DHL Boeing 757 skids off runway and breaks into pieces at San Jose, Costa Rica

- A DHL Aero Expreso Boeing 757-27A (PCF) with registration HP-2010DAE was operating cargo flight D07216 between San Jose, Costa Rica and Guatemala City, Guatemala on 7 April.
After take off San Jose airport, the aircraft headed North destination Guatemala. But after 10 minutes into the flight, the pilots decided to return towards San Jose to enter a holding pattern for about 25 minutes.
Communication between the pilots and the tower indicate that the aircraft suffered a hydraulic problem. The pilots then decided to land at San Jose, but during the landing the aircraft went off the side of the runway.
The Boeing 757 subsequently broke apart while coming to a complete stop. Rescue services rushed to the aircraft, initial reports suggest nobody got seriously injured.

Left hydraulic system failure, no full flaps, no thrust reversers, and no middle spoilers. The pilot made that maneuver to avoid crashing On the highway and then into a hotel.
Реверс не задействован, интересно, в чем причина?
Стойки не обжались скорее всего вот и реверса нет

потому-что реверс не задействован - в этом причина
нет давления в гидросистеме, реверс недоступен, АБС недоступна итд

Why there's a difference in altitude between the runway and the field surrounding it? I never understand these laws and what these people even think when they build these runways. Everything about aviation is messed up. Why isn't the runway surrounded by some sand to stop the planes ?makes no sense. Hey while at it, why don't you build a wall at the end of the runway.

@@B757-r8u don't build your runway if you cannot make it properly and if it isn't made properly, planes landing there should offer explanations as to why they even had flights to that destination if the runway was dangerous and does not respect the international law . You can't blame a shithole county like this one but you can blame planes that land in that shihole. Make your runway the correct way then and only then I will send my planes over.

IMHO: sand+landing gear=anchor. The wing will tear off. Need to use "Lawn grate for parking" or something like that.
Hola, soy costarricense, y a respuesta a tu comentario es que Costa Rica es un país muy lluvioso, y esos desniveles sirven de lagunas de retención para que las pistas no se inunden y causen más accidentes, es arquitectura específica para la región tropical húmeda
интересно повлияла ли проблема с гидравликой или банально "занос автомобильный".. хм.... кстати реверса не видно, а колесами на всю давит
без антискида занос можно устроить и на самолёте, это не первый такой случай в истории

Boeing aircraft have 4 to 5 accidents recently. Include failure of that hydraulic system. Cracks in windscreen There is also the incident of a Chinese plane crash.

So maybe Russians just got lucky that all Boeings are grounded in Russia :)
