Being able to add your own music to the game from your hard drive was the best thing about this game. I have a mix of classic tekken tracks, drum and bass tracks, Ethereal Universe tracks(makes great instrumental drum n bass, hip hop songs google them) and even a track from the Wiz on the Snoop Dog stage lol

TTT2 still has the least laggy online fighting matches I've ever played...
People usually use 'lag' as an excuse when they lose to a lower ranked player. Happens to me all the time on my alt account. Despite my play style, they still believe I'm a beginner because my rank says so, not knowing it is my alt account, then then rage message me some BS excuse for why they lost. Its pathetic.
philipanakwue I've tried other fighting games with more hype and better reviews but the online in those is terrible.
If you need to use another account to play a fighting game...It questions your gaming as well...Also, TTT2 lags very hard and it lags out heavy in matches, so that's not an excuse...I play in good matches where people I see on the regular who is wired like myself and the connection still go down or close out in ranked or player lobbies. Trolling the winning charts is very immature and pathetic.
Skip Fuego Well for me the games are either about the same as the offline gameplay but they can go bad. Every other fighting games online I've played has never even gotten close to the offline game play.

This video is top tier. Look at what you did, Tekken. Look at it! Hey, free DLC characters, nice idea. They're either clones like Forest and P-Jack or incomplete, like...Kunimitsu.
TTT2 logic: You punch forward, Feng teleport slides under you, and you hit Feng while he's on your back, making him fly the opposite direction you punched him into an angled wall splat, into a combo you drop, into Feng doing tag crash with Kazuya and since you're back turned, you try to turn around but get hit by a ws2 into a tag assault combo plus a wall mix up that brutally murders you and also fucks you in the ass with a cactus dildo.
Still a fun game, because it's Tekken.

To be honest, it's not only the game, it's the community. I have over 1200 games, and I just now got into green ranks, because I'm just now realizing that everyone in these ranks don't actually care about the game enough to learn how to play. Everyone just pushes buttons and throws string with mixups in them. People know how easy that shit is to do. People don't want to take the time to learn a characters frame data. That's why everyone plays asuka clones, Bob, laws, and Lily. I finally realized I should stop trying to actually play this game correctly, spacing, poking, punishing, when all I have to do is find a character with a string that has a mix-up mid/low, and a spammable high crushing low. People just want the shiny rank next to their name, so they do stupid shit: spam strings that if you haven't memorized, you're dead, press 1,2,1 like it's the only buttons, and throw hell sweeps. If people want to really enjoy this game, they need to stop doing this shit.

If only it weren't for lag, these things wouldn't be a problem. But no, I'll continue to get hit by Hwoarang uf444 because I ducked a frame too late... And low sweeps too... And of course I'll block a hopkick only to have my 12 frame punisher miss completely, then eat a hopkick and lose 75% health.
What's sad is that Namco said they're aiming for Tekken 7 to have netcode "as good as" Tag 2. Not better. As good as. *sigh* -_-

I loved tag even with all these flaws. Hell I even made combo vids for the game. I probobly spent over 3000 hours playing to be honest. I played the game non stop from release day up to about a year ago. lol highest rank I ever got too was destroyer but then I stopped playing so hardcore and literally got stuck in green rank hell. can't believe how hard it is to rank up in Tekken.

despite that this is still the most fun tekken game i played than the rest of Tekken series played because of how much u can be creative with it if only the game was released as the same year era as tekken 7 they might patch some broken stuff
yeah, combo damage is ridiculous. It also feels like every fucking move is a launcher, and with attack ranges, basically every launcher is a guaranteed combo- regardless of the range.
theres also something seriously wrong with the movement inputs. It feels clunky compared to T5/T6, and ends up getting you hit for no reason.
NYG5 I went back to playing TTT2 after playing 7 and I realised how hard it is to sidestep at times. ( highest I got when I went back was master despite being yellow ranks in 7 , mostly down to preferring Kazuya only over being forced to play lars and kazuya)
arsalan ahmed it’s even harder to keep yourself from constantly back dashing since you can’t block from back dash, I found myself getting constantly combo’d and realized it’s because back dashin, as well as back rolling, side rolling and simply standing up can get you launched. Movement is very unforgiving.

I know this is somewhat of a light-hearted joke video but I still feel Tag 2 gets a lot of unwarranted flack, mostly for its online community. The actual game and gameplay is top-notch. It's the bound combo system, combo heavy Tekken gamplay brought to its logical conclusion. I'll respond to some of the criticism addressed in this video:

True, namco never addressed the problem but solo characters have been banned from every tournament since the beginning. People weren't losing tournaments or money matches because of it.
>WTF shut down too early
Tag 2 didn't sell that well so the mainintg a service like WTF wasn't economically viable.
>sweet rage damage
It was also a back turned combo. Those don't happen that often.
>Kunimitsu is complete rash
Like in every fighting game, there are tier lists. Bad characters aren't exclusive to tekken. Also a Kunimitsu player made it into top 24 at evo 2013.
>No frame data
Not exclusive to Tekken. Few fighting games display frame data. Yes, frame data is extremely beneficial but the lack of frame data isn't AT ALL exclusive to Tag 2.
>Philippines stage
Legitimate criticism. It's hard to see when the camera is turned toward the sun but otherwise the visibility is fine.
>tutorial not good enough
There's only so much you can do with a tutorial. All the basics were explained pretty well. Also custom tag fillers, tag assaults etc. Also Combot was an interesting idea.
>1 bar match when you search 5 bar
Haven't had that happen to me. I had 5 bears turn into 3 but 5 into 1? Not to mention that Tag 2 has one of the best netcodes when it comes to fighting games, period.

You know when you're bout to get demoted or promoted. That's enough I think. Knowing exactly how many matches you areaway from a demo/promo can have an impact on how people play. Just two matches away from a promo? Play as annoying and spammy as possible.

Yes, the infamous green ranks are for sure a filter for many people. Can you deal with spammy, ultra aggressive set-ups? Do you understand the fundamentals of the game? That's what the green ranks show you.

We're talking about a 4 year old game that wasn't even that popular to begin with. The fact that people still play or even bother to make videos about this game is a miracle.

Don't really know what you mean. You mean connection wise? I didn't have a truly laggy match in a while. I remember back in 2013 there were a lot of lag matches. People shouldn't play this game over wifi but that's not a server problem.

Not really, I know of that RIP video you're talking about but RIP is a professional tekken player who has won tournaments so he's generally a very good player, even without hopkicks.

If you know what characters you're up against, you know what throws to look out for. For example giant swing. Yes throw breaking is hard but also duckable.

I wouldn't call it ridiculous but mixed with rage It sure becomes annoying. Bound-based Tekken games are known for their long combos so you know what kind of fighting game you're getting into.
I'm just as excited for T7 as anyone else but TAG2 was a nice swansong to the bound-based Tekken gameplay. There was a lot of creative stuff possible with the tag combo system. Execution and reflexes were rewarded. For me Tag 2 is one of the best 3D fighting games in history, next to VF5 and TEKKEN:DR.

Good comment, the creative possibilities with teams are really what make the game great to me, even with all of the valid complaints acknowledged, I like tag 2 for what it is.
I do hope they fix the cpu a bit, my offline record on ultra hard is over 95%. The cpu is so dumb. Certain moves always work, certain ones never work, and it teaches bad habits. It's bad practice for human opponents. (ex. if you get your cpu opponent to get hit by or block ancient ogre's 2,1 [or I guess marduks since I think it's the same but I don't use duk], you can just keep doing it forever and they just keep blocking, its plus a little but you can just duck since it's h,h) The bad cpu created some bad flowcharts for me that don't work on real people. T5 cpu on ultra hard was at least actually hard.
It's amazing how much free time people have XD

I mostly agree with you on everything.
But two things.
1-For the Philippines stage change the visual settings.
2-Angel, she actually does suck. Which stinks because she looks cool and has unique animations. But her moveset is lacking to say the least.
Haters going to hate. If you don't like the game, don't play it. Only issues I have with the game are the lack of a beat em' up mode and the option to play VS Battle against a CPU. Clone fighters could have been given more different moves.
I liked ttt2 but I'm a casual gamer so online mode was unenjoyable, they should consider having a online mode for casual gamers only but here were my main problems with this game:
1. Customization. Like you pointed out, customization is over the top and what I hate most is the fact you are FORCED to play against customized characters on arcade mode. its annoying, I have no problem with customization but when I play offline, I don't want to play against a jun dressed like the tooth fairy, I hope they give us the option to fight regular characters in tekken 7.
2. The juggling. The juggling in this game really killed it for me. what makes it worse is that the ground in this game is apparently made out of trampoline material, cause every time you get slammed to the ground, you bounce right back up giving the player even more opportunities to juggle you.
I agree with everything except juggling. It makes the game more interesting.
I remember in TTT2 being Practice Online where you lay against a Player to get better at the game.

I was with you until right here. The music is so consistently good. It's eubjective, I get it, but the way Tag 2 differs from Tekken 7 is that the music actually sounds like it fits in a Tekken game. Tekken 7's "Moonsiders" is my favourite track in the game, but it doesn't sound like a Tekken track at all. It's another liquid drum and bass tune. In Tag 2, you got the strings, you got the iconic electronic elements like the vocals, you got the orchestral elements CONSISTENTLY, etc. In Tekken 7 it's very occasional.
I'm rambling, it's subjective, I just don't agree one bit.
Capo's b+1,4 and Jinpachi's df+1+2 are what's wrong with TTT2.

Couldn't agree more with this video. Something I would add tho is wall tags and how you can still be attacking the first character and the game allows a tag in and, while still attacking the first character, the second one (probably has rage) is free to hop kick you. Also you can totally anticipate the wall tag and a high percentage of the time you will ether be to far away to hit,( wall tag sometimes creates bullshit space between you and the opponent), the opponent is allowed to act far to quickly after wall tags and will parry or hop kick any punish attempt. Another thing is i have a sneaking suspicion about 3rd party tools being used for auto throw breaking and 1 button electrics (speaking of online). I find it hard to believe people in green and yellow ranks with sub 50% winning percentages are breaking every throw and spamming ewgfs on a regular basis. That last one is a bit of a conspiracy theory tho. TTT2 should have been the best game in the series but turned out to just be a disappointment. TTT2 players will not likely have a good time in Tekken 7. They will be losing a ton more.

I love TTT2 ( one of my favorite game) but indeed this game sucks the hell online and has too many problems: the balance issue between the characters is completely unfair, the lag makes me want to strangle cats, the tutorial of the game sucks ( i learned backdash on youtube), there is no information about the frame data of the characters, so cheap characters such eddy are advantaged because you don't know which move you can punish.
But above else, the things i hate the thing i hate most is when my opponent hit me while i am clearly pushing back and i am moving back.

TTT2 was cool and all, but...if your defense wasn't super sharp you would get absolutely wrecked because getting opened up once could lead to MASSIVE damage. I do waaaaaay better in Tekken 7 than in TTT2....
