  • Archive Moto presents Harley-Davidson Racing, Daytona Beach 1920
This episode is based on remarkable and exceptionally scarce archival film footage from the golden age of American motorcycle racing. It was originally taken as members of the famed Harley-Davidson Wrecking Crew attacked the sands in Daytona Beach, Florida to best most every existing land speed record in the books. There are so very few films left from this period in racing history, so it is with great pleasure that it is presented here with added contest, photos, and research.

I wish Harley was more competitive in flat track nowadays. They seem to be lagging behind Indian and Yamaha.

They dominated for a half century, but racing used to convert to sales more readily in those days, but that is also when a Harley didn't cost a teachers annual salary. Indian sure has leveraged that side of things well though, would love to see Harley take a page from that book too.

@@ArchiveMoto Indian is the only company making a street legal, flat track inspired bike that I know of. They gained a lot of respect in my book when they released it. I hope to own an FTR some day.

Agreed, those caught my eye when they debuted and I've yet to give one a go, but definitely on my list.@@magellanicspaceclouds
