"To be great, You need to practice 40 hours a day" - Feng Zhu
😂
Bruh ngl I thought this was serious like how
@@PrinceVegetaedtzzYeah, there is no way its possible without 46 hours a day!
the most part of being a great artist its just being smart
i am like wht u think i am gonna sleep 8 hrs
This is so much work, you're basically speedrunning what I've done in probably years. Discipline and practice are important, but I wonder how people don't completely burn out in school before they even start working.
oh an enormous amount of them do burn out
@@reltcstone2 LOL me for 3 years after art school
I was burnt out after a year (I left) and thankfully found work soon after but otherwise I probably would have worked in another domain (which I do now though ;) )
We do burn out lol, after graduating I stopped doing art for 3 years, only recently started to get interest in art again and started doing illustrations.
Don't worry. With enough bills and stress piled up. You'll keep going. Or else you'll starve. Good luck 👍
This is so useful for all of the self-taught people out there! Thank you so much!
I agree.😊
Thanks so much for watching! :D
Yep I’m coming up with my own curriculum using her videos, they’re so helpful with getting disciplined
@@DanifloartI’m doing the same thing! Are you open to sharing the curriculum you came up with?
As someone who went through 4 years of a BAA Animation degree and doing 3D modelling post for a masters (and now works in film), you gained 70% of the same skill set as a crossover animators would, you draw extremely well as your program had a GREAT base for getting non-artists up to snuff. By end of term 1 you were drawing on a high level for design & technical so don't think you're a bad artist by any means as your final renders are professional grade and could pass in the tv/film industry.
Great video, home to watch a few more down the road.
We need more FZD STUDENT videos, you’re videos are the only ones I can find from this school.😞☹️
Just finished my first year of concept art school and it's so interesting seeing the differences in terms of assignments and time given for everything.
But now I'm scared of falling behind
btw you're doing great!
Thanks for the support! Always wondered how other curriculums differed since fzd is only a one year course 🤔 Would have been nice to have more time to absorb the content tbh
The fact that you weren’t allowed rulers for perspective is so crazy to me! You did an amazing job at it, your 3D work, literally all your work is so good (I keep updating my comment as I’m watching since everything just keeps being so good lol) Thank you for the vid, I feel encouraged to keep drawing. I just finished my first year of a concept art course and I definitely feel like I have a long way to go (‘:
Awe thanks for the kind words! Aye art is a life long journey :) Hope you are enjoying your course, keep going!
Ditching rulers while learning perspective is a good idea. Intuitive perspective and the ability to draw freehand straight lines is so useful
I started drawing like 6 months ago and thanks to you I got to peek into what's going on in a more professional field. I have to say you're amazing, like, I couldn't draw anything like that for the life of me, yet coming from a totally different field you did such an amazing work in the first term. You're very inspiring
Thanks so much, means a lot! :)
You cant draw like that YET! Practice practice practice, study study study!
The growth is amazing! I was obsessed with Feng Zhu's videos in 2012 after quitting art school. It's 2023 and I'm a mechanical engineer and I've never stopped applying his philosophies like your perspective coursework. It takes A LOT of unpaid time/labor to master your software, but It will all pay off once you start working on your own projects!
First Artist i see on youtube who doesnt do the good old "ugh, every art school sucks, its all useless" bla bla, great to see you atleast learning a bunch of shit taht 90% of twitter artist dont know off. Awesome video, didnt thought i would stick to it as a vfx artist but was cool.
Thanks for the support!
I am really honest with you. I wanted to go to FZD so bad back in 2020 and then a ot of things besides the pandemic happened and I could't leave the country. I always yearned for the experience and knowledge that you get at FZD , so making these videos is absolutely invaluable to me!!
kinda sad it closed down. i was planning to head there after my service time. covid really sucked.
Please do more videos about your other terms! This is a very helpful and well edited video. (I also like your tattoos!)
Thank you! :)
As someone who heavily thought about going to his school, its awesome to see and hear about the courses and practice. Good luck and congrats! Amazing work!
Thanks for watching! 💕
Loved seeing the progression in skill and complexity. We did something very similar in Industrial Design school. Brought me back to the foundations classes!
omg it looks so intense but it definitely looks like they are really gearing you up for success! I used to inhale all of Feng Zhu's videos on youtube back around 2014... like nonstop 😅i'm focused on oil painting nowadays and digital on the side but I remember bits of his art advice from watching his videos that still hold strong in my brain to this day
His videos were the best! That’s so awesome that you’re doing oil painting, I would love to get into more traditional mediums myself.
Dude, I've been going to art school in the US for four years, and from what you've described, youve learned more in your first term (which is presumably 4 months??? omg?) than I have in all my time. This is super helpful seeing what yall are doing so that I can push myself beyond my education, thank you!!
yeah having been to four different art schools, what you learn all depends on who you are learning from and what school you're at.
@@reltcstone2 Absolutely agreed. I've had professors help me massively and some that taught me absolutely nothing, but sometimes the most I learn is just through youtube honestly!
As a self taught professional, that was really interesting to see! Appreciate you sharing 🤙
Thank you for watching! ❤
FZD is torture is what i hear of every concept art prof out there, this is insane! i'm jealous and grateful at the same time as another concept artist student
Haha yes it was very intense, but imo worth it!
Gorgeous work, I love seeing how much detail you put into the little things. All those lines look so precise.
You should be very proud of all the work you've done! As someone who also just finished a term of art school you have definitely gone above and beyond! Amazing work
Thanks for the kind words, hope you're having a good time in art school :D
@@niatora Thank you!
Wow this was amazing to watch!! it is HEAVILY Inspiring to see your work and what they teach at FZD, would love to see more drawings!
This is so interesting! Seeing the exercises and how you really applied them and improved your art really makes me want to apply to FZD right now. Please make a video on terms 2 and 3!
Thanks so much for watching :)
thank you so so so so much for sharing this, i can't wait for the next terms!!!
OMGGG I LOVE your work!
I've been drawing off and on for years, and I can see how much dedication it would have taken to just make it through. The number of hours you would have had to put into each page makes me tired just thinking about it. Thank you for sharing.
I was once obsessed with FZD and I used to do all these workout just on my own. There is still a podcast that I go back to from Feng " Learning on your own " just to get some inspiration when I feel not working . btw great content Nia !
Yesss love relistening to his old podcasts ❤️ Thank you so much for the support!
Wow, I really love what you shared! As someone studying in an art school myself, I can totally relate. While there are definitely frustrating moments along the way, the rewards are far greater than you can imagine. Your sharing has given me a lot of inspiration and motivation to keep pushing forward!"
Yup it’s all worth it in retrospect haha. Keep going and enjoy the process! :D
this is so cool, the overwatch details and your attention to detail are just *chefs kiss
I just subbed because of this video. I really appreciate you taking the time to talk thru the terms as individual events.
Thanks for the support! ❤️
Oh my god this is INSANE?? I absolutely love all the work you did 🤧🤧
Thanks so much, means a lot ❤️
These videos about your FZD school experience are great! Both practical and mental side stories. And thanks for sharing the Conceptual Ink Academy channel, haven't heard of it yet!!
thanks for watching! ❤
This has been a really great insight! Looking forward to more updates on your progress in the future.
Thanks for the support :)
This was super helpful! Thank you for taking the time to share with us! :)
Aw thanks for the support! ❤️
This info is SO valuable. Thankyou for putting it together! It's crazy how much you improved in such a short amount of time. Props to you for having the willpower you did to stick it out.
thanks for the support
Such a nice chat! I was actually really curious about FZD and how the terms look like in depth (task/material wise) and you covered it very well. Still hoping to get there one day ;_;
Can't wait for more videos :D!
thanks for watching! :)
Good lord. This is just 13 weeks? You are insane. Beautiful.
Thank you for the support! ❤
Thank you for this video it was very inspiring, I used to watch FZD design cinema back when I was in college. I wish I had the chance to go there, so seeing this was very cathartic. I was wondering for the next videos could you also include a section where you mention the deadlines? If you could breakdown the time management system you used and the time allowed for every assignment, that would be amazing. Really liked your video and your personality you display through the editing, thank again.
Thank you for sharing this. The FZD videos are amazing but they are a bit intimidating and overwhelming with how much content is packed in them. It's hard to determine where to start to develop skills to get to that level. Your video reveals that process. I loved how we could see your development and progress each step of the way, and I loved how you personalized each project in your own way. You show that developing artistic style is a process developed over time. Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights. Keep going!
Thank you so much for the kind words and support! ❤
new fav artist
this is an awesome walkthrough! I've wanted to go to FZD school for ten years but will probably never have an opportunity - this is a cool insight to what and how you guys study :D thanks for sharing!!
Thanks so much the support
omg this was so cool to peek into! so I just graduated from my state uni with a bachelor's in illustration, buuuuuut while the traditional grind did help my fundamentals a lot (those perspective and communication assignments looked very familiar haha), there was near nothing on concept art itself, which is what I want to do. So I'm taking just one trade school class online this year and this video just made me so excited for it, haha!!! I wish you all the best luck in your own concept art journey, thank you for sharing this!!
Congrats on your bachelors! I guess there are pros and cons to different courses. I wish I had more solid fundamentals tbh since we moved on to using 3D software quite early on. Excited for your concept art course though, hope you enjoy ~
proud of you tonia!!
ily bro
Man, I've always wanted to go there. I don't know if I'll ever be able to save up that much money. This is very insightful though! Thank you for this.
Absolutely Insane motivation from this!
great video! i allways dreamed of going to FZD, luckily i made it in the end without going by self teaching over many years but i can see how useful a crash course in art would be for those wanting to speed up the time it takes to get those first jobs in, sounds very stressful but i bet your glad you made it through! i love your work !
Thanks for the support! :)
Woahhh. I'm coming to the end of my first term for concept art and Its been so cool seeing the progress we all go through in such a short amount of time. Love your work
congrats on your first term! Thanks for watching :D
The most comprehensive and truthful video on youtube I have seen so far... It's pretty clear that you filmed it in order to make it informative, rather than make some views ;) Thank you!
P.s. I am a freshman with an art background. This video is very useful for me to compare what my school is going to teach us. I see that yours is pretty professional. All of this in 1 year is mindblowing :) I hope mine will be the same
Thank you for the support! All the best at your new school :)
I would love to see videos that go over the next two terms! Super fun video
BTW, I'd love a fourth video on the post FZD. Not necessarily on the job side of it, but about the relationships you've made, on living on another country and also how much does a whole year with barely any sleep takes it's toll on the body.
This one could even be one where you invide some classmates for a podcasty style video where you guys discuss your experience and talk about "the good times".
Que pasada...es increible la calidad, estoy deseando ver el resto de los trabajos
Thank you for the support! ❤
im going to my first year of college for “game art” this fall so this was rrlly cool to see❤️🔥i hope we go over similar things and improve as much as you have!
Excited for you! 🤩
I'm currently looking for schools in Game Art too and I'm kind of scared ngl ! I don't know if I'll be tough enough to handle the strain and amount of work.
@@corruptedteka i think it was only super intense at fzd because it was all crammed into a one year course. A lot of game art courses are like 3 years so it might be less hectic.
@@niatora ahhh I see ! Yeah I'm planning on doing one year of an introductory course and then 3 years of game art. Even then, looking at student reviews it looks like a very intense thing !
I absolutely loved your video, thank you so much, I was dying to take a look into their program and took some time off to review my fundamentals, I'm sure your content is going to help me so so much
Thanks so much for the support! 💖
Love your insights, thank you so much for making this video!
super interessting!
Thanks for watching! :)
wow you must have worked hard! it is evident in your current talents and abilities. your skills look so good, and you executed those assignments so well!
i wish i had those opportunities, but im glad you shared so much of this and i think it was presented very well. i did actually understand your explanations on the mirroring perspective, although i never heard of it! I'll definitely be visiting this video again.
Thank you for watching!
Did you make a video of term 2 & 3? It’s so amazing seeing your progress and how how much your skill developed!
Yes :)
Thank you so much for sharing! Some of tasks seem impossible to do, you’ve made a huge work❤
Thank you for watching!
man this is super neat
sounds like a lot of stuff for a single term haha
i never got formal training in concept art stuff, so hearing how the pros teach it is pretty cool :)
makes me wonder how much faster I might've progressed had I taken on smth like this; rather than learn it all through random stray youtube videos over the course of like a decade lul
but ye nice to hear some of stuff I hadn't picked up on my own as well
looking forward to hearing u leak the rest of the curriculum as well haha
tangential, but i also rly like ur crab carriage design/idea, them going sideways is a pretty creative touch that's fun to pick up on
When I was younger I dreamed of going to that school, never had the economic resources to do it, and went to the web dev industry and only do art as a hobby, but oh man this takes me back, amazing stuff.
LOVE YOUR ART AND YOUR ACCENT.
I love this video! It's so motivational and it's everything I wish my design school was. Also, I love coffee but can't drink it when drawing because my hands also start to shake, happy to hear I'm not the only one Ö
Hehehe drink some green tea 🍵
Your work is awesome, congrats :)
Thank you for watching! :)
Fantastic video! Looks very promising. Will bookmark and come back to later. Thanks for making such a comprehensive video!
Thanks for watching and supporting :)
Man, this brought back memories. I was in the 2011 batch. Still remember the exhaustion XD
I heard it was waaay worse back then XD
Great video! You explained things really well :D
thank u senpai
Life as a concept artist! Thank you youtube recommend! We need more vlogs like this.
Thank you for watching!
Really bloody appreciate this vid :)
Wow, your work is great! I learned a bit just from watching this. I’m not a concept artist (I’m just a hobbyist) but I can see how lots of this can benefit illustration in general, or even animation. So thank you for sharing!
Also Kirby my beloved. Subscribed. Gl with your channel c:
Thanks for the support! Yeeeeboiii kirbyyy 🤩
This is so helpful, thank you so much
I FINALLY FOUND YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
i need this so much, thanks😭💟
Thank you so much for the support! ❤️
this is really interesting to watch, would love to see more!
On it :)))
Wow, such a great quality! Thanks for the upload! Love from Germany!
thanks for the support! ❤️
Thank you! It was interesting. Please, share next parts too :)
your art is amazing you have so much potential
Thanks for the support!🙏
This is so useful, thank you so much! I'm going to be studying comic and concept art this September at university. Looks like I really need to step my perspective game up 💀
Thanks for watching! :)
First time someone except Feng Zhu is talking about the FZD, very interesting insight
just found your channel, great video on fzd!! 🌈✨🍓
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the amazing VID!!!!
thanks for the support!
Damn, the skill progression is really noticeable!
Goes to show anyone can do anything without having prior experience. I Remember the lines my hands where sooo sore lol my term one and 2 were without rulers. Then come end of my 2d animation term 4 they had us use only a ruler and i just couldn't adjust having not have the ruler as a tool from the beginning
Your work is amazing! I would love to see tutorials on them. Also i would love to know why you went from concept art to tattoo art XD thanks for the video
Gorgeous work! You’re making me want to go to concept art school!
Thanks for watching!!
I have been curious for quite some time about what is taught in the school, Tks for sharing your experience!
awesome stuff on artstation as well! just followed!
Thanks for the support! 💕
Thank you for sharing!
I’ve got to say that I don’t think any art school should be causing people that much physical and mental damage. Learning discipline is important but people shouldn’t be getting carpal tunnel injuries that could put their careers at risk. I’m really glad you have gone well and I think your art is magnificent. would love to get a tattoo should I find you back in syd someday :)
Thank you for these great info. That I dont have enough money, I cant efford these kind schools but thanks to youtubers like you we can practice
Great stuff.
Thanks for sharing thisi watch this a couple of time to note what i need to learn as self taught artist 🔥❤️
Thanks for the support! ❤️
Found you from a comment on Tyrellz Art! I think your artwork is wonderful, great videos and very fun to watch. Working in one industry and then doing art is really fascinating how different people transform or view the world. Ive always been doing art, no formal training, I work construction. Artists are made from anywhere!
So true! Mad respect dude, best of luck on your art journey as well :D
Love your work :) Big fan hereee!!
BRO :p
Thank you no much !! This brought a lot of Insights
Thanks for watching ❤
really nice! thank you!
these r awesome... ur story-telling is super informative too
Thanks appreciate it
Thank you for all of this, really.
Thank you for watching :)
Wah so cutee. I would totally play a game with this kind of artstyle!
I've been drawing for about 2 years now and I can't draw a straight line for the love of my life. And that is why photoshop has a nice feature where you just hold shift and make a line.
This is so mind-blowing and humbling 🤯 I had no idea about the sheer volume of you got through in one term. Where’s part 2?!! I need to see it
working on it!! >.
Thanks for sharing your experience on concept art school.
Thanks for watching :)
Awesome work! Would you kindly share term 2 and term 3 as well.
For anyone wondering about getting into FZD, don't bother. The school closed down in February.
really? the website is still up.
@@jxwone yeah, but they haven't been taking applications for a while now. Official records show it was shut down: www.tpgateway.gov.sg/resources/information-for-private-education-institutions-(peis)/deregistered-peis
WOW ! i always wanted to know, how the school is like, keep up the good work Nia
Thanks so much :)
