I am a track fanatic but just watched this for the 1st time. Not sure how and why I missed this. Anyway, had to watch it like 5 times with the volume turned up. Wow!
Raevyn beasted that leg. However, what people don't realize is this was the race that set Kendall Ellis up for arguably one of the greatest comebacks in NCAA track and field history. The very next year, her senior year, she made up a 50+ meter lead in the last leg against Purdue and won the team title. USC had to win to do it, just like Oregon. Both teams snatched the title from Georgia in back to back years. There's nothing like the 4x4 and the amazing people who run it!!
I was just thinking that. Kendall Ellis anchored in two of the greatest 4x4's in NCAA history. Her split in this one was actually faster than her comeback against Purdue.
You're right. It's absolutely INSPIRING that Kendall took second in 2017 (by a hair) and kicked A** in 2018 in the final leg to help the trojans win the national championship.
I just saw that race and came back to watch this because of the comments made about what Rogers had done the year before. Now I understand even more how Kendall Ellis gave her all one year later after coming second in this race
I was there. I’ve been to many meets at Hayward Field, they’re always exciting there, but this race ranks at the top of bests for me. And not just me. On the way out of the stadium I bumped into Dana Altman, the UO Mens basketball coach, and he looked to me like he too had never seen anything so exciting. Folks, whether or not you’re a fan, get yourself to a track and field meet at Hayward Field. You’ll never forget it.
That's why Ravryn Rogers has her picture up in a large mural at the New Hayward Field. This national championship basically came down to her final leg in this relay.
If I'm not mistaken, both of them competed for Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics. Ellis in the mixed 4x400m relay, which she won bronze, and Rogers in the 800m, which she also won bronze.
Yup, I saw this race at Hayward Field. I also saw Raevyn at the airport on her way to Tokyo and told her how that race and, especially, her finish was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever seen live. She looked nearly as happy to hear that as she looked after this race.
The final leg was EPIC! Kendall Ellis and Raven Rogers are GODS! Love these women. What HEART! And if you think this race was good, watch 2018 final 4 X 400 - Kendall Ellis pulls off one of the GREATEST final legs ever!
Ali V Frazier, Chris evert v. Martina, Yankees V Red sox, ...Raevyn Rogers V. Kendall Ellis; I get goosebumps watching this. Raevyn and Kendall are two of the GREATEST 4 X 400 anchors EVER! ALL HEART!
100m to go in 3rd leg, Oregon runner cuts in front of USC runner. She is not 1 stride ahead and the move makes the USC runner stumble. That was the only foul I saw between USC and Oregon
This is a track championship scored by points for each event to win the title. Before they started the race he explained that in the 200 someone fell and did not cross the finish line so they did not get the points they needed.
These type races is the ones that give you goosebumps
Fr I got an adrenaline rush
Yep I remember running track in college when the stands making that much noise it fuels you to dig down deep and give your all to win.
I am a track fanatic but just watched this for the 1st time. Not sure how and why I missed this. Anyway, had to watch it like 5 times with the volume turned up. Wow!
Amen!
Yes
I can feel the energy through the screen 😫
Agree. Had me screaming at my screen.
That crowd tho! If only the announcer was as hype as British ones tend to be
If the announcers were British NCAA track would be so much more viewed.
you should see the japanese announcers

Sounds like Georgia needs some runners
@@jon-snow-GOT Fr. On the men's side as well.

“AND OREGON WINS THE TRIPLE CROWN” gives me goosebumps every time.
I got goosebumps from the roar of the crowd.
Talk about clutch
What a race and that crowd. Congrats Oregon
Wow! What a race the Oregon team, especially Raevyn Rogers, ran...Heart of a Champion!!
THAT 800-meter strength is what makes the difference down the stretch for Rogers.
5:43 it's a foot race, of course it's a track meet lol.... raven downshifted... commentator prob a car enthusiasts
Does one usually downshift when speeding up tho?
Brought me to tears. What a race!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Phenomenal running this is one of my favorites
1 year later Kendall Elis (USC Ancor) wins the title for her team

Can't wait for 2021 finals tomorrow and Saturday. Just so glad to have T&F back after COVID.
Whew.... I wasn’t interested in relay/track and field but man I think I’m about to get into this
“It’s a foot race... of course it’s a track meet”😂😂😂 5:42
Awesome race!!!!!!!
Ali V Frazier, Chris evert v. Martina, Yankees V Red sox, ...Raevyn Rogers V. Kendall Ellis; I get goosebumps watching this. Raevyn and Kendall are two of the GREATEST 4 X 400 anchors EVER! ALL HEART!

I was here for this. The stands were shaking, I couldn't hear anything people were so loud

I have chills
That leadoff leg for Oregon NIce!
God Bless those who are focused on the women's hair and fun and excitement of the race.
I got chills
Imagine the times without all of the weaves....
USC runners tried to cut off Oregon runners multiple times to slow their momentum. An old dirty trick... they deserved to lose.
it’s literally part of the sport.
Alden Wheeler he never said they should be banned, he said that was dirty move tho
100m to go in 3rd leg, Oregon runner cuts in front of USC runner. She is not 1 stride ahead and the move makes the USC runner stumble. That was the only foul I saw between USC and Oregon
Zaco21_ he didnt say they should be banned. He said its part of the sport
MrGUAP I legit just said that but ok
now I understand why are Raven is on the tower of the new Hayward stadium
Wow God bless them ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m in my bed... SWEATING BULLETS😅😅 they made me so nervous!!!! 😂 lord!!

Fred Ball why are you concerned about their hair😂

Some serious booty out there.
Forget Cardi B and Kim K.
I like there whole team is black
Nigga really said “it’s a foot race, of course it’s a track meet”💀💀
who tf cutting onions
The announcers didn't help this race at all. Where was the excitement? Smh
U speaking yea or nay
dwight stone is hard to listen to. and he makes no sense on top of it...they must win? and still lose? then why must they win?
This is a track championship scored by points for each event to win the title. Before they started the race he explained that in the 200 someone fell and did not cross the finish line so they did not get the points they needed.
no one cares about third.
Great win! But I'M SOOOOOOOO SICK OF SEEING MY BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMEN WITH WEAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-(
Most black women wear weaves so they can grow their hair while looking nice at the same time. I don't see anything wrong with it...
Great job Oregon but why the ridiculous wigs?
they look gorgeous, same as they do without their weaves - stop commenting on how women look...
Could’ve just ended the sentence at “great job”.
