious. Must admit, though, why would anyone pay that sort of money for a job of that quality . Been using multi solve for around 10 years now. Got plenty of other uses aswell. Great gor removing stickers.
Clucking bell, HOW MUCH? Like you I have had to sort umpteen badly installed trays but you win with that one. I bet there is no silicone behind the wall profiles and was the door sealed from the inside? Why don’t people read the clucking instructions?
£900 ...absolute joke, how can somebody do that to someone and sleep at night...Ridiculous.Must of used £900 worth of silicone lol.Great Video as always Mark👍
If the shower tray isnt supported sufficiently it needs a rip out, best thing to use when doing these installs is to use abacus no more leaks around the shower tray then sit the final row of tiles on top of the tray easy as pie
Oh my word! My 8 year old boy could have glued that plastic trim in better than that, and he would have done it for half the price 😂🤣 But the big question is, "WHY"? Why would anyone even think of putting that stuff on a shower tray? He used two or three times the silicone needed to reseal the tray (maybe more), and completely F-ed up a simple job. I really wish a lot more of these "Cowboy's" could be "Named and Shamed".
900quid im gobsmacked, always think one of the biggest reasons silicone fails and splits is movement but that tray seems solid, strange one hope its sorted it with your decent resealing job, ct1 bt1 is decent stuff, excellent work
The whole issue with cowboy trades people is there is no regulations to prevent them from setting up and working. We should have a permit and licensing system in place to try and stamp this out. Issued by an official source and have been assessed in their field of expertise. Reviewed either annually, 3 or 5 yearly. Yes it adds cost but it could reduce the number of cowboys out there. Discuss
I would of put the wall tiles on after the shower tray was put in. Putin plenty of silicone around the perimeter of shower tray, then tile over it leaving..minimum gap.
Get the customer to show your footage to Trading Standards. He may then get from the cowboy, his £900 back and also the money he’s paid you to put the job right. It always gets me why people use a material, that requires 2 beads of silicone to seal it. Instead of a single bead of silicone!
There needs to be national scheme where all tradesmen and women have to be registered and assessed every five years with clear charges or ones that are predetermined and accepted by the customer and recorded. Not easily written but reputation and image counts.
£900...That beggars belief! Hopefully You have done the trick. But I can't help feeling you'll be back there Mark to take the tray out. It's probably plasterboard and not elements board or something similar, behind the tiles. I personally use "No more leaks" shower tray sealing kit, never had a problem. Hey ho, as you said, You can only give it a go. Good luck mate. R
Needs the screen taking out really to check it’s sealed behind the profiles, if it’s not no matter how much you seal it up, water will run behind the profile and underneath the tray in the corner
Yer I know that buddy…. Unless you know for deffo that the issue you start at the easiest point for the customer. To get that screen out all the vanity units etc are coming out….
I have to say that’s a proper bodge job done by previous bloke… £900 quid though. I don’t wanna judge anyone here but didn’t the customer question that? I meen even if your not in the trade surely you would question that amount. Unless customer is elderly or vulnerable then that’s worse but wow £900 for what my 4 year old could have done! Have you watched the whole video????
Ct1 recommend using the multi solve as a tooling lubricant, stops it sticking where you don't want it to!
Indeed it does
In circumstances as above, would you recommend that a customer takes the previous guy to the small claims court? Or do you keep out of things like that. I was thinking that your video would make great evidence for a court.
I just advise them and get what I need to done….
If it needs to go to court I will submit the video
I run a membrane like kerdi band over the pan flange bonded with kerdi fix then waterproof membrane over the entire wall and band.
👍🏼👍🏼
I use the same system, works every time 👍
Hi Mark, if the tray is not fitted underneath the tiles, it can be the problem.
It can be yes, this is fitted under the tiles…..
Good to see good tradesman helping out by doing these videos, in roofing game myself and come across so much bad work its hard to get peoples trust, i know you cant say there name but customers really need to do home work before getting people in ,money is hard enough to come by at this present time .,keep up good work to show people how should be done .
Thanks buddy… Appriciate that
Fingers crossed Mark hope the CT1 works. What a cluster f - - k of a bodged job, can’t believe it cost the customer £900.
So bad isn’t it
because the shower tray is on riser feet, well I have seen a tray set on breeze blocks!! it may be possible to take the side panel off. and shin your light down there. to see where the water is coming from.
👍🏼👍🏼…… if that basin unit wasn’t jammed against it that would be perfect🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
You have to congratulate them for doing it so badly..... because that takes a lot of effort to be so thick !
Hahahaah so true
How on earth did he talk them into paying him £900 for some corner trim? Sounds like an expert con man nevermind plumber.
He certainly was
You’ve approached it exactly the same way I would of mate, was thinking ct1/bt1 for a bit of strength to it too, we just love the cowboys hey pal 😂
Some rough ones out there!!!
900 quid for that, id of charged double that!!!
Serious note, hopefully thats sorted it for the customer. Ive not used ct1 products yet, does the price justify the product compared to similar (fitter not a plumber) do the occasional reseal.
Good work mate 👍
CT1 stuff seems to be pretty good so far
That was shocking mate 😂 poor people paying out £900 for a bath strip and then he silicon over the tiles 🙈🙈 super bodge 😢
So bad isn’t it
@@MJTiffPlumbing no offense against the people but if someone came to my house did that and say £900 I wouldn't pay mybe give the call out charge for the hour and the labour even tho can't take long be to silicone a plastic strip that poor 🙈 how people can do this I will never know
Just a thought is the shower tray bouncing? If it’s been leaking a while any timber it’s sat on are going to be spongy meaning the seals going to split
Seems solid enough…. Even with me in it😉
Also, it normally leaks behind the shower door profile (more often than not).
Yep, however you start with the cheapest easiest fix and go from there👍🏼👍🏼
All I can say is that the second 'plumber' had some balls to go for £900 for that mess....
Shocking isn’t it
Take him to court.
clear silicone on tile joints... that's a first for me too! you just know it's going to peel off or go cloudy....
Never seen it before till this job…..🤯
I see the silicone looks bad , hopefully works out for you, if not could be a rubber boss adapter, do you know roughly where they connect the basin waste and bathroom waste pipe 😅 one of those jobs could be fucked up as we’ll, if the shower tray looks like that already 🙈
Could be anything buddy
If there's nothing obvious usually I'll check the waste or the chanels that the screen fit into. Generally they never silicone behind the wall chanel s where it meets the tray
I tested the waste as said in the video…
Without major works removing the screen this was the easiest “try” first
Well I’ve seen some s*** in my time but that was exceptional! Nice content bud. I use BT1 from time to time, they need to start bringing out colours, even a clear would be good. Have you ever CT1’d a tray Mark?
Yep I’ve used CT1 a few times on trays when needed👍🏼👍🏼
I am surprised there's been no inspection of the riser kit and floor below. I have seen instances like this where the subfloor is rotten below and allowing the tray to move thus causing the silicone to split. Also behind the screen needs inspecting as that is the most common place to not be sealed / leaking from in my opinion.
Did you listen to the video??
Yes, and I understand you can’t guarantee that the silicone will work as you have stated. I was just surprised that you didn’t go into any further inspection.
NAME AND SHAME THE 2 scammers!!! Save others from their incompetence.
It’s been that long now
That was an awful bodge. Just laziness on the part of the 2 previous guys who didn't want to spend a tedious couple of hours scraping it out properly.
At least you can eliminate that as a source now, if their is still an issue it must be somewhere else.
Feel sorry for the poor customers.
Yer and me, they just didn’t know what to do so I said I will get it sorted 👍🏼
Looking at that straight away I can tell it’s not the seal, surely it’s then trap thats leaking or pipes
Well you are wrong…. 3 months later and what I did sorted the issue….. it was the horrific seal that was the issue😉👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing wow very unusual to see, that plastic trim was truly horrendous
They could do it themself for under £30
So bad isnt it
They need to go to trading standards and get their money back, £900 for three strips of plastic and a tube of silicon, unbelievable, I recon that will be ok now, also just a tip, when you apply the bt1 spray the multisolve on top stop the excess silicon sticking to the wall when you wipe off and makes it easier to apply, think there’s a few videos on here, I know PB plumber did one on it.
I’m always very weary of spraying onto new sealant to be honest
When you do the new silicone, spray multi Solve over the new silicone and it stops the excess sticking to the tiles and tray.
I’m not a massive fan of over spraying silicone tbh
Another great video, would it be easier to solve problem from the kitchen. Removing the ceiling would surely be less work. 900 pounds for the plastic strip...
Ceiling below is removed and no access…. Would have to all come out to do it right unfortunately
Seems like there isn't much gap between tile and tray, I've certainly had to seal worse installs (by others might I add!)
Looks like you've done a good job there mate 👍
Time will tell…. Will keep you posted
never come across that multi solve spray. that's in my shopping basket now.
Really good stuff to be fair
@@MJTiffPlumbing ive always just used the SF nonsense stuff you get in the tub with the brush and a Stanley knife to remove the majority of it.. but that stuff looks really good.
@@JayG2K+1 for the no nonsense stuff. I threw away a can of multi solve it really disappointed me tbh.
Silicone on top of grout… unbelievable! I find the spray on grout sealer works very well
So so bad
I had a job after Christmas, someone had used WOODEN trim around a bath! She had mushrooms growing underneath and the entire floor / ceiling needed replacing!
I must say i never know why people dont start the first full tile off the tray so its a neat edge?
You should name and shame the 900 quid rip off merchant!
Wow….. mushrooms!!!!!
Only way to fit the tray so it doesn’t leak is to start the tiling from the floor up then drop the tray in after ,then silicone the gap between the tiles and tray , no movement when someone is showing and the silicone seal doesn’t move or shrink 55 year in the trade
Nope, I’ve never done that and never had a shower tray leak……
It’s all about doing the job correctly 👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing Agree, All the Tray manufacturers instructions I've ever seen actually tell you not to fit a tray onto a wall tiled past the tray, it's always fit tray, bonded with silicone to the wall(s), seal joints of tray to wall, then tile and seal again between tile and tray, also the Quality and type of silicone used is important, use a good quality trusted brand and use acetoxy silicone.
👍🏼👍🏼
Absolutely disgusting, Mark
Some people have no no conscious.
Must admit, though, why would anyone pay that sort of money for a job of that quality .
Been using multi solve for around 10 years now.
Got plenty of other uses aswell.
Great gor removing stickers.
So so bad isn’t it mate….
Was pleasantly surprised how good the multisolve was
Clucking bell, HOW MUCH? Like you I have had to sort umpteen badly installed trays but you win with that one. I bet there is no silicone behind the wall profiles and was the door sealed from the inside? Why don’t people read the clucking instructions?
Exactly that mate
It’s always a horrible position to be in when your asked to put someone’s work right 👍
These people fully understood and want it sorting
@@MJTiffPlumbing 👍👍
Can't believe they charged 900 pounds for that botched job and I can't believe they paid it !
Unreal isn’t it mate
£900 ...absolute joke, how can somebody do that to someone and sleep at night...Ridiculous.Must of used £900 worth of silicone lol.Great Video as always Mark👍
So bad isn’t it
Jesus, probably done a fast track weekend plumbing course!
Absolutely terrible job 😤
Shockingly bad
Tip for that bt1 use the silicone spray then smooth it
Yep…. However I’m not a huge fan of overspraying silicone
You are having a giant giraffe! 900 quid!!! That is disgusting. If that guy was a plumber, I'm Marylin Monroe.
Shocking isn’t it
If the shower tray isnt supported sufficiently it needs a rip out, best thing to use when doing these installs is to use abacus no more leaks around the shower tray then sit the final row of tiles on top of the tray easy as pie
I never fitted it mate so that would all be speculation……
However a month in now and it’s fine with my fix👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Oh my word!
My 8 year old boy could have glued that plastic trim in better than that, and he would have done it for half the price 😂🤣
But the big question is, "WHY"? Why would anyone even think of putting that stuff on a shower tray? He used two or three times the silicone needed to reseal the tray (maybe more), and completely F-ed up a simple job.
I really wish a lot more of these "Cowboy's" could be "Named and Shamed".
So bad isn’t it….. thankfully it’s all fine now after my repair
Some trays have a raised edge on three sides
Yep and some have them on 4 sides 👌🏼👍🏼
900quid im gobsmacked, always think one of the biggest reasons silicone fails and splits is movement but that tray seems solid, strange one hope its sorted it with your decent resealing job, ct1 bt1 is decent stuff, excellent work
Thanks buddy…. Yep I agree👍🏼👍🏼
whats wrong with that
if the stupid customer pays it it there fault
The whole issue with cowboy trades people is there is no regulations to prevent them from setting up and working. We should have a permit and licensing system in place to try and stamp this out. Issued by an official source and have been assessed in their field of expertise. Reviewed either annually, 3 or 5 yearly.
Yes it adds cost but it could reduce the number of cowboys out there. Discuss
Completely agree
That is unbelievable £900 ffs how do they get away with it they should be named and shamed great video Mark
So bad isn’t it
I would of put the wall tiles on after the shower tray was put in. Putin plenty of silicone around the perimeter of shower tray, then tile over it leaving..minimum gap.
Yep that’s how it should be done 👍🏼
Those little silicon profiles are still the best £12 I ever spent
😉👌🏼
Nothing worse than telling a customer "you've been had off"
Yep
£900 jeeez, great you can help them out Mark, hope it works for your customer, sounds like they have spent enough on it already, great job 👍
They are really at the end of there wit with it all
Get the customer to show your footage to Trading Standards.
He may then get from the cowboy, his £900 back and also the money he’s paid you to put the job right.
It always gets me why people use a material, that requires 2 beads of silicone to seal it.
Instead of a single bead of silicone!
Completely agree
I’d have heard some cowboy plumber were using their spit instead of solvent cement!😳
That won’t stick!!!
obsecene amount of money to pay for a repair hopefuly your input has resolved the leak
Yep…. Shocking
There needs to be national scheme where all tradesmen and women have to be registered and assessed every five years with clear charges or ones that are predetermined and accepted by the customer and recorded. Not easily written but reputation and image counts.
100% agree
That clear silicone around the grout is criminal. Poor people obviously have no clue. These people that do these things are not tradesmen
Really bad isn’t it
Always a pain when someone fs it up and you got to fix it. Me personally I’m done with that. It’s a new shower or you call the last guy😅
Sometimes you try and help people that are at the end of it with it all before doing the worst case scenario and taking it all out
£900...That beggars belief! R
I think I will be aswell……. Unfortunately
My bet is that the tray isn’t bedded properly and is flexing slightly whilst in use causing the silicone joint to fail over time.
I would take that bet😉
@@MJTiffPlumbing do you think it’s just a poor silicone job then?
Take it easy mate !
So bad isn’t it…….
Thats literally robbery charging that i think the customers willing to pay and accept dont help either. I was working up near your way last week nice area.
It’s when people don’t know what they should be paying sometimes
Sometimes their leak on glass panel on shower door frame but that total wrong what the cowboy charged
Indeed they do
Mate spray some soapy water on your silicone bead before you wipe it off it will be a lot easier to silicone up 🤙👍
I’ve never been a fan of doing that tbh……
@@MJTiffPlumbing fair enough every one has their own ways
How the fuk can anyone stand back and say I've done a good job there.
Had a few like that myself were need to strip out and start again
So bad isn’t it
that's one of the worst bodges I have ever seen and to charge that is disgraceful. Don't know how they sleep at night after doing that.
Completely agree mate!!!!!
That previous work was done by Brian Odge and Clive Owboy.
🤣🤣
Blame the fast track training factories churning out poorly trained plumbers
I blame rubbish rip off cowboys out there that know better
Even before I started my NVQ this year I wouldn't have done that, that's just someone with absolutely no pride in their work.
Trust me mark that bodge is nothing compared to some of the cowboy work I see on a weekly basis people have no shame 😮
It’s so so bad
£900 mate no words wow great video mate
So bad isn’t it
Love CT1 can't get on with BT1. too thick
CT1 is a lot thicker than BT1 and it’s an adhesive not a silicone…..
