  • Adding score to my 2010 tutorial. There were many comments about notes being different, etc. That is why it would be better with a score on top, even a so-so version. The publishing house editions are not in public domain. Oops, near the end where I notated A major scale, it is a C-sharp minor scale, same as the key signature, of course!

    Hello Jane! Do you have any tips for playing those right hand trills? Although I am almost comfortable with playing the fast runs; however, I still can't figure out how to do those trills near the beginning!! I have tried with 2-3, 1-3, 2-4, but to no avail. Interestingly, I have no issues playing trills with left hand, but that won't work here. My playing just goes flat after a couple of seconds, and I am just hitting the second note, even though both fingers are in constant motion. In short, I just can't keep up playing it for a prolonged period regardless if I play fast or slowly 😐.

    • @janepianotutorials
      @janepianotutorials  5 років тому

      The number of turns is not fixed. Try this with the trill in measure 5. Fit these group of RH notes to the LH: F#G# / F#G# / F#G#F# / EF# (those last 2 tiny notes). As you get more skilled you can try 3 RH notes to 1 LH note, or 4 RH notes to 1 LH note. Practice very slowly with a metronome set to the LH.

    Jane I appreciate your time to make this clear, I’m new ( less than year) in the piano, if u don’t mind I’d like to ask u about the 15 measure, when it comes 2v3 (polyrhythms), I don’t have troubles with the rhythm when I’ll try with the same notes from the sheet in the LH and unique note in de RH hand, but when I use the full notes on my RH hand I can’t get it, sometimes I broke the notes from the RH hand and they aren’t triplets, anymore and also sometimes when I keep the triplets, I’m so slow in the LF Hand and the duplets sound to close, :/, I wonder if you know any exercise to make it!!!!!

      Scrolled through the video, @6:32, counted more than 6 octaves. we need a full-size keyboard for this and most classical pieces. Hope you can save up for one. You can still practice on yours in the meantime, just shift your hands up or down an octave when necessary. Good luck!

      many are able to learn by imitation and memorizing. experiment with a short section? in the meantime, start my sight-reading lessons. reading is simple if you understand the principle. of course, to get good at it takes practice.

    My difficulty is going fast with those quick notes

    • @janepianotutorials
      @janepianotutorials  4 роки тому

      Practice just that part. Force yourself to obey a metronome, set it to your ok speed. When few mistakes, tick it up 2 bpm. You won’t even realize you’re playing faster. Soon you would reach tempo.

      Did you learn it? A new comment brought me back here. Perhaps you meant the scale portion also. Google search C-sharp Minor scale along with my name?

      Do you ever wonder why different editions show different fingering? Reason it out

  • @SuperInternetuser
    @SuperInternetuser 3 роки тому

    One of the editions on imslp has fractions on top of the right-hand notes in bar 19 around 3:22. What does such notation mean?

    • @janepianotutorials
      @janepianotutorials  3 роки тому

      Don’t know. Which editor? I’ll take a look. Am guessing those are fingering change numbers, e.g., 1/5 means play the note with your thumb, hold down the note while switching to the pinky. That keeps the flow.

    I don’t mean to be critical, but I am a piano teacher. Playing something in slow motion with no comments is not a good piano tutorial. For a good piano tutorial on learning this posthumous Chopin Nocturne please see the tutorial posted by Paul Barton. It is brilliant, and so helpful.

      Thanks for caring, but this Yamaha is more than 40 yrs old, and I'm not going to spend thousands rebuilding it. My tutorials are not for listening enjoyment. They are for occasional reference for those following the sheet music. The audio is unnecessary because all one has to do is watch my fingers move :)
