The way I see it is just because the person you deceive is an idiot doesn’t make it ok. The seller knew what they were doing with the sticker. Obviously the buyer needs to be more careful but Just because they didn’t know that the authentic grade and weird sticker spot was a red flag doesn’t make it ok to be a scumbag.
I agree but before throwing down $7,500 for a authentic card buyer must do some due diligence in questioning why authentic and flip card over where even a blind man would see the ding on back even if front is covered
They knew what they were doing. If the card isn't damaged card can always be submitted again. Too much money spent to not do a dummy check. When I was a truck driver, anytime before i got into the truck, I did a dummy check to make sure everything is in order. It shows desperation when you use a sticker to hide damage.
I agree but card was authentic why didn’t buyer question why it wasn’t graded and a basic flip over you would have seen that damage from behind. Buyer thought I won’t point out what a steal this is and buy it and grade and flip. Seller was scummy and buyer didn’t care about his money to look over card. I don’t have money to waste so any card over $50 I look over to see if there damage but to buyer 7,500 for upgraded card wasn’t worth a look over

There are a lot of people who find cards underpriced and blindly take a gamble hoping it’s not damaged … they don’t check for damage in front of the dealer because it tips off the dealer how interested u are and your intent/purpose
If I come to your table to buy, I shouldn’t have to remove all price stickers to check for damage. That’s ridiculous. This dealer is a scum bag and should be called out.
Both are at fault IMO but what this seller did was just scummy and I am shocked nobody will bring the sellers name out public. The ultimate penalty for this seller is to be known for what he did when he shamefully sets up at shows.
If I seen a price tag in the bottom right corner of a card I'd be suspicious, who puts price on the bottom? heck covering any corner or part of the edges I'd want to check it over closer, especially if paying more than $20 for a card... And if the seller has other cards and this is the only one that has a tag on the bottom right. And also any PSA card that is in a slab but doesn't have a grade tells you it's damage... so there's many red flags for the buyer... Obviously the seller shouldn't be trying to hide it either, but meh, a fool and his money are easily parted :P
The first thing i noticed was there was no grade.... Buyer should have done homework. Also the seller is not in it for the hobby... Just making dirty deals. This is just my opinion
The eBay consignment seller sold the card raw July 2 with no disclosure of damage for over $8900. They listed card as excellent condition which it’s far from. The description says all cars are free of major defects unless specified in title. The card then appears to have been sent to PSA for authentication and resold with consignment company listing damage for just over $4400 August 5. In my opinion, the first sale was shady for lack of disclosure and I wouldn’t doubt there was shill bidding happening. It would be interesting to check out both sales checking for signs of shill bidding. Thank you for great video.
The reality is whoever put the price tag on it was dishonest and the buyer was partially dishonest bc he knew it was underpriced and tried to take advantage … I’m sure the dealer he bought from was also scammed … he probably thought it was mint and traded at full value instead of trading at the 4500 damaged comp
Much smaller purchase, but i bought a $50 card that was in a top loader. I recieved the card and noticed a severe dent in the card. I pulled up the auction photo and saw that there was glare RIGHT where the damage was. The seller mader sure to angle the card to use reflection of light on the top loader to cover the damage, and no mention in the description. One of the few cards I returned over the years.
Still interested to know who the seller was. Interestingly, the ebay seller who listed the psa auth copy (with damage disclosed), had also sold the damaged card raw, without disclosure. $4500~ with disclosure, $9000~ without.
It is shady that the seller did that unless of course you look at their case and every sticker is placed on the bottom right corner of each card. Do I think that was the case? Na… I think they knew exactly what they were doing and that is messed up. Would have been some kind of red flag that it in an Authentic slab and not graded.
